They’re Heeeere!

Posted by Sindicator on September 4, 2010 | 2 comments

Thx. Kristelle

Or they’re coming anyway and looking to hire from within. We’re all for creating more work for natives, HOWEVER…

Ahhemm, incoming madame Governess perhaps t’is time to look into what/how this shall be regulated. Oui? Ou non?

Personally I’ve long been awaiting it as an inevitability, torn between the positive exposure of our great state, preserving the privacy and integrity of our home grown productions and the possibility of spawning the pure evil, sprung from photog seeking/feeding media wh-ores.

We’ve said it before – there will eventually be the need for regulation here as in the Governator’s state – better sooner than later? Chime in & chime up NM.

and p.s. before you call me out for calling the kettle a big ol’ bag of pot…click

It may not be Forever yet, but another one of the adolescent classic novels by the prolific author Judy Blume is being committed to film right here in NM later this Fall.

The writer herself invites die-hards to give their very own input on casting the cherished characters of Tiger Eyes here.

Amber Entertainment and the British supermarket chain Tesco are partnered on this direct to DVD feature that will be sold exclusively at the chain for the first three months of distribution.

The film is part of a multi-picture deal of the Amber/Tesco partnership in which works by Jackie Collins, Rebecca Stead, and Blume have and will be produced.

Meteor or Cowboy? Favs….

Posted by Sindicator on August 3, 2010 | No comments

“A meteor exploded in the atmosphere near Santa Fe, New Mexico just before 5 a.m. on the morning of July 31. Local amateur radio astronomer Thomas Ashcraft captured the event from his personal observatory using an all-sky optical video camera developed by Sandia National Laboratories that is specifically sensitive to the near infrared flashes that meteors create.

The video only contains the first part of the fireball’s four-minute-long echo captured by Ashcraft’s antennas. Forward scatter radar is different from traditional radar detection because instead of sending out a cone of radio waves, it uses waves that are already beaming in the ionosphere. – Via Wired Science

Was this truly weird science or did a little production in Northern N. Mex have a little something to do with this???

Jon Favreau’s Cowboys and Aliens has been shooting for a couple of months now – perhaps une grande finale?

Thorish

Posted by Sindicator on July 19, 2010 | No comments

Los Angeles Times

From the other worldly desert hammer to the Hall of Asgard (above) the mighty Thor is edging toward completion and glimpses of this Kenneth Branagh inception continue to be put forward.

Filmed between California (Del Mar, L.A., Raleigh Manhattan Beach Studios) and New Mexico (Santa Fe and Galisteo), we’ve so far seen the Chris Hemsworth embodiment of the Thunder God, the Destroyer in the desert, and have been tagged in the Global coverage (flattering and not) of this Marvel.

Don’t forget the Thor-fest rolls into Comic Con with many other NM productions!

Branagh & co.’s Thor hits theaters May 2011 in 3D!!

World Peace

Posted by Sindicator on July 7, 2010 | 2 comments

Woefully left off your Sindicator’s published list of must reads is this classic that I believe should be ranked at least number three on the list of most promoted and read books of all time (which are #1 The Bible and #2 [ironically] The Purpose Driven Life).

I’ve made mention here and there of knowing the THREE components to world peace.

Now, for the first time will I declare/suggest the full list:

1. Birth Control
2. Religious Ambiguity
3. The realization/acknowledgment that EVERYONE POOPS!!!

Seriously, here are a few simple applications:

Birth Control ≠ Spencer Pratt, Lindsay Lohan, Jersey Shore progeny
Everyone Poops ≠ Gweneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham, etc.
Religious Ambiguity + Everyone Poops ≠ War
Birth Control + Religious Ambiguity ≠ Famine, Poverty, Disease
Everyone Poops + Religious Ambiguity ≠ H8

Put a think on the most annoying people/things in your life, recurring problems you face and see for yourself if any combination of your Sindicator’s Three Components of World Peace can work for you and yours.

Hype Nation 10% N. Mex.

Posted by Sindicator on June 15, 2010 | No comments

American music producer Teddy Riley (Michael Jackson, John Legend, Pussycat Dolls) has assembled a seven girl group of performers expected to strut their skills in the upcoming Korean 3-D film Hype Nation.

Riley is slated to debut the group in Korea, then Thailand and China this fall. By winter an entire Hype Nation global tour will be underway.

This potential global “supergroup” is expected to be signed by American label Interscope Records. The debut single and the bulk of the highly anticipated 3-D movie will be crafted in Korea – but at least a portion is expected to be filmed in New Mexico.

The movie will also star American born actor/dancer/rapper Jay Park and is an investment of CJ and Universal International.

p.s. No confirmation yet on whether our beloved Cowboys and Aliens will be first to show NM in 3D.

Captain America ain’t so American. The film, Captain America: The First Avenger is slated to shoot this summer in Surrey, England, UK?!?

Though the film is still in its early stages it is far along enough to be costuming-up in these leaked photos of the Captain’s mocked-up, get-up.

Let’s hope the Marvel Legend will follow the mouse tracks all the way to New Mexico like his brothers Thor and Iron Man, and his cousin Cowboys and Aliens.

On that note here is the latest vision of Thor’s full costume to compliment your wetted appetite of his hammer and head shot.

Megawatt, NM

Posted by Sindicator on April 7, 2010 | No comments

When East meets the Southern Hemosphere you’ve made a right turn at Albuquerque.

It’s Bollywood not Hollywood which is the most prolific film industry in the world. And in this clash of quietly building titans both share the touchstone that is uniquely New Mexico Film.

From the reigning number one at the U.S. box office to the up and coming global release of Bollywood’s most beloved’s new film, New Mexico dips a toe in the pool of film history and greatness.

In the curious case of the simplest superstar who’s swept American film, Sam Worthington made his first, biggest U.S. splash in the NM film, Terminator Salvation. Where director McG is quoted as saying, “He’s a no bull**** kind of guy…we had to keep him from getting in bar fights in New Mexico. He’s that kind of guy.”

And as we’ve diligently been ~reporting to you, the upcoming global release of Bollywood’s Kites is sure to rock the film world from its NM platform. Back in ’08 the film’s star, Hrithik Roshan stirred-up all kinds of fanfare while here shooting.

Kites is scheduled for worldwide release on May 21, in which the mega movie star Roshan makes his musical debut. Worthington has at least three more films on his imminent horizon.

And New Mexico is at the ready to take flight from its repose as the next, best player in the game – there’s no business like it, that business we call…show.

New Mexico a Globe-go

Posted by Sindicator on April 6, 2010 | No comments

“Richard Branson, de Britse miljardair en oprichter van Virgin Galatic hoopt al in 2011 de eerste passagiersvlucht te kunnen maken vanaf het nog in aanbouw zijnde Spaceport America in New Mexico. Er zijn inmiddels al ongeveer 330 reserveringen voor zo’n vlucht.” – Engineernet.be

“‘Shantaram’ is sleeping now. It just depends on Johnny Depp. He is the producer and quite obsessed by the movie. So, I am sure we will be making ‘Shantaram’. Johnny is an incredibly-busy actor, and the film will surely roll when Johnny has a window of time.” – Director Mira Nair, to The Hindu re: her upcoming film based on the novel by Gregory David Roberts, slated to shoot in New Mexico.

“Dovrebbero iniziare domani le riprese in esterni di Thor, il kolossal supereroistico tratto dai fumetti Marvel e diretto da Kenneth Branagh. Pare che produzione abbia ricreato una intera cittadina in New Mexico…” -BadTasteit

“I produttori hanno cercato in lungo e largo un luogo che apparisse come un posto di ristoro per camionisti nel mezzo del deserto del Mojave. “Tutti sanno com’è, giusto?” dice Stewart “Prova a trovarlo. Noi abbiamo dovuto ricostruirlo nel New Mexico. Sembrava che era lì da cinquant’anni. Ancora oggi le persone ci si fermano per fare rifornimento di carburante”. – Megamodo

“Between New Moon and Eclipse, I filmed Remember Me, a dramatic romantic movie. In February I will begin in Budapest Bel Ami, with Uma Thurman and Kristen Scott Thomas. And next summer the western Unbound Captives in New Mexico, with Hugh Jackman. My character was kidnapped by comanches, and doesn’t speak a word of English. They are different movies, I don’t want to be a vampire for the rest of my life.” Robert Pattinson to Italy’s Panorama Magazine

– MyFilm.gr

That’s where I’m probably the most comfortable of all, being alone – I’m not someone who is particularly social, even though you wouldn’t know that.” -Tom Ford via The Age, Australia

NM’s Golden Globen Girls on V-Day

NM’s Own Pretty Woman had ‘em squawkin’ from Deutschland to Ireland over her racy Valentines Day advice to a perky reporter during a press stop for her latest film of the same name.

Jules’ advice was simple, as is the general male of the species she may have unwittingly implied when suggesting, dinner, a drink and “take your top off!”

Above is the artfully photoshopped melding of two of NM’s Own, a certain Roswell native, a-topped with Jules’ head to really drive home the message.

The incomparable, veteran actress and fellow New Mexican Shirley MacLaine also stars in the new Gary Marshall film which opens February 12.

p.s. Demi doesn’t actually appear in the Valentine’s Day movie, but she lends her cub to dull the ache of watching scenes with Miseralba.
