Scary NM production gal lands lead in iconic horror remake

Posted by on March 27, 2012 | Comments Off

As we told you here, here and here, the “scary” lil’ lady known’ish to the world as Chloe Moretz is A FORCE to be reckoned with!

The next force she’ll be reckon’ with is one of the most the time honored horror stories of MY GENERATION…the star featured in New Mexico productions, “The Eye” and “Let Me In” has been cast as the next CARRIE!!!!

THIS ROCKS! Some remakes work and actually hold their own as did the NM production of “Fright Night”, and now with this amazing young starlet in the lead me thinks the CARRIE reboot has a fighting chance (BUT PLEASE DEAR GOD(S) LET THERE BE MORE ORIGINAL SCRIPTED FILM AND TELEVISION IN OUR FUTURE).

Anyhoo, WE LOVES us some CHLOE as much as our own home-grown NM talent, and that rabidly overlooked nut-butter boy, WHO SHOULD’VE been the next Spiderman), but I digress…and anxiously await the redux of this childhood horror starring a fright queen anew, who’s no stranger to NM.

p.s. young Chlo was set to head back to NM for her third stint, except, but, if, and until some changes including recasting the co-star from sexy snaggle-tooth Dunst to amazballs sexy, not-so lively Blake Lively and a production location switch of the indie flick Hick, in theaters May 11.

Got Your Goat

Posted by on March 19, 2011 | One comment

While Paul is in theaters, Let Me In is hot on Netflix and more and more NM Films roll around the world, with many more to come – the GOATS shoot is ON!

Heading into its second week in production Duchovny’s epic hair reportedly faces little competition on set, extras casting continues and we just got word that funny man & actor extraordinaire Anthony Anderson is a part of the cast – pictured here with one of NM’s Own most handsome, Vincent E. McDaniel hard at work!

Anderson is in-n-outta here…vaya con dios compadre…why do I hear Spanish when I see him? Is that just a weird subconscious fantasy of mine or did he whip out some Español in a role or two? Anyhoo…every pic, word and deet we get a trickle of from the Goats production sound like it’s gonna be a WINNER!

Mr. Megan Fox and foxy Mena Suvari star in the upcoming sci-fi, horror Last Stop, filmed in Ruidoso NM. The film is scheduled to be released later this year – no word on if it will be cinematical or DVD direct.

Already minted to DVD and Blueray is the incredible Hammer Films NM Horror/Thriller Let Me In. This chilly horror stars NM’s Own (adopted) scary little lady Chloe Moretz – who I maintain is a FORCE to be reckoned with – I’m talking to you ACADEMY.

Moretz is scheduled to be back for her third NM film, Hick at the end of the month!

As of today she’s in a dead (pun) heat with Oscar contender Hailee Steinfeld in our own Golden Tumbleweed race for NM’s favorite leading lady of the past year…

The headlining pasty white vamps, creepish villains and blood-let victims of our long chronicled Wholly New Mexico film Let Me In may not be ready to hit the red and yellow carpet, but a premiere party will go on for the local extras, cast & crew in Los Alamos today:

“The Overture film, “Let Me In” premiers at the Reel Deal Theater on Friday with two showings; one at 6:50 p.m. and the other at 9:15 p.m.
Los Alamos County will co-sponsor a “red carpet” premiere with the Reel Deal for “Let Me In,” which will features prizes and special giveaways.
The movie was filmed in Los Alamos nearly a year ago and features several local community members, including teens from the middle and high schools. Staff from the county’s film office will serve free cake and punch in the lobby before each showing and have giveaways from the movie distribution company, such as copies of the book that was the basis of the film “Let the Right One In,” plus free movie posters.
Not only was “Let Me In” filmed in Los Alamos, but the actual town in the movie is Los Alamos. Many local residents were hired as extras and some of the kids in the film are wearing their ‘Topper High School letter
jackets with LA emblazoned on them.
The film has received rave reviews on all fronts and the Internet movie site, Rotten Tomatoes, scored it the highest at 100 percent. Some of the locations included in the filming were the high school, Barranca Mesa, the culvert at the roundabout, Ashley Pond and the ice rink
Expect long lines and sold out shows so buy your tickets early and arrive at the theater well in advance of your show time.”

This Wholly New Mexico film has one supremely creepy movie poster. Love it?

The forthcoming redux of the Swedish horror Let The Right One In by Hammer films is one bloody NM production. Let Me In premiered last night at the Toronto Film Festival.

Scheduled for wide’ish release on October 1. Click here for full ©Sindication coverage of the production and the official trailer.

