New Mexico Film Mourns the passing of Frank Tapia

We are honored to have been asked to recognize the passing of a beloved member of the close-knit New Mexico Film family.

In this great industry of passion, pride and inspiration, brothers and sisters in film are sharing sad goodbyes and fond memories of a great spirit among them who has departed to the other side.

Today New Mexico and this world say, rest in peace to a true comrade and friend to all, Frank Tapia.

Frank Tapia passed peacefully and painlessly at 8:30 last night. He was surrounded by his family, union brothers and friends. Words cannot describe my appreciation for the huge response by this Local. Literally minutes after my email his union family started to show up and by 6:30 there was a line waiting to say goodbye, the dirt of Lone Ranger mixing with the sawdust from Breaking Bad. I know that Frank and his family appreciated it and I believe it let him go in peace. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all.

    I was going through some old Miss USA stuff and found an old picture of Frank and decided to look him up online. It was in 1994, I think. He’s in surf up to his knees, holding a reflection screen, helping to get the perfect shot. He had his racoon cap on, shorts and barefoot and he said ” The fur was really flying!”He was such a huge personality. My sincere condolances to the family. He will be sorely missed.

    I was shocked to get the news of your passing and will miss you so much. You introduced me to Albuquerque and was always a true friend. I’m so regretful that so many years went that we did’nt see each other but glad we saw each other some towards the end. Your in a peaceful place now Frank and I will never forget you!

    My heart sunk when I saw this. I lost touch with Aunt Diane and Uncle Frank some years ago. I was trying to look Diane and Frank up beginning yesterday…I’m bringing my son Collin out to Albuquerque in a week and wanted to say hello. My prayers to Garrett, Diane and all the Tapia family. I love you Uncle Frank and miss you. I’m sorry I never got to see you again in this life. Jimmy Larkin

    Hard work, a lot of fun, a lot of music, a lot of sun. missed you over the past decade or so Frank, but I know you are now well and happy. My sincere condolences to friends and family as I know Frank will be missed.
