New Mexico’s favorite son, Neil Patrick Harris is a man who’s typically hard at work, so it’s no surprise to find him on a unique new film project. This time out the Albuquerque native is taking a turn in a comedy western right here in his homeland!
The “How I Met Your Mother” star recently tweeted an inspiring revelation about Santa Fe, where he’s currently filming with the all star cast of Seth MacFarlane’s “A Million Ways to Die in the West”.
Also saying:
This #NM flick is destined to become a comedy classic, scheduled for release on Memorial Day Weekend 2014!
The film also stars Amanda Seyfried, Charlize Theron, Giovanni Ribisi, Liam Neeson, Sarah Silverman, and Seth MacFarlane himself!

“…hard to believe that we are less than six weeks away from the theatrical debut of The Avengers.”
Today our friends at Dis Fan Review have assembled these amazing AVENGERS images, including the great shot above of director Joss Whedon working with Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) at NM productions hot spot, The Albuquerque Rail Yards.
While Whedon’s Avengers are barreling toward their eagerly awaiting legions of fans in true superhero fashion, more Whedon ties to New Mexico unfurl…
The Santa Fe New Mexican notes: Joss Whedon must love New Mexico! The writer-director of The Avengers, which was filmed in New Mexico, is working on Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog 2, the follow-up to the popular Web series starring Albuquerque native Neil Patrick Harris. Whedon says shooting should begin this summer and that the story has already been outlined.
And third on the wire re: a Whedon/NM connection, New Mexico-born Drew Goddard and longtime collaborator Joss Whedon present, The Cabin in the Woods (opening on April 13), combining “horror, comedy and a slew of sly allusions to movies ranging from the familiar to the for-serious-buff-only…”, so says the Film Journal.com.
With pre-production set to start in late February and shooting beginning in early March, NM nay the world (which is learning that NM is is indeed a part of the continental United States, largely thanks to the series) is bracing to say, “Adios” to its beloved Breaking Bad.
Though the Emmy winning series is not much for stunts, other than those supremely scripted twists and turns that leave hearts pounding and mouths agape season after season, there is a line of big name, rabid fans who pine to partake of a guest starring role.
New Mexico’s own Demi touts the series, Coco knows it’s the best show on television and now Jaleel (formerly known as Urkel) White wants in!
The Wrap reports:
“I would love to be on ‘Breaking Bad,’” says Jaleel White, best known for playing teen nerd Steve Urkel on nine seasons of the sitcom “Family Matters.” He repeats for emphasis: “I would love to be on “Breaking Bad.”
Silly? Well, you may have not even realized you were seeing White taking on a serious role here and there (see Dreamgirls, House, Psych, Boston Legal) since his Urkel days, and the man can act sans high-waisted denim, suspenders and horn rims, with a strikingly stern and handsome repose.
Yes he’s still funny. Seen below in the 2009 teaser trailer for the web series “Road to the Altar”. Too silly? Well as The Wrap mused, maybe as silly as the hap hazard, oft befuddled and bumbling dad from “Malcolm in the Middle” heading the gritty drama in three time Emmy winning style…
If anyone could seamlessly write the likes of everyone from a Jaleel White or Conan O’Brien to a Demi Moore or (my own personal suggestion) Neil Patrick Harris into the jewel of New Mexico productions crown, it would be the all star team of Breaking Bad writers.
Yes, I sacrificed my very own copy of Albuquerque the Mag’s BoC issue in order to put forth this OPEN CALL:
Dear NPH, meet SMQ. New Mexico’s favorite son and everybody’s #1 Homie share their home state and the admiration of all those here who are passionate about Entertainment!
Of course the famous pair have already rubbed elbows, but as an avid fan of both and a remote associate to one, I have to state the obvious: It’s time that NPH guests on The AAP with SMQ!
Me thinks it is Comedy Magic time at The After After Party where these two stars can collide in front of a hometown crowd!
Youth Development Incorporated fundraiser anyone? Magic class for the kiddies perhaps?
Look at these two, sure he’s no Kelly Ripa, but come on Neil Patrick – preciosos!
Check it >>> Your open invitation is hereby extended.

The AAP, New Mexico
New Mexico’s number one son is kicking butt, taking and naming names!
From his early years, in Hollywood, New Mexico (more commonly known as Ruidoso), to his shot to fame as Doogie Howser, M.D., Neil Patrick Harris’ star only continues to rise.
In a Sept. issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine, New Mexico’s Own lends his writing skills to sharing a HOLLYWOOD survival guide with the world!
NPH says, reveal your personal life, not your private life and as to how to act on a set, “Never be a d-bag to the crew”.
