Storm brewing on New Mexico Weather front

Posted by on March 29, 2013 | 11 comments

Jason Stiff Fired

Local media personalities often feel like a part of our families or circle of friends, what with waking-up with them, or spending part of our evening with them, they share news and entertainment with us, we become accustomed to them, even look forward to seeing or hearing from them.

When we read their interesting and/or informative social media posts we can all imagine the sound of their professional voice, maybe even picture their friendly face…well now that’s all you can do if and when you’re looking for your weather updates from arguably the state’s favorite weatherman, because KOB-TV has gone and unceremoniously FIRED meteorologist Jason Stiff.

After more than three years of upstanding work, amassing a substantial fan base all over the state, the veteran WX man is out of a job and likely out of the lives of New Mexicans entirely. Due to a 12 month non-compete clause in the broadcaster’s contract, if Stiff wants to work in his chosen profession he’ll have to leave the market, i.e, New Mexico for an entire year. Outrageous.

Yes, it happens. We’ve seen television and radio shake-ups before, disgruntled with other drop kicks to our media landscape and oftentimes it’s a damn shame. True, these career setbacks don’t take away from the talent of those who garner our admiration and respect, and their stars do and will go on to shine. But if you, like we are mad as hell and want to let your voice be heard, please exercise your right to free speech and contact KOB-TV general manager Mike Burgess at mburgess@kob.com or call the station at 505-243-4411.

Goodbye Meow the Cat

Posted by on May 7, 2012 | Comments Off
HealthMediaNM's OwnRIP

Pobre Meow. Last month El Gato Gordito made his way onto the world’s stage (well national television), and even on to the lap of America’s greatest talk show host, Anderson Cooper.

Now the famous tabby from Santa Fe, New Mexico is no more. After the whirl-wind press tour in which Meow’s plight to beat the bulge was made public, Meow was back home in NM, where he had been turned in to the Santa Fe Humane Society by his elderly owner whom could no longer care for him.

The Humane Society immediately set about with a regimen designed to save Meow’s life by aiming to cut down his morbidly obese weight, of 39 lbs. by at least 10.

Unfortunately, Meow lost his fight against the weight over the weekend. Santa Fe Animal Shelter executive director Mary Martin released the following announcement via facebook this morning:

Dear Friends,

I am devastated to share with you that the respiratory distress that Meow was experiencing last week (the reason we did not do his weigh-in) took his life at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5. The Shelter staff – along with all those who met Meow during his short time with us – mourn his passing. As many of you are aware, Meow began wheezing last Thursday in his foster home, Dr. Jen began trying to sort out the problem, at first considering the possibility of asthma associated with his weight. She started treatment immediately to ease his breathing and, when Meow didn’t improve, she sought additional help for him from our emergency specialty hospital and an additional private veterinary hospital. Although four different veterinarians worked with Meow, we were unable to stop the progression of what turned out to be pulmonary failure. Meow had been doing so well in his foster home; walking up stairs and seeking affection – that it is so very hard to believe he is gone. We will forever be grateful for the attention Meow’s size brought to pet obesity and to animal shelters across the country. We are especially grateful to all of you who fell in love with this charming cat – as we did – and were so very interested in his progress and success.
With gratitude,
Mary Martin

Sweet, furry reminder of the toll weight takes on the body. And with all due respect proof that even the healing hands of Anderson Cooper cannot save a losing battle.

Adios Meow. Rest in peace and may your story save many lives, feline and otherwise.

Separation of Church and Media

For entangling religion with pop-culture…it’s Hasselbeck for the win:

On today’s “very special” episode of the View, everyone’s favorite skwaktresses read from this story about Rihanna’s invitation to get the h-e-double-hockey-sticks OFF THE FARM by an Irishman who didn’t take too kindly to her areolic display.

The queen of tangent and hypocrisy chimed-in as only she can saying that “Jesus didn’t turn people like this away. Jesus welcomed the prostitutes.”

RECORD SCRATCH, say-what?!?

How in the name of artistry vs. the farm does someone go from the topic of exercising property rights to calling a “top” selling songstress a ho AND dragging the name of Jesus into it in one fell swoop!??!

