In partnership with the students of UNM & CNM Film Program as well as uPUBLIC (Channel 27), a new local production is holding auditions for co-hosts for a family-friendly series showcasing local food & music shooting on location in various places of Albuquerque and surrounding areas.
We are in search of individuals who are real members of our community with dynamic, unique, and impressionable character. The right fit would commit to the long-term success of the show.
We are not necessarily looking for well-groomed actors, but rather people with real personality and a beautiful spirit who would love the opportunity to support local businesses and arts. However, actors are also welcome to audition.
The pilot is scheduled to shoot during early November. Potential for national to international exposure.

“The actual recording of the Diné dub of ‘Star Wars’ is taking place in New Mexico — right in the heart of the largest population of Navajo speakers,” -The Wrap
The Navajo Nation Museum has announced that the quest to preserve the Navajo language has achieved an intergalactic success!
Star Wars, one of the most iconic and most globally recognized films of all time will soon be translated, performed and again forever immortalized in the Native American language.
Museum director Manuelito Wheeler worked with Lucasfilms over the past three years to bring the project to fruition.
With funding from the Navajo Parks and Recreation Department, Deluxe Studio is in the process of working with linguists, young Navajos and a Navajo actress to translate each spoken word of the film into the Diné language. Acclaimed dubbing director Richard Epcar is on board with the production, which will be casting men and women fluent in Navajo to be voice actors.
Auditions for the roles of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Han Solo, C-3PO, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Grand Moff Tarkin will be held at the Navajo Nation Museum on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4.
Wheeler tells the Navajo Times that the tribe isn’t necessarily looking for people who sound like Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill or the others, but rather for performers who have the ability to speak the dialogue with the force and emotions of the original actors.
Qualified and hopeful voice talents should call 928-871-7941 to book your time slot. Walk-ins are also welcome!
Edit House Productions, LLC will hold auditions on Monday, April 1st (9am to 6pm by appointment) and Tuesday, April 2nd (Open Call from 2pm to 5pm), for actors for an upcoming video production. We’re looking for a male and female, both to appear about 50 to 60 years of age, as an upper-middle-class married couple.
Actors with prior experience in on-camera speaking roles will be considered, with a sample script provided at check-in. The video production is estimated to be completed in mid-May in Santa Fe, likely a full day production. Talent will each provide their own wardrobe, as well as transportation to Santa Fe. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, and be full buy-out agreements.
Actors associated with talent agencies are encouraged to email a recent headshot and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org by Noon on Friday, March 29. Appointments will be scheduled with those respondents, for Monday, April 1st, at the Edit House Productions offices, 918 Pinehurst Rd SE, Suite 102 in Rio Rancho. The location is the Northwest corner of Highway 528 & Southern Boulevard in Rio Rancho, between Walgreen’s and New Mexico Bank and Trust.
An open audition for those not affiliated with a talent agency will be held on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2-5pm, also at the Edit House Productions office.
Due to the nature of the project, applicants who are selected must have no felony arrests or pending criminal charges. Misdemeanors or speeding tickets are okay.
Buffalo in the Room is a comedy series project featuring Native Americans.
Two non-union open casting calls for several roles in Buffalo in the Room will be held, on April 5th and April 6th, 2013. Auditions are open to anyone interested in acting. Experience is not required. Actors outside of New Mexico who cannot make it to the auditions can email (below) to submit a video audition.
Buffalo in the Room is a series sitcom with an expected run of 15 episodes, that primarily features Native Americans and the often comedic expectations and stereotypes when dealing with the entertainment industry.
Shooting will begin in mid-late April in New Mexico. The pilot is being pitched to broadcast TV networks, and will initially commence as a web series.
Executive producer Brian Vallie created and co-wrote Buffalo in the Room along with Brian Young, a Yale graduate filmmaker and actor for a predominantly Native cast and crew. Vallie worked as a talent agent for New Mexico’s biggest talent agency while in college which
prompted writing Buffalo in the Room. Vallie wanted to see more Native productions with comedy, so he wrote a lighthearted comedy sitcom based on actual characters and events.
The series will be directed by Allistair McCray who has been involved in the film industry for many years. “I’m excited to be working with Native writers and cast. I believe there are undiscovered talent out there and we want to give them a chance. Buffalo in the Room is a production that can give them that chance, both cast and crew,” said director and producer, Allistair McCray.
Most roles require Native ethnicity, but there will also be several other roles requiring nonnatives.

According to a news release, these qualities are not a requirement.
Applicants are asked to bring a recent picture of themselves (which will not be returned) and photo identification. Applicants must be 21 years or older by March 1, 2013, and appear to be between the ages of 20 and 24.

Description: Family members find themselves in conflict over the younger generation’s success as a family band – the same kinds of conflict that broke up their parents’ famous rock band 20 years before. The most painful thing, though, is that some of the mothers and some of their daughters are in a serious dispute that may threaten their relationships. Can all of the conflict be resolved before not only the family band but the amilies themselves are destroyed?
Theme: Real love and compassionate communication overcome.
It’s a drama with a good portion of music and a little comedy to lighten the mood now and then.
The youth band sings and plays a variety of types of music. There are sub-groups that specialize in one particular type of music (pop, rock, blues, country, folk, musical theater). The parents’ band sang ‘80s rock in the style of The Bangles, Fleetwood Mac, The Go-Go’s, The Pretenders, Pat Benatar, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Debbie Gibson, etc. The youngest mom’s solo act also performs a variety of types of music. The grandparents’ band performed folk/country music.
Multi-award winning singer-songwriter-actress Sarah Lonsert has the lead younger generation role if it works out for her to take it. Sarah wrote and sang the theme song (“I Will Rise”) for Michael John Gabriel’s short film “High Casting” and played a small role in the movie. “I Will Rise” has gone on to win the Director’s Award in the Nashville International Song and Lyric Contest. She was recently on the ballot for 8 Grammy Awards. You can hear Sarah sing many of her songs on YouTube.com, ReverbNation.com, and MySpace.com. Here’s a song that demonstrates some of what Sarah can do with her voice as well as showing some of her acting ability. And here’s the one she wrote for my film.
Playing one of the 10-11 year olds will be the amazing young guitarist Zack Quintana. Here he is.
Playing the youngest brother in the older generation will be Jono Manson who is also the Music Producer for the film. See Jono’s bio here and listen to one of his songs here.
Playing the Family Counselor will be Michael John Gabriel.
Most other roles are still open. We are hoping to sign at least 2 well-known actors to the cast.
Most of this movie will be shot in Los Angeles. Some scenes will be shot in Santa Fe and one or two scenes will be shot in Las Vegas.
We’ll shoot it in summer, 2012, or as soon as we have the financing, whichever comes later.
SAG Ultra-Low Budget agreement, which allows us to mix SAG actors with non-SAG actors. Pending financing, the agreement may be upgraded.
Rate/pay: Depends on role and financing. We won’t start shooting until financing is in place. All speaking actors will be paid.
We are now auditioning for actors, who will be able to play the following characters in July, 2012: » Read the full post
