Also in this broadcast we told you that the AMC comedy pilot for “We Hate Paul Revere” is expected to shoot at Albuquerque Studios within weeks. And come this fall a dramatic comedy pilot for USA Network currently titled, Stanistan is also headed to Albuquerque.
Revere is set in Boston, focusing on two brothers who are comically anti early American industrialist & Patriot Paul Revere, starring Ethan Sandler and Adrian Wenner. Stanistan follows the staff at the American Embassy in the Middle Eastern country as State Department workers, covert CIA officers and journalists strike a delicate balance of danger and absurdity.
Last week’s San Diego Comic Con was full of exciting reveals, announcements and sightings. One upcoming sci-fi thriller gaining buzz and building anticipation is the sci-fi thriller, “Maze Runner”. The biggest news on Maze at SDCC is that a sequel is already in the works…and guess where it’s expected to land. That’s right kids, while we’re waiting for the “Captain Fantastic” train, chew on the prospect of “The Maze Runner” becoming a big hit and get ready for its sequel to hit New Mexico’s bottom line!
While insiders have confirmed with OHI that Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul is on the roster to appear in the show’s upcoming prequel “Better Call Saul”, speculation abounds about which other cast and production members are or might be attached.
Saul Goodman née James McGill, beloved Mike Ehrmantraut and at least a glimpse of Jesse Pinkman are mounting reasons why Bad fans the world over are itching for the “early 2015” debut. Filming is meticulously underway in Albuquerque where the tiniest glimpses of what can be expected are coming to light. And what’s coming to light is that the BCS team is tight and right.
By his own account the bump from a November 2014 premiere into 2015 is due to Vince Gilligan’s producing and directing style being “slow as mud”, so says the Bad creator himself who continued, “I still feel I’m very slow for television”, at the recent Television Critics Association.
Slow and steady she goes, by all ground accounts here in the ABQ, Saul co-creators Gilligan and Peter Gould are hard at work carefully crafting the kind of darkly comedic drama that has the masses addicted to their work.
And what of the at first haphazard chem teacher turned drug kingpin? Like Aaron Paul, Bryan Cranston has purportedly been attached to the new show, but not only with a possible turn as either Heisenberg and/or Mr. White in the series’ flexi-time-line, but behind the camera as an episode DIRECTOR.
Cranston directed episodes of Breaking Bad (Blood Money, No Más, Seven Thirty-Seven), an episode each of The Office and Modern Family, and seven episodes of Malcolm in the Middle, with feature film direction under his belt in the 1999 film, Last Chance, which he also wrote and starred in.
Any way you look at it this series is shaping up to be another WINNER.
Watch for the television production family that spawned Saul on the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards show, airing Monday August 25 on NBC, where Breaking Bad has been nominated one last time for a whopping 16 Emmys.

While nearly all other areas of New Mexico commerce and job growth have been floundering over the last several years, The New Mexico Film Industry has been a proven revenue generator for the state in the form of in-state spending, employment, and support service industries. Conservative estimates of the impact of film on the state credit production spending for generating $1.5B in economic output and just under 16K full time jobs over the past four years.
Today the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees of New Mexico (IATSE 480), responds to a study of the impact of Film jobs across the state, by saying in part:
“We just received the study on the impact of film and film incentives on the New Mexico economy from the New Mexico Film Office. We are still studying the cross tabs but our first impression is that this study confirms what we’ve been saying all along – that movies make money for New Mexico. It is interesting that on average full time movie jobs pay over $50,000 per year. Over 8000 jobs have been created over the last four years. When we include the next phase of the study with the positive impact on tourism and infrastructure spending we’re going to be right around where the last study concluded and that is a huge positive for the state. We want to thank everyone who participated, especially Senator Tim Keller who insisted that a full and impartial study been conducted.”
Hard fought ground gained by industry faithful with a never say die attitude. Multiple films and series are currently filming in New Mexico, with news of TWO more feature films and ANOTHER television pilot in the pipeline!
Burning Bodhi stars Kaley Cuoco, Sasha Pieterse, Cody Horn, Meghann Fahy, Landon Liboiron, Tatanka Means and Virginia Madsen.
The coming of age story written and directed by McDuffie follows Dylan – a young man, who upon learning via social media that one of his best friends from high school suddenly died heads back to his hometown in New Mexico, where he’s confronted by a complex grid of issues and regrets, past and present, involving his troublesome parents and heartbroken first love.

“Sicario” Blunt will play a police officer in the Southwest who crosses the border with a group of mercenaries to track down a dangerous drug lord (hint, not Walter White). The film is already getting a lot of early buzz due to Villeneauve’s attachment and for the gritty premise being heroine driven.
The production will be hiring Hispanic men, women and children, active and former military as well as beat-up old cars.

Never say die to the folks behind the upcoming Albuquerque Breaking Bad Fan Fest. Like the Kingpin and his devoted protégé, Miguel Jaramillo and Jennie Rexer are on a quest, a quest to bring the Breaking Bad universe what it truly needs to thrive – and that is a place to convene, revel and rejoice in all the splendor that is Breaking Bad mania.
And unlike any old venue or setting that may house masses for weekend or week-long festivities, such as Star-trek conventions, or general comic festivals, the ALBUQUERQUE BREAKING BAD FAN FEST will take place in the home of Vince Gilligan’s masterpiece.
That’s right, the happy accident that led to Albuquerque becoming a “central character” in the show, leads all roads back to the ultimate Breaking Bad mecca – the only place in the world where tourists from all over the globe can regularly be seen snapping pics at the John B. Robert dam, sitting in a booth at Twisters, in front of Octopus Car Wash, in front of the “White House”, even touring around the city just like the stars!
Come November 2014 these “Baddies” and many more can make the most out of their fandom at the ultimate “on location” fan fest.
“We’re happy to announce plans for an Albuquerque Breaking Bad Fan Fest are moving forward! We were unable to reach our Kickstarter goal, but the Fest will go on! Please stay tuned for more info on this page and www.ABQBreakingBadFest.com. Save the date: November 7th & 8th, 2014!”