Hasselcrack! That’s how! This woman is THE master of her domain, which is an especially rich and vibrant history of fitting foot in mouth, post giant step in dooky, that she works so quickly you don’t even see, let alone comprehend what’s happened until it’s already over.

Inspired by Hasselbeck’s ~Deep Thoughts on this (and all matters), here is my choice for picture of the day:

“Science flies you to the moon. Religion flies you into buildings.”

This Happened: Your New FoFo Edition

And now the talent contest that started back in February has come up FOXY!

YOUR new Face of Fox is…

If you haven’t already ladies…commence drooling…be warned though…he is a married FoFo. Hell so are most of us right girls!

Just like we don’t have to weigh 12 lbs. to appreciate a Victoria Beckham dress design, so too can we appreciate the pretty boy 2 KASA Fox has crowned champ and representative!

NYC’s Consuelos Family is NM bound!

On this morning’s episode of LIVE with Regis & Kelly, Mark Consuelos was pinch hitting for Regis Philbin alongside his real life, real skinny wife Kelly Ripa where the pair announced their impending trip to Nuevo México with all their chitlins in tow.

Mark made the call this year to bring the annual family Way Out West trek to our fair state in T-minus 5 days, when we’ll be tasked along with him to make it great for Pipa & Co.

While Ripa may be a tough customer for our dept. of tourism to impress Consuelos extolled his passion for the Land of Enchantment which undoubtedly took hold when he was here filming ’08′s Husband for Hire.

Roll out the welcome mats and face masks! Bienvenido Consueli!

From Japan to The View frivolous Heiress BS is being called out.

You may recall as I do with GLEE when last year Japan D-Listed the heinousness that is Parasite Hilton like the skanky, good-for-nothing scab on society that she is!

Cut to last week when ever so effortlessly sharp-tongued television journalist Barbara Walters and epic entertainer turned T.V. host Whoopi Goldberg grilled the empty headed idol to idiots everywhere like no one has had the huevos to do to the likewise criminally worthless such as Lindsay Lohan etc., etc.

It’s being widely reported that thanks to this crack journalism, the cokey smuttyness Hilton was set to bring forth in upcoming interviews and public appearances to promote her nonsense of a new “show” is canceled! YAY!

Visit here, here and here to see what some real community leaders are doing! And WE can all visit Serve.gov to find out what we can do to counteract the nonsense of this Www.

Royal Announcement NM Style

Posted by on April 28, 2011 | Comments Off
AnnouncementMediaNMTV

Errybody knows I follow & adore our local royalty a.k.a. all our beloved Telly and Radio personalities…but seriously what’s not to love about New Mexico celebs, which are all of us!

Now on to the news of the day regarding one of everybody’s favorite nightly news anchors:

Sure she’s always had an admirable bosom, sure the televised coverage of her wedding rivaled the princess making of mañana but some things are meant to be kept private! Until now…

I don’t know what prompted others in the community to pester Mrs. Ribando-Patrick on the status of her intra-uterual occupancy but according to the sweet promos currently running and running and running on KOAT 7, Shelly will be answering all your queries, what ever they may have entailed…and she will be ‘delivering’ an announcement about what she describes as herself looking “a little different” and reveal what she’s be trying to “hide a bit”. Tune in to the 10 o’clock news tonight for the big reveal you’ve been waiting for.

Whether you might have thought that that aforementioned bosom has become even more enviable or figured that in the traditional scheme of things that the time was rolling around for the relatively new-lyweds to procreate, you’ve apparently voiced some curiosities…I drew my own conclusion a few months ago just by hearing her voice…she delivered one line and I heard the raw nasal membranes that result from raging hormones…pobricita.

Well, from OHI we’d like to say that you look spectacular Shelly and we congratulate you on one of the most harrowing experiences one can embark upon! Buckle-up Mr. & Mrs. it’s sure to be an outrageous, amazing, wonderful, trying & beautiful ride – best wishes for a safe & healthy one!

You will likely be gifted or at least recommended the standard in gestational reading fare…I will cyber gift you this as a companion to that:
