The battle rages on and New Mexico remains in the lead. The buzz around a romantic comedy pairing Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant is strolling toward fruition. The film, set in Wyoming scouted locations in Connecticut among others – but New Mexico has won out.
This is not Tom Cruise in Albuquerque, NM but it sure does look like him.
Calling all NM stars. There’s Room for Two. And “people” are looking. Are you or do you know a New Mexican star look-alike??? You may be called upon to stand-in or star in one of the many NM productions set to roll.
A pretty face on a bobble head an on-air personality does not make. Maria Menounos currently of Access Hollywood should not laugh on camera – perhaps not in life. Her voice has never exactly been soothing, but add the laugh and you know she was made to be in silent film or still pictures.
If she insists on being in motion, surely the original bobble head, Vanna White will retire soon.
I don’t get the Albuquerque Journal, like many of you in the Duke City, but I do catch glimpses of their reports as blurbed on the evening news or more oft’ from New Mexico stories splashed across the web in places like TMCnet.com where I found this little tid-bit early in the month.
That which was once a mini jewel – a bauguette if you will, of semiconductor production in Albuquerque, only slightly overshadowed by it’s center stone up in the hills of Rio Rancho, shines anew with facilities for film and television production.
The Phillips plant has quietly been housing productions since 2006 under the management of Titan Industrial Development. The 16,000 sq. ft. complex, on 60 acres may be torn down for the likes of an office complex, depending on what buyers become available. Here is the published list of the “Phillips Studios” productions to date.
Movie and TV productions at least partially filmed at Philips Studio:

–“The Eye,” a motion picture, from November 2006 to March 2007.
–“Swing Vote,” a motion picture, from May to October 2007.

Now that’s a headline chalk full of cheese and corn, dare I say, it’s my best yet. But seriously, our beloved Commerce Secretary of Hearts is at term limit in 2011 and as I told you here, none other than Jim Morrison, I mean Batman, I mean Doc Holliday, I mean K.I.T.T. – no really Val Kilmer is gaining momentum if not consideration as a contender to take his place.
That being said whether or not he’s got the stuff of Ronald Reagan, Sonny Bono, Jesse Ventura, or the acting “Governator” of CA will remain to be seen. I solemnly swear to forward any and all valid questions and concerns my local readers have to the Iceman himself – it’s public office people we need to know what he stands for.
So before he’ll “be your huckleberry”…wait a minute, I know too many Kilmer screen references…maybe he is qualified. Just take a look at the clip below – there’s the pen twirling, gum/teeth snapping, volleyball sequence AND the towel sequence.
If the 2009 Kilmer has the stuff of the 1984 Kilmer who meets conflict, delivers wicked scowls, steps-up, and makes peace in a rescue sequence he may be our man – Iceman.
The El Paso Sun Times reports Teletech Holdings is in need of 1,000 temporary workers for home-based, digital transition call response jobs in El Paso, TX and Dona Ana County, NM. The jobs scheduled to begin on Feb. 7 pay $13 an hour and will last from one to two-weeks.
Reminding me of my Office Space days, except in this case he’s actually enacting so many of the empty cliches of mostly failed Corporate America; Back to Basics, Walk the Walk, Do What You Say/Say What You Do, Work Smarter Not Harder, etc., etc.
“Oh”, she sighed heavily rolling herself across the king sized bed. She closed her eyes and imagined it was their house. Though she was lying atop bedding laid out by the Realtor’s team of decorators, in her mind there were fine linens beneath that she and he had picked out together. He’s away right now, but he’ll be back soon. He always returns here, to their home, happy to be back in her arms. It has been the routine for years now, being together in this place he had built in the Hills for them. Until her daydreaming is cut short by the gaggle of her representatives and agents set out to retrieve her from the suite.
