It has been announced this week that since premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in Sept., Anchorbay Entertainment has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the Channing Tatum/Rosario Dawson, New Mexico film, Ten Year.
Produced by Tatum, Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, and Reid Carolin the high-school reunion comedy is the directorial debut for Jamie Linden who also wrote the script.
Ten Year was shot right here in the Albuquerque metro-area last winter and also stars Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Lynn Collins, Brian Geraghty, Ari Graynor, Oscar Issac, Ron Livingston, Justin Long, Anthony Mackie, Kate Mara, Max Minghella, Aubrey Plaza, Scott Porter, Chris Pratt and and many of New Mexico’s own!
Anchorbay is projecting a Spring 2012 domestic release for the film! Yay!
UPDATE 06/11/11: If you haven’t done so yet get listed here for New Mexico casting of this production – heading to NM in late June!
Just released – First image of Cameron Diaz and Colin Firth in Gambit via Metro UK
Michael Hoffman, the man who brought the world Soapdish is directing a new comedy based on the 1966 film Gambit. This update stars Oscar winner Colin Firth and proud Latina Cameron Diaz.
Penning the reboot are none other than habitual New Mexico film makers, Oscar winning writers/directors, brothers Joel and Ehthan Coen. Some of our favorite local actors are already working on booking roles in the remake. (break legs big fella plus! {wink})
The stars are stepping into leads originally filled by some big shoes, one by fellow Brit and legend Michael Caine and the other by fellow legend and New Mexico Res. Shirley MacLaine!
The film is currently in production in London and will be heading to New Mexico forthwith…cherrio!
UPDATE 7/10/11: SUPER ~secret set construction begins! Official‘ish announcements are beginning to come out…Hi-Yo Silver! NM silver screen that is! Woot!
For Angelie
Those among you who care to know if the pipeline of sessy leading men will continue to flow into New Mexico – we are here for YOU!
We’ve patiently waited for stalled projects like Unbound Captives to unleash the likes of Robert Pattinson on our fair state and the pending Protection of Dwayne “The Rock Again” Johnson.
The desert heat rises when scary Colin Farrell frights, Tatum charms again and again, or mucho mas gorgeous Cena shows us some lurve.
Not to be outdone, our beloved part-time New Mexicans set-up house and help out the community while their NM based productions shoot, and oodles of feature film & indie goodness roll in & out like our cool evening breezes (sigh)…
We’ve long awaited the arrival of Johnny Depp – and he may never leave if a certain Santa Fean beauty has a moment to work her charms on ‘em.
Shantaram has been forever slated to shoot aqui con Depp but alas that film appears to be in the permanent hold queue avec Unbound…
HOWEVER hot on the Disneywire today is news that Depp’s escándalo Tonto in Disney’s upcoming Lone Ranger flick has sights set on NM!
If asked, this bloggette could attest to the facts that this is a very real possibility – as we all know Disney ain’t no stranger to the Land of Enchantment, whether under their flagship moniker or with one of their acquired brands; Marvel, ABC or Sony Imageworks – we’ve long had us mouse in the house!
Here’s some of what we talked about Friday Night in-house with Big Benny on 97.7 omg! Radio:
Stage, Small Screen, Big Screen ETA’s…and more!
Hit the stage, get the lil’ ones on the road to their performing arts career by getting your Glee on in Albuquerque musical theater (not unlike, NM’s Own NPH)!

Small screen: YOU may have a shot to run your very own morning t.v. show. Our local Fox affiliate, KASA Fox 2 will be airing a daily a.m. style and talk show click here for more info.
As we’ve been reporting here, here, here and here, the Twilightiacs of the world will soon turn their daylight shy eyes on the Land of Enchantment where R. Pattz will be going from Elephants to Caballos in the upcoming indie Unbound Captives as written and directed by the incredible Madeline Stowe.
Pattinson will star alongside that piece of gorgeousness Hugh Jackman and the superb Rachel Weisz. The Pattz is said to have to learn and primarily speak Comanche for the film. It has yet to be confirmed or denied (officially) whether or not the film will shoot here, but few and far between of those reported go elsewhere…(but some do {sads})
I fully expect the Twilightiac express to land here and I know N. Mex will play a fine and respectful host to all the cast & crew (Lord protect us from the madness).
I also expect that The Pattz will do a great job with the material and I officially add him to the list of my “great expectations” wherein the Nut Butter Boy begs to play the ultimate young Spiderman and our very own Scary Little Lady will take the stage at the Oscars one day…I expect Pattinson to shine out from his cloak of vampire darkness and meet similar professional heights as the late great Heath Ledger…as they say on the evening news…
