I first met Mary when I was in 8th grade, she was 12 and in 7th grade at the same Jr. High School. She was in the choir and I was in the band. We had many friends in common and we would hang out at her house which was just down the street from the school.
We went to different high schools though so we didn’t see each other as much but we did manage to have an on and off again relationship.
I remember the exact moment I fell in love with Mary. The picture of that moment is forever burned into my brain. I see that picture in my head constantly!
My band was playing a show at the old Beach Boys house in our hometown of Whittier, Ca. I had just pulled up and was getting ready to unload my drums when all of a sudden this gorgeous 6 ft blonde comes walking out of the house. It was Mary!
I hadn’t seen her in a while but in that time she had grown into this beautiful woman. I knew at that very second that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.
I so cherish that moment and am so thankful that my brain took a snapshot of it and constantly shows it to me. It was and still is the best moment of my life! – Don Ivie
