After much ado about casting and re-casting, in round three of who will kick-up some dust and dig in his spurs opposite Oscar winner Natalie Portman in her New Mexico western “Jane Got a Gun”, her Star Wars co-star Ewan McGregor has come into focus!
Both are experienced in NM filming as Portman has been here for both “Thor” and “Brothers”, and McGregor starred in “Men Who Stare at Goats” back in and returned with Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender and Gina Carano for “Haywire”.
As everyone knows all too well nothing is confirmed until all hands are on deck, all stars are on their mark and the director yells, ACTION!
So here’s to a great shoot for all involved, how ever things fall out on this and every AWESOME production rolling right now here in New Mexico!
Above Joel McHale moderates a panel discussion with Director Steven Soderbergh actors Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender and Gina Carano at the Sunday screening.
The film originally titled “Knockout” was filmed in Dublin, Ireland and northern New Mexico in the Spring of 2010.
“Haywire” also stars Channing Tatum, Michael Angarano, Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas and Bill Paxton.
A dynamic action-thriller, HAYWIRE tells the story of Mallory Kane, a highly trained operative who works for a government security contractor in the dirtiest, most dangerous corners of the world. After successfully freeing a Chinese journalist held hostage, she is double crossed and left for dead by someone close to her in her own agency. Suddenly the target of skilled assassins who know her every move, Mallory must find the truth in order to stay alive. Using her black-ops military training, she devises an ingenious – and dangerous – trap. But when things go haywire, Mallory realizes she’ll be killed in the blink of an eye unless she finds a way to turn the tables on her ruthless adversary. – AFI
ICYDK: Exclusive pics direct from the New Mexico set here on the official Ten Year Facebook page.
Fresh off being violated tenderly “taken” by Ron Howard, Channing Tatum mingles at the end of a day’s shooting on Ten Year in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Ten Year is the latest Big Screen production currently shooting in NM. The made for TV movie Truth Be Told starring Candace Cameron Bure is also filming now – featuring the return of JAG to NM.
Next-up is THE AVENGERS, hopefully NOT to be followed by the funeral of all that has become good and holy in the world of New Mexico as the top spot in the country for film making – we all know it’s purdy here, but sunsets alone don’t keep the very mobile, very big business of movie makin’ generating gobs of jobs and joy in NM – KEEP NM FILM!
Catch Tatum this April in another NM Film, Haywire – formerly titled Knockout, with Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas, Ewan McGregor and Gina Carano.
Already some-time New Mexicans, the gorgeous Channing Tatum and his beautious wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum are headed back to our one-of-a-kind state of enchantment…
Channing, star of NM film Haywire (formerly known as Knockout), Jenna, NM movie vet Anna Faris and CHRIS PINE are NM bound with their upcoming movie Ten Year.
(canijusttellyouhowmuchilurvemesomeStarTrekin’chrispine!??!? andhisdaddyisnoneotherthanCHiPsSgt.josephgetraer – them are some good genes!!!)
The plot follows the couple (Tatum & Tatum) to his High School Reunion where the action ensues surrounding his intention to propose or not to propose…
Pics above are test shots for the film as published at “Channing Tatum Unwrapped” last month.
Produced by Marty Bowen, Reid Carolin, Wyck Godfrey, and Channing Tatum.
Written and directed by Jamie Linden (Dear John, We Are Marshall).
Filming is set to begin in January, scheduled for release in the Fall of 2011.
New Mexico is becoming quite a couples paradise or at least haven as big films and their super stars come to work in the Land of Enchantment their lovers come out to visit.
Some endings are happier than others, but we’re happy to play host and haven to celebrity folk amor!
When Channing Tatum was here in the Spring filming Haywire (formerly titled Knockout) with Steven Soderbergh his lovely wife (Megan Fox isn’t the ONLY game in town, this one and tinsel) Jenna Dewan took to the Indian Market and to Twitter giving an early review of the film(ing) saying:
“Watching Steven Soderbergh on set is beyond…a real genius of his craft. and nice and humble. love it.”
Haywire also stars Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas and Gina Carano, and is due out in early 2011.
The New Mexico shoot of Steven Soderbergh’s Knockout, starring Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas and mixed-martial arts beauty Gina Carano is heading to the old car, loose dog capital of NM which bodes well for the recent casting call for exactly that.
According to the New Mexico Film Office web site the production “is seeking beat up cars and dogs” for this week’s filming…surely that’s is to say, dogs and beat-up cars.
Cast & crew worked in the Santa Fe snow yesterday.

Okay, so we’re back. We have no big, breaking info-tainment haps for you other than the news that that VD movie took #1 at the weekend box office. But here’s your all important dose of NM Film Yesterday, Today y Mañana…
Yesterday – Filmfest feature film fave Coyote County Loser shot in Roswell, NM. Billed as a “romantic comedy for the loser in all of us”, the film is currently in limited release and features NM’s Own Nelson Martinez.

T’was just last week that Channing knocked Avatar out of the top spot with Dear John.

Mañana – Nicola Peltz (The Last Airbender) is slated to work w/ R. Patz in the upcoming indie The Unbound Captives. Start the novenas for homegirl’s safety now. There’s probably already an entire line of voodoo dolls in the little lady’s likeness à la crazed Twilightiacs.
