As we told you here, here and here, the “scary” lil’ lady known’ish to the world as Chloe Moretz is A FORCE to be reckoned with!
The next force she’ll be reckon’ with is one of the most the time honored horror stories of MY GENERATION…the star featured in New Mexico productions, “The Eye” and “Let Me In” has been cast as the next CARRIE!!!!
THIS ROCKS! Some remakes work and actually hold their own as did the NM production of “Fright Night”, and now with this amazing young starlet in the lead me thinks the CARRIE reboot has a fighting chance (BUT PLEASE DEAR GOD(S) LET THERE BE MORE ORIGINAL SCRIPTED FILM AND TELEVISION IN OUR FUTURE).
Anyhoo, WE LOVES us some CHLOE as much as our own home-grown NM talent, and that rabidly overlooked nut-butter boy, WHO SHOULD’VE been the next Spiderman), but I digress…and anxiously await the redux of this childhood horror starring a fright queen anew, who’s no stranger to NM.
p.s. young Chlo was set to head back to NM for her third stint, except, but, if, and until some changes including recasting the co-star from sexy snaggle-tooth Dunst to amazballs sexy, not-so lively Blake Lively and a production location switch of the indie flick Hick, in theaters May 11.
Mr. Megan Fox and foxy Mena Suvari star in the upcoming sci-fi, horror Last Stop, filmed in Ruidoso NM. The film is scheduled to be released later this year – no word on if it will be cinematical or DVD direct.
Already minted to DVD and Blueray is the incredible Hammer Films NM Horror/Thriller Let Me In. This chilly horror stars NM’s Own (adopted) scary little lady Chloe Moretz – who I maintain is a FORCE to be reckoned with – I’m talking to you ACADEMY.
Moretz is scheduled to be back for her third NM film, Hick at the end of the month!
As of today she’s in a dead (pun) heat with Oscar contender Hailee Steinfeld in our own Golden Tumbleweed race for NM’s favorite leading lady of the past year…
As we told you here NM’s Own (adopted) teen horror queen, Chloe Moretz is New Mexico re-visiting.
Come February Moretz will star in Hick, the gritty, dramatic story of a troubled teen girl who embarks on a cross-country hitchhike – we thinks Jodi Foster in Taxi Driver meets Reese Witherspoon in Freeway – that’s the caliber we deem Moretz…
The film is based on the acclaimed Andrea Portes novel of the same name. Portes adapted her work for the screen, indie fave Derrick Martini (Lymelife) will direct, Los Angeles casting by Edye Belasco…local casting deets to follow.
It was recently announced that Kirsten Dunst will also star.
UPDATE 10/03/10: NM in the top TEN. As of this afternoon NM’s Own, Wholly NM film Let Me In comes in at #8 for the weekend Box Office take! Raking in ~$5,300,000 opening on just over 2,000 screens! Woot!
The headlining pasty white vamps, creepish villains and blood-let victims of our long chronicled Wholly New Mexico film Let Me In may not be ready to hit the red and yellow carpet, but a premiere party will go on for the local extras, cast & crew in Los Alamos today:
“The Overture film, “Let Me In” premiers at the Reel Deal Theater on Friday with two showings; one at 6:50 p.m. and the other at 9:15 p.m.
Los Alamos County will co-sponsor a “red carpet” premiere with the Reel Deal for “Let Me In,” which will features prizes and special giveaways.
The movie was filmed in Los Alamos nearly a year ago and features several local community members, including teens from the middle and high schools. Staff from the county’s film office will serve free cake and punch in the lobby before each showing and have giveaways from the movie distribution company, such as copies of the book that was the basis of the film “Let the Right One In,” plus free movie posters.
Not only was “Let Me In” filmed in Los Alamos, but the actual town in the movie is Los Alamos. Many local residents were hired as extras and some of the kids in the film are wearing their ‘Topper High School letter
jackets with LA emblazoned on them.
The film has received rave reviews on all fronts and the Internet movie site, Rotten Tomatoes, scored it the highest at 100 percent. Some of the locations included in the filming were the high school, Barranca Mesa, the culvert at the roundabout, Ashley Pond and the ice rink
Expect long lines and sold out shows so buy your tickets early and arrive at the theater well in advance of your show time.”
Chloe Moretz (Kick Ass, 500 Days of Summer) who already has two NM films under her belt (Let Me In, The Eye) will return later this year in the Taylor Lane Productions film, Hick – based on the novel and adapted screenplay by Andrea Portes.
The pre-embryonic dish on the dark drama, to be directed by Derick Martini, is that this will be the edgiest role yet for this young but seasoned actress, maybe shades of Jodi Foster à la Taxi Driver? As they say on the evening news…You heard it here first!
“The film is looking for ice skaters (adults and teens), police officers, and paramedics to appear in non-speaking roles for filming mid-January in Red River (skating outdoors on a lake).”
If your parental challenges are your real-life horror git’ your youngins out to the Albuquerque International Balloon Museum from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. where ABC’s Supernanny is also holding a NM casting call…you can also email your family specs & particular issues to local casting agent Aaron Giombolini at Casting505@gmail.com.
