Slow Burn Aids Safe House NM

Posted by Sindicator on September 4, 2010 | No comments

Tonight at Malarky’s, Slow Burn “Albuquerque’s Ultimate Party Rock Band” take the stage for a second night bringing “booze, babes, raffles, prizes & auctions” together with the raucous clang of hard rock topped off with the sweetness of triumph over adversity.

The sexy ladies of the Duke City Darlins join Slow Burn in this one of a kind event where the music and good times are the passion play aiming to slam the lid on “intimate partner domestic violence”.

Join them to raise funds and awareness for S.A.F.E. House New Mexico, who “provide temporary shelter, services, and education for women and their children who are in a state of crisis as a result of physical, sexual, emotional or economic abuse, and to assist in developing other services to meet related needs of women as the Association may see fit in the future.”

¿Et tu Demi?

Posted by Sindicator on September 1, 2010 | 2 comments

It’s been a long time since Demi Moore was a but a child from Roswell New Mexico. She’s experienced quite the trajectile ride from Area 51 to center stage/screen, global dogooding, to gyrating on rappers and her youthful hubs.

But something the Dems ain’t done es una película de Nuevo México. Yes, from the time she absconded to and conquered La, la land, to her infamous purchases of small town America and commendable humanitarian efforts…N. Mex hasn’t seen much of ‘er.

Let’s git’ wit Mrs. Kutcher (@mrskutcher) and ask her when she’s coming home, who does she want for her home state’s first Governess, when she’s gonna make a flick here, etc., etc.

Because we is good people – from So. Nem. to North 40 and everywhere in-between, whose booming film industry could really use a boost from her wattage – a little love from the Roswellian could result in more j-o-b-s which she could help parlay in to more philanthropic ways from we her neglected homies.

Before you hate on me (y’all didn’t even know she did half this stuff till I tol’ you) for bein’ hater I ain’t hatin’ I’m just callin’ a sister back home.

The Dems is currently betwixt Chi-town, Motor City and Gay Paree shooting the sure to be cinematic gold LOL: Laughing Out Loud with Miley Cyrus (who filmed her BIG Hannah Montana movie in her home state of Tennessee…hmmmm).

Maybe Dems, Kutch and the affable Willis can star in the sure to be remade Threesome, N. Mex Style…a.k.a. two slabs of beef with extra cheese!

And p.s. if Moore has any trouble finding us…NPH can show her the way ;)

Foxy Rox

Posted by Sindicator on August 7, 2010 | One comment

I had to look long and hard (pi) to find a pic that didn’t look like a Vivid cover shot (I almost had to resort to a pic of her hobbit-like thumb, because she just can’t get away with looking like that all over!), to accompany this very serious post to declare that try I as I might to resist her I have fallen for the Fox. I now stand with Mickey?!?

Rather than spending her time trying to come-up with a deliciously stoopid sex tape name, rehab stint, lesbian faux-mance etc., etc., Megan Fox remains a steadfast star.

From a graceful exit from x-formers, to the best APS applicable PSA I’ve ever seen to her charitable donations left and right, I must now take stock in those whose opinions I value in the anyway and join ‘em in their love of the Fox.

This story of how the young actress recently donated her pay from a video shoot to a domestic violence shelter won’t get one one-millionth of the play racist, misogynistic, tyrannical rage or Ambien laced whore-mongering garners these days, but I hope you’ll spread the word and awareness about getting out, standing-up and stopping the violence til it’s as prevalent as the the oh-so steamy pics of the little miss turned Mrs. above.

Come back soon…NM misses you esp. Mugs & BSM!

Lots O’ Locks

Posted by Sindicator on August 2, 2010 | No comments

A subtly jarring reminder to encourage those sure to shear, long manes in your life to pony-up and donate their tresses to organizations that will prepare and provide wigs and hair pieces for patients and survivors of medical illnesses.

Locks of Love “provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.”

In our experiences donating hair we’ve learned that Locks of Love cannot use hair that is predominately gray because their hair is for children, but they do accept it to be sold to offset their costs in running the organization.

Pantene Beautiful Lengths campaign will take your grays (if no more than 5%) for use in wigs for women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatments.

Click for full donating requirements and instructions to these organizations:

Locks of Love

There are many more organizations out there, please don’t hesitate to investigate further and give!

And again, this is the type of giving that we’re looking to see in NM!

Good Fella

Albuquerque son Neil Patrick Harris returns next month to make good on his quick commitment to help revive a tragedy stricken branch of his New Mexico family tree.

Musical Theatre Southwest in NE Albuquerque, Harris’ home town, was ravaged by flames in May as we told you here last month.

The Harris Family will host a fund raising dinner on August 22nd at their local restaurant Perennials.

Only 100 tickets will be made available at $150 ea.

Tickets must be purchased in advanced and will not be sold at the door
of the red carpet event. If you would like to buy tickets, you can call
Musical Theatre Southwest at 265-9119.

“The fire devastated the theatre company, but we have been amazed
at the outpouring of community support, including the generosity of Neil’s
family,” said board member Rick Huff, who has worked with the theatre
company for more than 40 years.
“Many New Mexico families literally grew up seeing and participating in
the productions of the theatre company. It’s so moving to see them come
back and support MTS after this tragedy,”
- William Stafford, of Musical Theatre Southwest.

Imus New Mexico

Posted by Sindicator on July 19, 2010 | No comments

I miss New Mexico sometimes….

Anydigress, loudmouthed New Mexico resident Don Imus of radio fame and logorrhea infamy turns 70 this Friday.