More gems including these excerpts from NPH in his own words to here:
LEARN THE OBOE, GO TO DRAMA CAMP, AND PRAY LIKE HELL FOR A LUCKY BREAK
I was very musical at a young age. So much so that Churchill Cooke, our elementary school band and choir director, let me teach parts in the choir when I was in the fourth grade. First I played the xylophone, then marimba, cymbals, French horn, bassoon — I became a sort of jack-of-all-trades. It’s a mindset that I think never really left me. Mr. Cooke would say, “We need an oboe part for this piece, Neil. Learn oboe.” And I would say, “Sure, Mr. Cooke. Who needs friends?”
BRACE FOR THE WAVE(S)
Mr. Steven Bochco is a very wise man. After a many-monthed nationwide search to find a precocious teenage doctor, he hired me. But I suppose he’s wise for other reasons, too: Right when Doogie Howser, M.D. was beginning, he took my parents and me to a restaurant, sat us down, and said, “A career is like surfing. You paddle out and paddle out and get wet and hit by these waves. When you finally get out where you’re supposed to go, you have to sit on a surfboard for a long time, just waiting. If you’re really lucky, you’ll catch a wave, and it’ll be the most amazing feeling. But the key is that that wave will inevitably crash to the sand. Then what you have to do is paddle back out and get hit by a bunch of waves again. But trust that in the long term there will always be waves to catch.” To a young family from New Mexico, you can imagine our reaction: “What the hell is surfing?” But thinking back, it was a very impressive thing to hear as a kid and, as it turns out, absolutely accurate.
BE A SLUT (PROFESSIONALLY SPEAKING)
It’s good to have a lot of once-in-a-lifetimes in your lifetime. If you get the chance to skydive, go skydiving. If you’re offered a part in a weird Shakespeare play in San Diego, slap on some tights and rock out some iambic pentameter. If you’re offered the opportunity to have a swastika painted on your ass, glitter on your nipples, and to simulate sex with a man and a woman behind a curtain, go for it… provided it’s Cabaret on Broadway and not in some dude’s basement.
Gracias Precioso
Über ¡Felicidades! (he probably speaks Spanish and German – the man can do it ALL) – New Mexico’s Own Neil Patrick Harris is the latest STAR on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame!
“As much of an honor as this is, unfortunately, it won’t be the first time I’ve been plastered on the sidewalk in front of the Frolic Room,” our boy quipped about the “saucy” location of his star.
Harris and fiancé David Burtka (thank you NY) beamed with pride at the ceremony in front of a crowed full of NPH fans! How I Met Your Mother co-star Jason Segel, and “Avengers” director Joss Whedon were also on hand for the celebration.
“Right now, my twins, Gideon and Harper, are too young to understand this honor. They spend most of their time peeing and vomiting on me. But let’s be honest, that’s probably what’s going to happen nightly to my star here outside the Frolic Room. someday, when they’re older, I’ll take them here, my heart bursting with pride, and say, ‘Kids, your old man was the 587th Hollywood star in the Television category.’ And God that sounds good!”
Harris also made sure to thank David, saying that he loves him more than anything in the world, “Except for this star”, and no doubt those beautiful babies of theirs!

Thanks to an anonymous ;) tip this Pretty New Mexican has recently been brought to our attention!
Striking what is rapidly becoming my favorite pose – NM’s Own Nick Wechsler is the male lead in ABC’s new drama series Revenge.
For his Harlequinesque factor alone this native New Mexican’s return to television is causing a buzz, and a blip on the “radar” of tvline.com where he’s been named a highly anticipated “Fresh Face of Fall”!
The Albuquerque born & raised, Highland H.S. graduate will begin heating-up the primetime lineup when Revenge premieres Wednesday September 21.
Another pretty New Mexican is coming-up quick in the 21st century version of Charlie’s Angels, premiering September 22 on ABC.
Iowa raised, Q born Annabeth Gish can be seen in 5 episodes of the ABC Family drama Pretty Little Liars which spawned the spin-off The Lying Game now filming…
Two more natives can be seen on a couple of little shows you may have heard of:
Neil Patrick Harris stars in his seventh season of How I Met Your Mother on CBS and again on ABC Albuquerque’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson returns in the #1 comedy on TV, Modern Family!
Footnote: ABC’s parent company is Disney – WE LOVE YOU MICKEY!
And here’s lookin’ at you Nicky!
It’s that time of year – Love, marriage and EQUALITY are in the air!
Before he walks the red carpet for the up-coming NM epic film Cowboys & Aliens, the gorgeous Daniel Craig walked down the aisle with his private bride Rachel Weisz in a secret ceremony in NYC last week.
Like his co-star Harrison Ford who took the plunge while here filming Cowboys ’round this time last year the screen icon keeps it quiet and keeps it classy with the down-low nuptials!
Homegrown class-act and global icon of all things goodness, New Mexico’s own Neil Patrick Harris took to twitter this weekend to confirm he and longtime love David Burtke have been engaged for some time now!!!!
