DWI New Mexico Shame

Knowledge is power people. For example I now know, I love the tequila! This is relatively ~new to me as I didn’t drink until well after I was 21. I was busy with other things – nothing nefarious, and not busy like those people who say obnoxious things like, “I don’t watch television – I’m too busy.” Like I’m dumb or something because I want my idiot box on 24/7, anythink…

Reflecting upon this information and the responsibility that is mine if I choose to drink, I thought of what a pitiful, deplorable, negligent, disgraceful, wretched, shameful, poor job New Mexico is doing in preventing DWI.

We’re pathetic. Campaign after campaign, a Czar, Task Force(s), etc., etc., blah, blah, blah. And we are still a showcase for the most bizarre, most grievous DWI homicides and infractions across all reaches of our state, from our largest city, to our capital city, and our smallest towns. Pa-the-TIC!

Enjoy the drink? Sure, but if you’re rockin’ the tequila, a fine brew, or some smooth wine – YOU ARE IMPAIRED. You are the 900 lb. man afflicted with beyond morbid obesity who had to be cut out his house by firefighters. You are the wartime casualty of a roadside bomb, you are incapable of moving under your own power. That’s on all of us that’s our part. We also need to keep our hands in the voting process, fingers on our telephones and emails to demand our government, he, hmm, Mr. Richardson/Ms. Denish, Mr. Mayor, Mr. Congressman, Senator, Judges, court staff – ENFORCE some DWI laws.

Cleanliness On The Cheap

Posted by on August 24, 2009 | Comments Off

To remove residue, build-up and of course the occasional grease stain – there’s no need for pricey specialty soaps and cleansers. Good ol’ fashioned dish liquid contains degreaser that can get oily stains out of your clothes by the wash load or as a pretreatment, diluted detergent can keep bugs and pests off your plants and even makes a good hair brightener.

Remember resorting to that pricey bottle of Anti-Residue Formula Neutrogena, well in a time or a penny pinch go to the kitchen an whip yourself up some beauty on the cheap.

So whether you want to spray that slug away or just get Timmy’s gravy stain off your blouse get back to basics for results.

Syndicated Superstars vs. Newbies

Posted by on August 23, 2009 | 6 comments

George Lopez

Superstars – As Mr. Lopez declares in his own stand-up comedy routine, “I ain’t goin’ nowheres! Syndication! Syn-di-cation!” The George Lopez show has been in syndication since 2006, it currently airs on KASA Fox 2 twice every weeknight. !Viva La Raza!

The Office

Newbies – The staff of The Office, exec. producers and anyone else lucky enough to have a claim to the NBC comedy’s syndication rights hit the wellspring of television royalties as the show rolls into weeknight syndicated rotation, airing five times a week on our local CW this Fall.

Thor Come Lately? New Mexico May Get the Gods

Posted by on August 23, 2009 | 5 comments

Hemsworth/Thor

Chris Hemsworth is “allegedly” cast in the lead role of the upcoming Marvel Comics’ epic Thor. Conflicting reports have cited the Jane Foster role going to either she-man Jessica Biel, or perennial ingénue Natalie Portman – with the part ultimately going to Portman – duh.

Filming is set to begin January 2010 for release in 2011. Kenneth Branaugh will direct and “people“, “they“, “insiders“, and the like speculate that the MEGAMOVIE may be headed to New Mexico for filming.

Woot, woot!

Daytime Dramz, NM

Susan Lucci of All My Children

Since January 1970 the acclaimed, daytime drama series All My Children has been based in NYC. Earlier this month it was officially announced that Erica Kane et al will uproot and move the ~whole production to Los Angeles in early 2010.

With prime time drama series such as Wildfire, Easy Money, Crash and the Emmy nominated Breaking Bad already successfully filmed or filming in The Land of Enchantment…

It can’t be long till N.M. makes itself home to its own brand of daytime, dramatic fiction. NM soap lines could easily be drawn from our own local headlines…Perhaps some starcrossed, courthouse romance between NM’s own Vieja Spice, Roberta Vigil and Nick Nolte Esquire John Higgins.

Here We Go Lobos, Here We Go – NFL, NM

Posted by on August 19, 2009 | Comments Off

Wright Lobo

Lobo Star Cornerback DeAndre Wright made his NFL debut with the New York Football Giants on Sunday.

Wright is vying for the only open position on the team against fellow rookie Stoney Woodson. Wright was forced to sit-out several practices last week due to a hyperextended knee, but made a strong showing on Sunday playing almost the entire second half of the game.

And we wouldn’t be ©Sindication if we didn’t stick with this New Mexico athlete and wish him well as he follows in the big football cleats of fellow Lobo stars Hank Baskett and Brian Urlacher.

Legion Poster

As we anticipate the release of Gamer, and The Book of Eli the apocalyptic thriller Legion is too headed down the pike direct from NM. The big budget production will showcase the Land of Enchantment when the film hits theaters in January 2010. (I cannot believe how often we’re already writing about 2010)

Anyways, the action revolves around a legion of angels sent down by the Almighty to impart the end of (in)humanity upon us. Looks like another winner: Official Trailer

Albuquerque Talent Development Secondary Charter School is a free, fully accredited public high school for “students seeking to develop their academic talents unlike any [other] educational program”. Contact the school or review their online application.

Public Academy for Performing Arts (PAPA), may be facing some challenges in the building code department as they have had to scoot their 2009-2010 start date and their performing arts booties to a new location, but classes will begin in full force on August 31. Visit them at PAPA.org.

And for you mensas out there be sure to look into programs for your genius such as Albuquerque Institute for Mathematics and Science, a public charter High School located on the UNM campus. Students earn college credits while completing their HS career.

What Your Momma Learned This Weekend: Real Men Wear a Snugli

Posted by on August 17, 2009 | Comments Off

Because there is no one named Hilton, Kardashian, or Hogan and no one is trying to win a prize or get famous for being obnoxious – I found Fox Reality Channel‘s Househusbands of Hollywood rather refreshing. Besides the advents already named these people simply seem to be families, men and women who care for each other and their children, some more than others, but isn’t that always the way?

Mrs. Bledsoe sums a fact of life up nicely when describing the entertainment business as he muses on how sometimes it’s up and sometimes it’s down. Fo’ sure, fo’ sure. Yeah, it’s more “reality t.v.”, but maybe this one will remind some of us of something that needs be reminded – be it that living a good life and doing right by your family is the true meaning of success (Big Ups to the Hubs) or that a lot of actors, writers and staffers are out of work because of stupid shows like the 800th installment of The Bachelor or Laguna Beach IV.

We will continue tracking this one.

P.S. Congrats to the growing Barber familia!

New Hollywood Grove

We’re not so hot on the hot dogs here in Nuevo México but for late night jonesing or an all hours chile fix, Frontier on Central in Albuquerque is a must. I think even that b*tch Miseralba eventually went there – God knows she wouldn’t lower herself to go to Pink’s on La Brea in Los Angeles.

Once upon a time our area outlet mall was a booming retail destination betwixt ABQ. and Fanta Se but in recent years they’ve lost a little luster and prestige. Fortunately for the shopping inclined the outdoor ABQ Uptown stands in well as the answer to Old Hollywood’s Grove, where high end shopping is nicely paired with starry atmosphere.
