Jones “blows them away” at Sundance with her NMFilm Sweetwater

The Chicago Tribune Reports:

“Sweetwater,” which was shot at the end of last summer, is the first feature film Jones worked on following the birth of her son. It also includes her first topless scene in a film. At one moment during her murderous rampage, she is quietly bathing in a river, her bare back seen from behind. As two villainous thugs approach, thinking they have her in a vulnerable position, Jones turns with both guns drawn. And she shoots them down too.

“I’d just stopped nursing and I think modesty just kind of flies out the window sometimes when you’re a mom, and I was like, whatever,” she said of deciding to do the scene. “Also, that scene in particular when I read the script was so … amusing to me, I couldn’t not do it. I’ve never seen a scene like that in a movie when you think a woman is just swimming in a river and you realize she’s using her sexuality to lure these men in and then turns around and blows them away. And that’s pretty awesome.

“There were certain times in my career where I felt, ‘I don’t really need to do that.’ But then, I’m a human being, I change my mind,” she added. “I might change my mind when there’s a theater full of people watching it, with my parents.”

Sweetwater gets rolling and beards still needed on the range

Posted by on June 7, 2012 | 4 comments

Dozens of locals brave their bristles awaiting a call for The Lone Ranger, while Ed Harris and January Jones ready for their close-up in New Mexico.

The call for extras with substantial beards has been out for months. As the NM weather heats-up many Lone Ranger hopefuls have thrown in the towel and picked-up the razor. Those who remain at their grizzly best still have hope as the Extras Casting director for the shoot recently sent out word that TLR will resume filming in mid July through the end of August.

Elizabeth Gabel, the E&G of EG Casting, has also announced today that they will be casting for the upcoming Albuquerque shoot of Sweetwater starring Ed Harris and January Jones.

If you’re beard ready for July or if you’re interested in submitting for 1800′s Western Drama, Sweetwater, register or update your talent profile with EG Casting here.

January Jones and Ed Harris set for Sweetwater, New Mexico

State Film Office Press Release 6/27/12:

Many started to speculate about a Mad Men hiatus when Don Draper, nay that really handsome guy, Jon Hamm was spotted sporting the Grizzly Adams look.

Now we know that his Mad co-star January Jones will be at work right here in New Mexico come July.

Last week Deadline confirmed that Jones will join Ed Harris in the 1800’s Western Drama, Sweetwater.

Harris has previous experience with the film’s directors, Logan and Noah Miller with whom he starred in their original film, Touching Home. The star is also no stranger to NM, with his recent turn as John McCain in HBO’s political drama, Game Change.

Sweetwater is the story of a widow (Jones) who enlists the help of the town sheriff (Harris) to take revenge on the sheep ranchers who have murdered her husband.

Multiple sources are reporting that production is scheduled to begin in New Mexico in July.

Hunger Games star Wes Bentley leads the “Things People Do” cast including Isaacs, Haley Bennett, and Vinessa Shaw.

ICYDK: All About #NMFilm Force of Execution

Force-of Execution-Bren Foster-Phillip- Goldfine copy

In addition to this beautiful specimen of arachnid (as expertly handled by professional scorpion wrangler Dusty Webb), we’ve recently discovered that SUPER cute Martial Arts star Bren Foster (above left) has been added to the Force of Execution cast. He is here in Albuquerque right now filming with Steven Seagal, Danny Trejo, Ving Rhames and many talented locals!

The film, currently shooting downtown – next headed to I-25 Studios, is a reunion on many levels. Foster and Seagal recently worked together on Maximum Conviction, which also paired Force director Keoni Waxman and producer Phillip B. Goldfine (above right).

There was a spike in web chatter when it was first reported that Seagal would be re-teaming with Machete co-star Danny Trejo (pictured below with local actor Joshua R. Aragon) for this project!

New Mexico Film production vet, Jenny Gabrielle (SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden, Sweetwater, The Banshee Chapter, Georgia O’Keffee, The Dry Land) also stars!

Hometown super star Steven Michael Quezada was slated to appear in the film, but his current Breaking Bad shooting schedule conflicted with filming dates.

Force of Execution is the story about a crime lord torn between his legacy and his desire to get out of the life of crime that has built his empire, when a new player to the scene tries to use the town anti-hero’s network to climb to power. The only friend the crime lord has is his assassin protégé who has troubles of his own. An epic battle of underbosses and crime lords. Only one will come out alive.

Seagal, Goldfine, Benjamin Sacks, Jim Burleson, and Binh Dang, Producers.

Star Turns – Good for New Mexico

Wahlberg in Albuquerque, NM last month for Lone Survivor

Study or no study, New Mexico banks on long running series like Breaking Bad, In Plain Sight, Crash and Longmire as the life’s blood of its film production jobs and statewide peripheral spending. Mega hits like The Avengers and the hotly anticipated, Lone Ranger film spike excitement and international recognition of the state.

Repeat appearances too, of stars like Ed Harris who’s heading back for a third run in NMFilm, boost awareness of the local industry. Following his turn as John McCain in the Emmy winning HBO movie “Game Change”, and work on the recently wrapped period western “Sweetwater” with January Jones, Harris is now making news with his latest NM project, “Frontera” – costarring the lovely Eva Longoria.

Superstar Mark Wahlberg is watched the world over, and as we told you here, is now a two-term NMFilm star. At OHI we hear nothing but praise from cast & crew who have worked with the actor/producer (The Fighter, The Perfect Storm/Boardwalk Empire, Entourage) and proud family man, who is genuinely interested and concerned about those around him. The star has been quick to praise the state’s film crews and locales – he’s one of the good guys who are lending the state some positive notoriety with his return to local sets for his back-to-back turn in the NM productions, “2Guns” and “Lone Survivor”.