With the passage of marriage equality in New York State the partners, parents and other likewise loving couples are free (as it should be!) to share in the commitment of marriage!
The only thing better than being a June Bride/Bridegroom is equal rights for all to bride/groom it up! Congrats to these happy couples and cheers to equality in coupling!
ABC Family has green lighted their original series The Lying Game, a spin-off of their hit show Pretty Little Liars. Both shows are based on novels by Sara Shepard.
As we told you here the pilot filmed right here in NM! You can thank Susana Martinez for the show up and taking production to Los Angeles – Thank you Susana!
The Lying Game is set to premiere Monday, August 15 on ABC Family.
Also just announced the Longmire television series has been picked by A&E for their upcoming season! Longmire is currently in production in northern NM.
Not fairing so well; CBS jinxed pilot starring Donald Faison, The Odds is never slated to see the light of day. Also not ‘coming soon’ is TNT’s Albuquerque production of The Rabbit Factory – that pilot had teamed DL Hughley with Steven Weber and employed many local cast & crew.
NBC says pass on another newsworthy NM shoot, that of Reconstruction (originally titled The Crossing) which marks strike two in recent TV season up-at-bats for for star Rachelle Lefevre who also led the cast of the highly touted, quickly puttered Off the Map.
Big hitters Breaking Bad and In Plain Sight are currently in production in the Q. The acclaimed A&E and USA network shows are in the midst of their fourth seasons respectively.
If there’s not enough NM on TV for you…because there never is, the revamped Charlie’s Angels series, starring New Mexico’s Own Minka Kelly is on the fall TV schedule where you can still find fellow New Mexicans Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Neil Patrick Harris in their own high falutin, hit TV series’.
The weekly staple on all things Albuquerque since 1992 is waiting to hear from YOU!
It’s time again to submit your ballot in the Weekly Alibi’s Best of Burque edition. Vote on everything from “Best Albuquerquean” to “The Worst Thing About Albuquerque” and almost everything in-between in over 50 categories.
There’s no best bloggette or fake reporter category for me to lose in, but we can all vote on those exalted in local TV and radio all year-round (see below and throughout my ramblings) and you can just make sh*t up in their “Best Anything We Forgot” category.
I can’t decide between Best native humanitarian, champion for equality, host with the mostest, sexy beast, world renowned actor and beloved regular returner of dogooding to his hometown aka Neil Patrick Harris, or best place to pick your nose at a traffic light unnoticed.
Whatever pleasures you most in the Burque and garners your “Best” label, get your vote on here now! Deadline is the stroke of midnight Tuesday March 22.
New Mexico’s Own NPH went a lil’ rouge MBH (Mama Bear Harris) today when he tweeted to his 1 Mill. plus followers the implication that American Novella Legend (Soap Actor) Eric Braeden is a lukewarm bag of vinegar & water solution for bailing on a guest appearance on Harris’ acclaimed and beloved television series How I Met Your Mother…
Well, as sometimes/often happens, the use of such a flushing solution caused a pH imbalance leading to a touch of spouters remorse on Harris’ side and a big ‘ol pompous bag of wind-bag on Braeden’s.
We say to each his own – Good for NPH for living the passion for his craft, cast & crew and no poo off his nose if Braeden prefers to remain steadfast in his 20+ year character, spewing his trademark statements, delivering his three rotating scowls for the five standard, regurgitated soap opera story lines…I keed, I keed – Victor Newman for life!
UPDATE 11/18/10: I knew papa would be too busy to bring his brand-new bag out for this – HELLO TWO new babies at home…but, he’s simply an INSPIRATION regardless and these pros have the training situation well under control – Look at ‘Drea go!
New dad, uber acting, directing, hosting super star, a.k.a. our very own NPH is heading home next week to participate in an Acting Workshop with the casting director of NM’s Emmy winning production Breaking Bad.
Wednesday’s workshop in Albuquerque is for Stage Acting Academy students only.
Welcome home again Papa!
Über-duper CONGRATULATIONS to NM’s Beloved Neil Patrick Harris and his partner David Burtka!!!
Little babies Gideon Scott and Harper Grace have arrived and are but 3 days old!
Welcome to the world little (part-time) New Mexicans!
xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo’s for life!
NM’s Own Neil Patrick Harris does it all! We could’ve seen this one coming…
Just a few months ago Harris won raves for his directorial debut of the stage production of RENT at the famed Hollywood Bowl.
The acclaimed and uber accomplished actor (host, performer, humanitarian, etc., etc.) will take his inaugural turn as a feature film director in the romantic/comedy Aaron and Sarah.
The film will star Josh Hutcherson and Emma Roberts – who also has ties to NM with Super Star aunt Julia being a resident and Dad Eric having starred in the NM TV production Crash.
Fly your Red and Yellow flags and cross your digits that the film may too be made in New Mexico
