houseofcards to shoot santa fe OHI

Yes. Corroboration of some rumblings picked up by a little OHI sleuthing, in the form of some insider info, confirms that a “House of Cards” episode is set to shoot in the New Mexico state capital.

According to tipsters, the third season finale of the Netflix original series will film within just a matter of weeks. Set in Washington D.C., no word on how in the world a Santa Fe backdrop will or will not play into the political drama’s storyline; which has thus far filmed at the offices of The Baltimore Sun, Havre de Grace, Maryland and Aberdeen, Maryland, with exterior scenes of Washington D.C. filmed at the National Mall including road closures at Avenues Pennsylvania and Constitution.

#LONGMIRELIVES

UPDATE 11/19/14: CONFIRMED! As we told you FIRST, Variety now confirms that NETFLIX will indeed carry 10 episodes, comprising the fourth, full season of #LONGMIRE!!!!

Netflix Picks Up ‘Longmire’ for Season 4 – Variety

Latest word is that production will resume in New Mexico next spring!

Longmire-Second Season-cast-promo-NM

The #LongmirePosse has been anxiously waiting for the popular New Mexico made series to find a new network home. Weeks ago insiders were hinting to OHI that a Netflix production would be headed to NM for a full season shoot. And while a filming incentive dust-up in Maryland put the popular Netflix series, “House of Cards” in contention for a visit, the more-sensical, already New Mexico outfitted production shakes out to be the pending series shoot.

A cross check with additional OHI sources quietly screams that it is the beloved A&E ousted series which should be all but set to soon saddle-up in its old stomping grounds and resume filming in New Mexico for a long awaited season four!

ID2 is happening…NEW MEXICO STYLE

ID2 Fan Art OHI Fan Art

Well isn’t this a lovely turn of events? It seems that the last half of 2014 and moving on into a bright and shiny 2015, more tips and hints are turning out to come to fruition than not!

From Fey to Sandler to “Frank Underwood”, some of the hottest gossip that has landed in the OHI inbox is rapidly coming to life, on location and in the amazing studios available right here in New Mexico.

With television shows in high gear (Longmire, Manhattan, Better Call Saul, Night Shift), some big films aren’t far behind. On top of “The Taliban Shuffle” and “The Ridiculous Six”, as we’ve been following for you here the sequel to “Independence Day” is indeed headed to NM!

The 2016 sequel is expected to hit theaters…when else…over the July 4th holiday…twenty years later. ID2, two decades on the heels of its predecessor, WILL NOT star the original lead.

Returning producer Dean Devlin has said, “I’m not sure of the reasons why Will [Smith] ultimately decided not to do it. You’d have to ask him. I think he was just at a place where he did seriously consider it. We had a lot of meetings with him, but at the end of the day he decided that doing this wasn’t right for him.”

Also back for part deux is director Roland Emmerich. Likely character returns include Jeff Goldblum as environmentalist David Levinson and Randy Quaid’s refugee transporting, Russell Casse.

Let’s go New Mexico!
