The Brewer Palin School

Posted by on July 21, 2010 | One comment

UPDATE 12/5/11: GOP front runner for the Republican nomination into the 2012 presidential race, New Gingrich has put forward his concept of child labor law reform, stating that poor kids with “no work ethic” should be scrubbing school bathrooms:

“What if they became assistant janitors and their jobs were to mop the floor and clean the bathroom?”

Read more on the Gingrich opinion of “the poor” and his ideas to put these children to work here, here and here.

Once Water Wraps Pattz is Soon to Follow

Posted by on July 19, 2010 | One comment

Image Source: Pattinson State of Mind (no really, that’s what it’s called)

As we’ve been reporting here, here, here and here, the Twilightiacs of the world will soon turn their daylight shy eyes on the Land of Enchantment where R. Pattz will be going from Elephants to Caballos in the upcoming indie Unbound Captives as written and directed by the incredible Madeline Stowe.

Pattinson will star alongside that piece of gorgeousness Hugh Jackman and the superb Rachel Weisz. The Pattz is said to have to learn and primarily speak Comanche for the film. It has yet to be confirmed or denied (officially) whether or not the film will shoot here, but few and far between of those reported go elsewhere…(but some do {sads})

I fully expect the Twilightiac express to land here and I know N. Mex will play a fine and respectful host to all the cast & crew (Lord protect us from the madness).

I also expect that The Pattz will do a great job with the material and I officially add him to the list of my “great expectations” wherein the Nut Butter Boy begs to play the ultimate young Spiderman and our very own Scary Little Lady will take the stage at the Oscars one day…I expect Pattinson to shine out from his cloak of vampire darkness and meet similar professional heights as the late great Heath Ledger…as they say on the evening news…

Thorish

Posted by on July 19, 2010 | Comments Off

Los Angeles Times

From the other worldly desert hammer to the Hall of Asgard (above) the mighty Thor is edging toward completion and glimpses of this Kenneth Branagh inception continue to be put forward.

Filmed between California (Del Mar, L.A., Raleigh Manhattan Beach Studios) and New Mexico (Santa Fe and Galisteo), we’ve so far seen the Chris Hemsworth embodiment of the Thunder God, the Destroyer in the desert, and have been tagged in the Global coverage (flattering and not) of this Marvel.

Don’t forget the Thor-fest rolls into Comic Con with many other NM productions!

Branagh & co.’s Thor hits theaters May 2011 in 3D!!

Imus New Mexico

Posted by on July 19, 2010 | Comments Off

I miss New Mexico sometimes….

Anydigress, loudmouthed New Mexico resident Don Imus of radio fame and logorrhea infamy turns 70 this Friday.

Like many of his fellow New Mexicans (home grown & adopted), Imus does his share of dogooding from this scenic & spiritual Southwest base.

The Imus Ranch in Ribera, New Mexico is a working cattle ranch for kids with cancer. At the Imus Ranch online Store you can purchase coffees, salsa, chips, Green Cleaning products and Ranch hats & mugs – 100% of the proceeds benefit the work they do there.

More on the oft offensive I-man here, from the NY Daily News.

DAYUM I wanna GO! The words, “at least” were screaming at me from inside my tiny brain as I rev’d and re-rev’d this week’s Comic Con updates and now I know why…at least TWO, THREE, FOUR NM films will be at #SDCC.

Thanks to an Eric (love those!) we got the scoop that the heavily Comi present Green Lantern film has firm roots in New Mexico!

As we told you here the super awesome Sony Pictures Imageworks is quietly in our midst and now we know that they are “heavily involved with post for that production.” Woot!

We’re so Hollywood New Mexico – every time I meet a new friend who tells me that they’re unemployed I assume they’re an actor. ;)

AZ and TX Won’t Play w/ N. Mex.