The Wholly New Mexico film Passion Play also premiered to some harsh reviews last night in Toronto – but it seems that Bill Murray manages to win high praise overall.

Comic Con 2010, NM

Not one but THREE FOUR New Mexico Films will be showcased at this year’s largest fiction/fantasy fan convention, Comic Con International in San Diego California, July 22 – 25.

My beloved Cowboy(s) and Aliens, now filming in the vast seclusion of our New Mexico desert, will be reviewed by non-other than director Jon Favreau (Iron Man) on Saturday to include an open Q & A. Perhaps there Favs will disclose the yay or nay on his gorgeous film’s dimensions be it 2 or 3!!! Like Iron Man’s cousin Thor…

Thor is in and out of the news, most recently for this just released production still for the film which is catching its unfair share of flack. Producer Kevin Feige will be on hand to discuss the much anticipated Marvel release of New Mexico’s Thor and the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger.

“Scheduled to appear for Universal Pictures’ sci-fi comedy-adventure Paul are a who’s who of film comedy. Director Greg Mottola (Superbad) will be joined by cast members Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz), Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead), Kristen Wiig (Date Night), Bill Hader (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), Jeffrey Tambor (The Hangover), Joe Lo Truglio (Role Models), Seth Rogen (The Green Hornet), and Sigourney Weaver (Baby Mama) as they discuss the movie about two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage to Comic-Con ultimately takes them to America’s UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who takes them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever. Q&A session to follow.” – Screen Rant

“The cast and filmmakers of (NM’s) Let Me In, a haunting and provocative thriller written and directed by filmmaker Matt Reeves (Cloverfield), give the Hall H audience a sneak peek at this highly anticipated film. Let Me In is an astonishing coming-of-age story involving a young girl (Kick Ass’s Chloe Moretz) and an alienated boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee from The Road) unlike any you have seen. Based on the bestselling Swedish novel Lat den Ratte Komma (Let The Right One In) by John Ajvide Lindqvist and the highly acclaimed film of the same name, Let Me In takes audiences straight to the troubled heart of adolescent longing and loneliness. Academy Award-nominee Richard Jenkins (The Visitor) also stars in this exhilarating reboot of the beloved original.” – Comic Con

ed. notes: SyFy Network’s NM production, Stargate Universe will also hold court. And last year’s NM Comic Con reps. The Book of Eli and Legion are now out on DVD.

Thanks (and congrats) Nathan

BEHOLD! The International trailer for Let Me In – the highly anticipated horror shot right here in New Mexico by Hammer Films. The movie stars our favorite scary little lady and employed many of NM’s Own. ¡Cucuy!

Chloe Moretz (Kick Ass, 500 Days of Summer) who already has two NM films under her belt (Let Me In, The Eye) will return later this year in the Taylor Lane Productions film, Hick – based on the novel and adapted screenplay by Andrea Portes.

The pre-embryonic dish on the dark drama, to be directed by Derick Martini, is that this will be the edgiest role yet for this young but seasoned actress, maybe shades of Jodi Foster à la Taxi Driver? As they say on the evening news…You heard it here first!

NM’s Own Let Me In and Thor make the cover and inside the lovely Rachel Weisz maintains that, Unbound Captives w/R. Patz & Hugh Jack is indeed production bound.

That steamy cover and the three NM links rank this glossy mag a ‘scorcher’ on the Scoville scale of HOT!

And though the printed press above boasts your “first look” at Thor the net buzz(ards) have long had your sneaks including this (censored) escándaloso snapshot scooped by Latino Review – Horale!

Gaining More Horror

Horror genre giants, Hammer Films have two New Mexico productions forthcoming, The Resident and Let Me In.

Look to Legion for NM Horror now on DVD and local production house Fireborn Films has horror in progress.

UPDATE 090410: Erik has really been workin’ it NM style. As the list of NM productions continues to grow so does his resume. Basically he’s kicking butt, taking names and has managed to pick-up one of NM’s most highly sought after numbers!

New Mexico Actor Erik Alfonse Hausmanis (a.k.a. EMoney) is our latest pick of the litter from the ever expanding NM talent pool.

Hausmanis strikes a riveting Jean Claudeesque pose, only new and improved and contemporary. You may have caught a glimpse of Eriks in the recent NM big screen production Did You Hear About the Morgans?, he’s also worked on the upcoming films The Loop and Let Me In.

You can get the Kalamazoo, MI transplant for your NM film and television projects through his agent Vince Pulli, A & M Agency. Follow the budding NM star on Twitter here.
