The film office says movie makers spent $50 million less in New Mexico during the fiscal year that just ended, compared to the year before.
The film office claims movie producers rushed to cash in before the cap, which artificially boosted the 2011 spending numbers, making this year’s drop look worse than it really is.
The legislature has ordered a long term study to nail down exactly what the economic impact of the movie making business is, but the study has not started. -Full story by Alex Tomlin here.