Posted by on July 15, 2010 | Comments Off

UPDATE 9/29/11, TIMES THERE AIN’T MUCH A-CHANGIN’: The New York Times reports that THIS year’s U.S. / Mexico Border Conference hasn’t improved much upon last year’s conference non grata, with only ONE, count ‘er, ONE U.S. Governess in attendance…full story here.

Hot off the presses or wherever ~news comes from these days – El Majico a.k.a. Governor of New Mexico Bill Richardson has agreed to host this year’s annual Governor’s border conference which has been canceled by Arizona Gov. you-know-who (the zexy, secretly Latin loving Jan Brewer) amid many pending, threatened or implied AZ boycotts by US and Mexican factions of this and other AZ events over the you-know-what (highly controversial AZ immigration law recently passed by that zexy b*tch Brewer).

With a whole host of border town/state issues requiring attention this the 27th annual border conference, to be held in September, is “structured” to serve as a forum for participants to share information, better relations, advance problem solving and decrease tension.

But tension is on the rise as Arizona and Texas (R & R) Gov’s state they will not attend. A stance stuck in mud perhaps to show/hold strong posturing on the issue as they are heading into re-election bids.

Can Rodney Lindsay stay off crack? Guess the answer is the same to both questions…

Of course we can count on the soon to be exiting stage right Governator of CA to attend.

Beauty on the Cheap: Summer Edition

Posted by on July 15, 2010 | 2 comments

The really simple Rx for the cheapest in Summertime beauty are these few items:

The obvious and ~plentiful yet sometimes so hard to choke down aqua is a must. Dehydration leads to ugly things like dry skin, chapped lips, brittle hair and constipation!

Which brings us neatly ’round to our next yummy little suggestion the prune or any of the gazzilion quick and easy ways there are to get some fiber to keep r-e-g-u-l-a-r.

Because irregularity in itself is rather unappetizing and it can really weigh ya’ down, REALLY. Not to mention (except to mention) that there are many, many benefits to keeping on the regular like maintaining your weight and World Peace.

Lastly as a nod to my dermatologist who put it best when she asked, “Did you come here on the subway?”, when I announced to her that I don’t go out in the sun much. SPF, SPF, SPF! Because ICYDK w/out it you more quickly meet aging and skin cancer.

Happy hydrating, bm’ing and spf’ing! Esp. to those of you just visiting/working/filming out in our hot sunny desert for the first time. ¡Bienvenidos!

Comic Con 2010, NM

Posted by on July 15, 2010 | 2 comments
EventsFilmNMTV

Not one but THREE FOUR New Mexico Films will be showcased at this year’s largest fiction/fantasy fan convention, Comic Con International in San Diego California, July 22 – 25.

My beloved Cowboy(s) and Aliens, now filming in the vast seclusion of our New Mexico desert, will be reviewed by non-other than director Jon Favreau (Iron Man) on Saturday to include an open Q & A. Perhaps there Favs will disclose the yay or nay on his gorgeous film’s dimensions be it 2 or 3!!! Like Iron Man’s cousin Thor…

Thor is in and out of the news, most recently for this just released production still for the film which is catching its unfair share of flack. Producer Kevin Feige will be on hand to discuss the much anticipated Marvel release of New Mexico’s Thor and the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger.

“Scheduled to appear for Universal Pictures’ sci-fi comedy-adventure Paul are a who’s who of film comedy. Director Greg Mottola (Superbad) will be joined by cast members Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz), Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead), Kristen Wiig (Date Night), Bill Hader (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), Jeffrey Tambor (The Hangover), Joe Lo Truglio (Role Models), Seth Rogen (The Green Hornet), and Sigourney Weaver (Baby Mama) as they discuss the movie about two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage to Comic-Con ultimately takes them to America’s UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who takes them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever. Q&A session to follow.” – Screen Rant

