New Vacation Movie Cast to film in New Mexico

Joining the original matriarch and patriarch of National Lampoon’s first family of Vacations, the latest versions of the oft’ re-cast Griswold children have been revealed.

As recently discussed on-air, Audrey and Rusty have gone and grown-up. The role of Rusty, previously made famous by Anthony Michael Hall, Jason Lively and Johnny Galecki will be reprised by none other than comedy superstar, Ed Helms. In the Vacation reboot, now in production, Rusty has married up nicely, landing Christina Applegate.

Just announced this week, Audrey Griswold’s Juliette Lewis/Dana Hill/Dana Barron adult shoes will be filled by comedic gem, Leslie Mann. Like Rusty, it seems Audrey has espoused quite the hottie in landing “Thor” himself, aka Chris Hemsworth!

The only official word on filming is out of Atlanta, Georgia here, but OneHeadlightInk.com has it on good authority that filming will be shared with New Mexico. Leads that the production is headed this way are bolstered by this casting call out of the New Mexico film office, touting a WARNER BROS. FEATURE FILM CASTING FOR PAID EXTRAS. Check out the entire post here.

It is for certain that the present day Griswold’s, rumored to be led by Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo, will hit the big screen once again come 2015, produced by New Line Cinema, a unit of Warner Brothers Entertainment…

Jesse Pinkman and Brother of Thor Contenders for Son of John McLane

UPDATE: This guy got it.

A Good Day to Die Hard, the upcoming forth film in the Die Hard series will take John McLane to frigid Russia on, an of course, suspense filled quest to free his son from the throws of…you’ll see.

BUT FIRST we’ll all get to see who lands the coveted, and possibly further franchised role of the Son of John McLane.

The two front runners have New Mexico ties as one is the brother of “Thor”, aka Liam Hemsworth, aka Mr. Hannah Montana, who spent some time here back in the Spring of 2010 enjoying a little R&R with big brother & Thunder God, Chris.

Even more closely tied to our hearts is part-time NM res. AARON PAUL, who bares a striking familial resemblance to Bruce Willis (hint, hint).

A handful of other actors are also reported to be under consideration for the role in the film, scheduled to start production as early as January 2012, which may cause conflict in the selection of our beloved Paul, as the fifth season of Breaking Bad should be getting underway around the same time {sads}, but we all know how a film schedule can slide around…

Let us be hopeful that the casting of this plum role isn’t botched like with the slackers who let that precious Logan Lerman slip through their fingers as the PERFECT, next best SPIDERMAN.

Good luck to all the contenders, and may the winner do well with the role and not stink-it-up! I haven’t personally seen any of the younger Hemsworth’s work nor have I been able to wrap my arm around him – with that and all the bias in the world I hope we’ll be seeing Paul land this!

The Avengers Take Manhattan

Posted by on September 6, 2011 | Comments Off

Because NM doesn’t play host to pappers or stalkerazzi (like those fiends pictured in thumb 4) nor well publicize when & where we have gaggles of worldwide superstars (good deal?) big cities (even Cleavland) still have us beat for all the great set pics.

Here from NYC, courtesy of my brother from another mother, are a boatload of Labor Day weekend pics of the WHOLE AVENGERS cast all suited-up.

Though just a babe himself, remember my beloved uses A LOT of salty language not suitable for young readers…ENJOY the pics and save your dlisted reading enjoyment to times away from preschool eyes, like at WORK.

Here are a few thumbnails from Michael K‘s gallery with which you can whet your eyes anytime…

Where Are They Now?

Since wrapping things up here in The Land of ‘secluded’ Enchantment back in late July The Avengers have taken-up in Cleavland as scheduled.

This is set video from earlier in the week of some downtown demolition as orchestrated for the sure to be action-packed flick.

And from the online imps who post pirated theater footage here is the film’s extended teaser trailer as it rolled at the conclusion of Captain America: The First Avenger last month.

The New Mexico/Ohio production will open wide next spring!

Captain America Dicks on Albuquerque

Posted by on June 8, 2011 | 5 comments

Maybe like that very cute, but hyper pubescent boy from my 9th grade summer school remedial math class, Chris Evans thinks it’s adorbs bordering on irresistible to throw an almost nonsensical put down on every other thing…Or maybe like a Dixie Chick in London he wants to declare a full on public denouncement.

While on a quick jaunt to la la land from his host city of Albuquerque, New Mexico where he’s being paid millions of dollars to play grown-up Marvel comics with A-list cast & crew Chris played cut-up with MTV news spouting off about the drabs of the shooting locale.

Me thinks it’s the former that made this lucky actor sound off like this, esp. seeing as his screen idols and fellow Marvel heroes who’ve worked and played in the Land of Enchantment before haven’t been known to quip and complain about the state.

I-Ron man hikes, Nick Fury does it all and Thor doesn’t have to do a damn thang since he’s just prettier than purdy – maybe Cappy just isn’t invited to play with the big boys and he’s lashing out.

When in doubt Cappy, just ask yourself WWBCD (What Would Bryan Cranston Do) – otherwise just sit at the whiners table with Alba, Faison & what’s-her-name.

To quote an even lesser man, “Silly kids, let the adults do the talking for the state.”

Pretty in Fe – Have Love will Travel

Posted by on July 21, 2010 | 2 comments

New Mexico is becoming quite a couples paradise or at least haven as big films and their super stars come to work in the Land of Enchantment their lovers come out to visit.

Some endings are happier than others, but we’re happy to play host and haven to celebrity folk amor!

When Channing Tatum was here in the Spring filming Haywire (formerly titled Knockout) with Steven Soderbergh his lovely wife (Megan Fox isn’t the ONLY game in town, this one and tinsel) Jenna Dewan took to the Indian Market and to Twitter giving an early review of the film(ing) saying:

“Watching Steven Soderbergh on set is beyond…a real genius of his craft. and nice and humble. love it.”

Haywire also stars Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas and Gina Carano, and is due out in early 2011.

Thorish

Los Angeles Times

From the other worldly desert hammer to the Hall of Asgard (above) the mighty Thor is edging toward completion and glimpses of this Kenneth Branagh inception continue to be put forward.

Filmed between California (Del Mar, L.A., Raleigh Manhattan Beach Studios) and New Mexico (Santa Fe and Galisteo), we’ve so far seen the Chris Hemsworth embodiment of the Thunder God, the Destroyer in the desert, and have been tagged in the Global coverage (flattering and not) of this Marvel.

Don’t forget the Thor-fest rolls into Comic Con with many other NM productions!

Branagh & co.’s Thor hits theaters May 2011 in 3D!!

Via Sci Fi Wire

This is the first official movie still released where we get to see the contemporary, bicep-bulging, Chris Hemsworth going classic comic book hero as Kenneth Branagh’s THOR.

Another sweet peek into the latest of what will likely be a mega, blockbuster comic book franchise from Marvel, as previously glimpsed in the leaked bunny dropping we first showed you here of the New Mexico production.

“The epic adventure “Thor” spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.” – Marvel.com

Thor is scheduled to crash into theaters on May 6 2011.

Ready the Giants and the Scorned for Thor, NM

Posted by on October 14, 2009 | One comment

Marvel Comics Thor

SpoilerTV has widely released the supposed casting call for none other than Marcy Lewis, the plum role of a jaded, 20 something languishing under the tutelage of scientist Kate Spelling in New Mexico.

It has yet to be confirmed if and when the Thor flick as directed by Kenneth Branagh will conversely flourish under these desert skies.

Besides the star roles that have been confirmed and the speculated Marcy role, the production is too said to be seeking “giants and warriors“.

More deets to follow.
