NM Film Yesterday, Today y Mañana

Yesterday – but for a moment did we have the incomparable Laurie Metcalf in our midst whilst she starred in the short lived CW series Easy Money in the 08-09 t.v. season.

Today – Saint John of Las Vegas starring Steve Buscemi and Sarah Silverman opens in limited release.

Mañana – The UK based horror kings of Hammer Films are set to release two frightfully, suspenseful thrillers, The Resident and Let Me In later this year.

Daytime Dramz, NM

Since January 1970 the acclaimed, daytime drama series All My Children has been based in NYC. Earlier this month it was officially announced that Erica Kane et al will uproot and move the ~whole production to Los Angeles in early 2010.

With prime time drama series such as Wildfire, Easy Money, Crash and the Emmy nominated Breaking Bad already successfully filmed or filming in The Land of Enchantment…

It can’t be long till N.M. makes itself home to its own brand of daytime, dramatic fiction. NM soap lines could easily be drawn from our own local headlines…Perhaps some starcrossed, courthouse romance between NM’s own Vieja Spice, Roberta Vigil and Nick Nolte Esquire John Higgins.

‘Breaking Bad’ Looming, NM

Season 2 of AMC‘s original TV series Breaking Bad is slated to premiere January-ish. The production, filmed in New Mexico, tapped Albuquerque metro locations such as Eldorado High School and Bear Canyon Arroyo.

TV Guide reports that production on CW’s ‘Easy Money‘ was halted in October, originally scheduled to shoot in NM through early December. Let the network know if you want the show back – CW. Support the show, bring those jobs back to NM.