“The cast and filmmakers of (NM’s) Let Me In, a haunting and provocative thriller written and directed by filmmaker Matt Reeves (Cloverfield), give the Hall H audience a sneak peek at this highly anticipated film. Let Me In is an astonishing coming-of-age story involving a young girl (Kick Ass’s Chloe Moretz) and an alienated boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee from The Road) unlike any you have seen. Based on the bestselling Swedish novel Lat den Ratte Komma (Let The Right One In) by John Ajvide Lindqvist and the highly acclaimed film of the same name, Let Me In takes audiences straight to the troubled heart of adolescent longing and loneliness. Academy Award-nominee Richard Jenkins (The Visitor) also stars in this exhilarating reboot of the beloved original.” – Comic Con

ed. notes: SyFy Network’s NM production, Stargate Universe will also hold court. And last year’s NM Comic Con reps. The Book of Eli and Legion are now out on DVD.

Nash Bridges Had Profits?

Posted by on July 8, 2010 | Comments Off

In another fine example of why you keep working toward the work, do the work and have a good contract – today a supremo, syndicated superstar award goes to everyone’s favorite pastel suit wearing, huarache sporting, frosted tip donning, Don ‘huevos’ Johnson for winning his (law) suit against the co-creator of Nash Bridges and Rysher Entertainment which produced the show during its run from 1996-2001.

Don was awarded $23.2 million, being deemed entitled to half the show’s profits from royalties and global airings. YOWZA!

I bow-down to you “Sonny Crockett”!

NM’s Own Women of Radio Direct to TV

Posted by on July 8, 2010 | One comment
NMPost8RadioTVVote

In a grating exercise of what seems to be futility (much like listening to Kelly Ripa speaking) you can log-on to the Live With Regis and Kelly website and vote on a temporary replacement for that dehydrated bag of chicken bones (i keed, i keed).

Two of NM’s Own are hedging forward as contenders, but the field remains wide-open. Git’ on-it NM et al. Send one of our girls to take the stool next to and school the cutest little leprechaun to ever yell at you from daytime television.

Reg has often made quips about NM, like whether or not he’d need a passport to perform at one of our Casinos (hardy, har, har – how Grand Torino/Arizona of him). Well, now that and so many more national and Canadian questions re: Nuevo México can be answered if we send ‘em one of ours.

Jackie James and Dana Cortez are deep in the race, but there’s still time to pick your pleasure or poison, e.g. red, green or Christmas. The freshly hyphenated Janae Herrera, Leah Black Attack and Lady Erica Viking have all been known for their good tail game.

Vote now through July 16 here. There’s also some giveaways or sweepstakes or something for voters…blah, blah, blah.

And p.s. Reg & Kell are owned by Buena Vista, which is owned by Disney and air on ABC which is owned by Disney and we lurves us some Disney in NM so, we should have dibs.

A role is a role, is a role – even (sometimes esp.) the non-paid ones. But, please do always take care in showing-up or even submitting for any role unless you are confident in or better yet can verify the authenticity and legitimacy of the posting party – and never, ever pay to be considered for a part or to register with a so-called “casting” site or agency. World Peace

Posted by on July 7, 2010 | 3 comments

Woefully left off your Sindicator’s published list of must reads is this classic that I believe should be ranked at least number three on the list of most promoted and read books of all time (which are #1 The Bible and #2 [ironically] The Purpose Driven Life).

I’ve made mention here and there of knowing the THREE components to world peace.

Now, for the first time will I declare/suggest the full list:

1. Birth Control
2. Religious Ambiguity
3. The realization/acknowledgment that EVERYONE POOPS!!!

Seriously, here are a few simple applications:

Birth Control ≠ Spencer Pratt, Lindsay Lohan, Jersey Shore progeny
Everyone Poops ≠ Gweneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham, etc.
Religious Ambiguity + Everyone Poops ≠ War
Birth Control + Religious Ambiguity ≠ Famine, Poverty, Disease
Everyone Poops + Religious Ambiguity ≠ H8

Put a think on the most annoying people/things in your life, recurring problems you face and see for yourself if any combination of your Sindicator’s Three Components of World Peace can work for you and yours.
