As the kids say nowadays, “Haters gonna hate”

Posted by on August 18, 2012 | Comments Off on As the kids say nowadays, “Haters gonna hate”

FYI: Film is a New Mexico industry, chile production is a New Mexico industry, hell it’s practically a regional dietary requirement. Both of these homegrown topics and more are currently receiving a tidal wave of national attention, thanks to what amounted to a 7 minute conversation aired on the radio and broadcast on the web out of NM.

It all started earlier this week with a local morning radio show announcement and subsequent broadcast that was met by cheers and some resounding jeers from a few of their listeners, local and national media alike.

The name of the show is Morning Mayhem, not CNN or Fox News, yet a multitude of responses to the show’s major get, in the way of a quick telephone interview with the leader of the free world, are highly critical of the tone and content of the broadcast.

Kiki gives us local traffic and pop news on our way to or at work. Carlos D and Danny V steer those morning airwaves with humor, pop music and relatable banter. All while being cute and a little crazy to entertain their fellow New Mexicans in their daily grind.

You wanted hard hitting questions? Well, they hit home the fact that they are in touch with their audience and that the President of the United States can hold his own while talking to the 99%. The 99% of us who eat chile, who raise kids, who still tune in to local radio for a little entertainment and sometimes some advice from the top of our government that says, hey don’t forget to register to vote. Tell your kids to be persistent, and yeah I’m human too.

Shame on you for throwing shade at persecuting fellow broadcasters (I’m looking at you Joe Vigil) for reaching their audience on a base level that didn’t include the rhetoric of the already overly abundant negative campaign ads or the bias of a party slanted “news” program.

Lastly, if you’d prefer to hear a “news” report on a candidate who likely wouldn’t know what New Mexico chile is without first asking a high paid advisor how to answer, or one who already has the “super power” of evading taxes to amass staggering personal wealth, change the station, it’s a free country.

ABQ Radio: Good Times & Temporary Goodbyes

Posted by on September 19, 2011 | Comments Off on ABQ Radio: Good Times & Temporary Goodbyes

As we’ve been pained to report to you in the past, the radio game is just the same as any other – full of high times, hard times and goodbyes.

The seasons of change hit our favorite crews with moves and moving-ons on the regular. We’re always happiest to publish where our faves move-up and on, always at the ready to enlighten and entertain us.

You’ve followed along with us and rally around the old and the new, you write to us often asking what ever happened to…and when will so-and-so be back and where? (Carmelina, girl they look for you everyday)

Well, we’ll keep-up with as many of your beloved radio personalities and other local celebrities, because in case you couldn’t tell…we love them too.

Here’s a sweet sentiment from our friend “Rico” Chico Suave who’s recently left his gig on 93.3 KOB FM.

“It will never be forgotten where I started, there are so many people who gave me that chance. Out of nowhere I showed who I was and it helped me reach higher ground. There are no words to describe how grateful I am to have been a part of something that I’ve dreamed about every day in my youth. The show goes on and I will not let myself give up on what my heart has fallen in love with. There is no hate or negative feelings for the way things are blooming, instead I am thankful to God for giving me strength and understanding that this is not the end. I will repay those who lifted me with great respect and show them that they helped make a great man. Fight the good fight, live the good life. I’m not going to say goodbye instead I say to you amigos, adios for now!” – Chico

The goodness and strength of everyday citizens in communities all around New Mexico reign down upon us…let us beg the skies above to do the ~same while donating to imminent fire fight and disaster relief efforts!

Any good New Mexican in-the-know is hoping, helping and praying for relief from the dangers of the fires sweeping the state!

Here’s one creative and productive way some ABQ metro KOBers are presenting as a way to give to and to aid the state we all love:

So everyone must get their car washed tomorrow!

K, y’all know I love me some radio peeps! And guess what…some of ’em love YOU!

Our faves make us smile, they make us laugh and sometimes cry. We can dial ’em up, day in & day out – we rely on them to entertain us and they often work very hard to enrich our community.

They’re OUR local celebs and friends – like my other loves, select “newsies“, many are members of our Facebook families, Twitterverse and daily entertainment routines – and that is why we LOVE ‘EM!

Here’s another lovely opp. for YOU to get your move & shake on ON THE RADIO! Megawatt voice Bad Boi Carlso Dii of 93.3 KOB WANTS YOU!

“[I want] to get some New Mexico movers and shakers on the air with me here in the next few weeks! If you’re interested hit up the inbox and i’ll get back to as soon as I put a schedule together. Please share with people you think are really doing BIG things in New Mexico!” – Carlos Dii

If you or someone you know are doing BIG THINGS get on with Carlos Dii and maybe catch a glimpse of the GORGEOUS Princess Janae, and Rico Chico Suave too!!!

Email CARLOS@KOBFM.COM and tell ’em what you’re up to and why you should be on the RADIO!
