The State of Our Nation/The State of Our Children
Do four children die at the hands of abuse or neglect in the United States every day? Those were the findings in a 2006 report issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
2010 UPDATE: “The number and rate of fatalities have been increasing during the past 5 years.” – U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, Child Welfare Division
Reporting Abuse
If the friends, neighbors, family, or other associations know, see or suspect mental illness, rage, hostility, indifference, resentment – a child may be in danger, susceptible to abuse, neglect, exploitation or murder.
Children are completely helpless and most often suffer abuse and death at the hands of the very people in charge of their welfare. As a culture we must put a spotlight on these harsh realities and make it known to perpetrators of abuse, our government and to the children whose very lives may depend on our involvement.