Like many of his fellow New Mexicans (home grown & adopted), Imus does his share of dogooding from this scenic & spiritual Southwest base.

The Imus Ranch in Ribera, New Mexico is a working cattle ranch for kids with cancer. At the Imus Ranch online Store you can purchase coffees, salsa, chips, Green Cleaning products and Ranch hats & mugs – 100% of the proceeds benefit the work they do there.

More on the oft offensive I-man here, from the NY Daily News.

Smart Girls Go Wild: The Jersey Antidote

Posted by Sindicator on June 16, 2010 | No comments

From the jersey shore to SNC on the storied dunes of Abu Dhabi girls and the women who act like them have ample samples of how to act a fool.

Well, here are three outlets for boys and girls alike where substance rather than infamy through idiocy is priority:

Brought to you by none other than former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, iCivics.org teaches A. No. 1 the definition of CIVICS. The web based education project is “designed to teach students civics and inspire them to be active participants in our democracy.”

Like the extinction of arts and physical education, there is overwhelmingly no financial planning taught in primary school – thus we are all primed and ready to fall into debt and economic despair fresh out of the uncultured, unhealthy gates. BizKid$.com aims to teach while lending a clue to both youth and adults about how and why to take care of personal economics.

The smart hilariousness of Amy Poehler sweeps the web in her series Smart Girls at the Party where they, “celebrate extraordinary individuals who are changing the world by being themselves.” The humor fueled web series gets eye to eye with young women using their voice to encourage and inspire each other to be confident in being a smart girl!

Can’t Help Falling in Love with NPH

Posted by Sindicator on June 15, 2010 | No comments

If you’re going to find yourself in the Los Angeles area in the near future and you want to spend a magical night with NM’s Own Neil Patrick Harris, there’s still time to bid on a dinner for four at the famed Hollywood Magic Castle where you will be joined by NPH himself.

Current bidding stands at $2,500 with proceeds to benefit Project Angel Food, whose mission is “to nourish the body and spirit of men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-threatening illnesses. Volunteers and staff cook and deliver free and nutritious meals prepared with love throughout Los Angeles County, acting out of a sense of urgency because hunger and illness do not wait.”

That may seem a little pricey being that it is at the high-end for average monthly income of most employed New Mexicans – but we’re sure NPH will get an even heftier haul from someone with beaucoup disposable cash and it’s so good to see our home boy giving back here, there and everywhere he can!

NPH Gives Back in this Moment of Darkness

Posted by Sindicator on June 8, 2010 | 4 comments

Arial photo and quote via KRQE

A wretched fire tore through New Mexico’s Own Musical Theatre Southwest last month. The Theatre’s buildings and all that was housed therein have been deemed a total loss.

Among the hundreds nay thousands of people who’ve worked and/or watched works performed there whom were devastated but not destroyed by the destruction is one of New Mexico’s favorite, most talented, and successful sons.

Our beloved Neil Patrick Harris and the entire Q based Harris family are stepping-up. Before hitting it big as the cutest lil’ doc on the block as genius Doogie Howser, NPH took part in the Musical Theatre Southwest production of Peter Pan in the 1980′s.

“It played a part in his progress into the big Hollywood world, and it’s just been a great little theater company here for 50 years…We will step up and help; we want to help,” his brother Brian Harris said.

Details of the Harris family assistance coming to the Theatre to follow!

Hose Hair Raising Boom Boom POW

Posted by Sindicator on May 23, 2010 | One comment

Matter of Trust.org

Now these are dreads with purpose. Hair booms are a completely green, renewable resource that sop-up the oily slicks of horror rapidly flowing toward innocent wildlife, habitat, inhabitants and industry of the Gulf.

But the booms themselves are endangered because the organizations that are working tirelessly to help ease this mess are coming-up short hosed.

Your sad, old pantyhose can help rescue the gulf coast. We’ve all got or know someone who has wads of nylons in the very back of their underwear drawer.

Gather-up your grandma’s old medias and hook-up with Matter of Trust dot Org for the complete instructions on how to send ‘em in to aid in the mass clean-up required to save our Gulf Coast from the catastrophic (and ongoing) BP oil spill.

And P.S. Calling all NM Alpacas and furry friends. Matter of Trust and Excess Access need all the hair & fur clippings you can muster for their reserves.

Another One Sticks-it to the Duke City

C-lister Donald Faison spits on the Q in some whiney remarks he made on his Twit page. Didn’t anyone teach a boy, “if you ain’t got nothin’ nice to say…”. Hasn’t bro seen all the news headlines re: These Tough Economic Times?

Criminy, if only we had a buck for every time that tired ol’ phrase was used in the past calendar year we’d be back in the black and then some. The actor should stick to the script whilst he’s still got one in hand.

Shiz, Oscar winning NM Actor Jeff Bridges pimped for Hyndai and is currently hard at work in NM on True Grit. Now that’s how you do.

I guess the only way these ungrateful crybabies will learn to do instead of yap is by taking a look around – Cranston=Emmy, Bridges=Oscar.

We’ll go ahead and put out another “Open Call”: Stars ask plenty from the public in the way of support for their work, their industry and for personal and global causes. I’m sure a donation of Faison’s time or funds would be greatly appreciated by any number of deserving and much in need Community Service Organizations. Cast and crew of NM productions that regularly give back shine as fine examples for any and all who wish to get started on their giving way…

Faison is in town shooting the CBS television pilot The Odds.
