SANTA FE- The New Mexico Film Foundation announced that Santa Fe filmmaker Michael Becker’s film “Delivery From Earth” will premiere at locations around the country including the Kennedy Space Center on Dec 4th as part of the launch of the Orion Spacecraft. Becker won the Lockheed Martin Filmmaker Grant offered by the New Mexico Film Foundation earlier this year.
Becker was one of 30 New Mexico independent filmmakers who submitted an application for the grant. Applicants were asked to submit a concept for a 3-5 minute movie that deals with the theme of deep space exploration and pioneering and asks the questions ‘…and what now…do we stop exploring?” Becker’s film offers a promising vision of the future in “Delivery from Earth.” The story follows a young Navajo boy and his family as they watch history in the making – the birth of the first human born on Mars.
Nearly 200 museums and science centers around the United States will participate in the Orion First Flight Viewing event, streaming launch videos, holding panel discussions and displaying space exploration exhibits. Participants will have the option of including Becker’s film in their programing.
Becker plans on traveling to Florida several days prior to the launch to talk about his film and to witness the launch of Orion Spacecraft on December 4th. “From the seed of an idea about a child born on Mars, a project was realized by bringing together many talented people. We hope audiences enjoy watching the film as much as we enjoyed making it.” Said Becker.
The following is a list of First Flight Viewing Events locations in New Mexico:
New Mexico Museum of Space History (Alamogordo, NM)
New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science (Albuquerque, NM)
Robert H. Goddard Planetarium at the Roswell Museum and Art Center (Roswell, NM)
Hefferan Planetarium (Albuquerque, NM)
E3 Children’s Museum & Science Center (Farmington, NM)
A complete list of participating Event Viewing locations can be found here.
Soooo…without the usual 3 tier “likelihood” of semi-confirmation that OHI usually employs as definitive speculation that something “might be happening” in New Mexico, it seems that some major ventures in guessing will be necessary to nab what may eventually become a major scoop…
In what might sound like, “movie sequels that have already been made” news, it appears that the recently greenlit, “INDEPENDENCE DAY 2”, with or without Will Smith, WILL HEAD to NM in the coming months.
OHI readers may recall that Will Smith and his son, Jaden, made an “After Earth” visit out New Mexico way back in the Spring of ’13. Well, now we wait for more by way of the first casting call and/or some more substantiation from support services or others in the know, on whether or not ID2 is indeed destined to be in our southwestern midst.
We shan’t have to wait long as the skinny on the release date deems for an expedient start, so as to align with the 20th anniversary (yup, it’s been near on TWENTY YEARS) of the release of the original…

WWE Studios and Lionsgate team up again on ‘The Condemned 2: Desert Prey’: WWE.COM
Lionsgate, the premier next-generation global content leader, and WWE Studios have announced the production of “The Condemned 2: Desert Prey,” (working title), which extends the long-standing partnership between the two studios.
Roel Reiné (“Death Race: Inferno,” “The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption”) is set to direct with WWE Superstar Randy Orton attached to star. “The Condemned 2” marks Reiné’s and Orton’s second film together after the successful release of “12 Rounds 2: Reloaded.” Alan McElroy (“The Marine 4: Moving Target”) wrote the script.
“The Condemned 2” follows a former bounty hunter (Orton) who soon finds himself on the run as part of a newly revamped, high-stakes and deadly Condemned tournament.
“We’re thrilled to be continuing ‘The Condemned’ franchise with Randy, Roel and our terrific partners at Lionsgate,” said Michael Luisi, WWE Studios President.
WWE Studios will leverage its extensive multi-platform reach to promote the film.
“We are excited to be reteaming with WWE on “The Condemned 2,” after such a positive experience on the original film,” said Lionsgate Co-Chief Operating Officer and Motion Picture Group President Steve Beeks. “The combination of their brand marketing capabilities, creativity and deep lineup of dynamic onscreen talent result in a powerful partnership.”
WWE Studios and Lionsgate previously collaborated on “The Condemned,” “See No Evil” and “Leprechaun: Origins,” as well the just-released “See No Evil 2.” In 2015, the two studios will release the first two installments of their “Action Six-Pack” series: “Vendetta,” directed by The Soska Sisters (“See No Evil 2”) and starring WWE Superstar Paul “Big Show” Wight, as well as “Lockdown,” directed by Stephen Reynolds (“Tomb Raider Ascension”) and starring WWE Superstar Dean Ambrose.
Bradley Buchanan, SVP of Business Affairs, negotiated the deal on behalf of WWE Studios, and Wendy Jaffe, EVP of Business & Legal Affairs, negotiated the deal on behalf of Lionsgate.

Netflix Picks Up ‘Longmire’ for Season 4 – Variety
Latest word is that production will resume in New Mexico next spring!
The #LongmirePosse has been anxiously waiting for the popular New Mexico made series to find a new network home. Weeks ago insiders were hinting to OHI that a Netflix production would be headed to NM for a full season shoot. And while a filming incentive dust-up in Maryland put the popular Netflix series, “House of Cards” in contention for a visit, the more-sensical, already New Mexico outfitted production shakes out to be the pending series shoot.
A cross check with additional OHI sources quietly screams that it is the beloved A&E ousted series which should be all but set to soon saddle-up in its old stomping grounds and resume filming in New Mexico for a long awaited season four!
