This week’s feature Indie Q presentation at the historic KiMo Theatre in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico is the highly anticipated short thriller, “Under the Stairs”.
Written by Kieran McGowan, directed by Joshua Sallach, starring OHI fave Jack Justice, “Under the Stairs” is about eight-year-old Jack, who “new to his neighborhood, makes his lonely way home from school to arrive at an empty house as the sun goes down. One evening, Jack discovers a creature living in the darkness under the basement stairs – a creature with a sinister rasp and glowing eyes. The creature asks for Jack’s help: it is alone, it is hungry…and it knows his name.”

From NM to NC – These two New Mexikids who were cast mates in the locally filmed Hallmark Hall of Fame movie Beyond the Blackboard are hitting the books big screen style!
Both New Mexico actors were cast in two critically acclaimed, highly anticipated novels turned films due out next year.
Odd Thomas starring Fright Night’s Anton Yelchin and Addison Timlin, currently in post production – shot right here in NM and features OHI fave Jack Justice.
The Hunger Games filming in North Carolina boasts one of New Mexico’s Own in up & comer, Willow Shields who created a buzz for landing the coveted role of Primrose Everdeen in the film as a relative unknown alongside bigger hitters like Liam Hemsworth (brother of Thor, boyfriend to Miley) Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) and Josh Hutcherson (The Kids Are All Right).
Look for both films and these rising New Mexico stars in 2012.
These two (below) aren’t the only youngins making headlines with the childlike innocence of a first kiss caught on camera.
Two of NM’s Own are set to be featured in their very own “Winnie” Cooper/Kevin Arnold made for TV moment.
When last we saw Jy Prishkulnik here in the 48 Hour Go Green Film Project she was a stand-out (not an easy chore considering the bravado of the lead).
This Sunday night Prishkulnik‘s Wonder Years moment with OHI fave Jack Justice is scheduled to air.
The pair’s on screen ‘kiss’ will mark the first one of its kind for young Justice – and may likely come to brand brains as a rather historic few moments for the young actors.
Tune-in to USA network’s original, Albuquerque based series In Plain Sight to catch the moment. And go to the new http://jackjusticeofficial.com/ to keep up with this rising NM star.
If you’re po’ folk like me watch IPS episodes after they air on payTV here.
Just last week we were thrilled to share big casting news for two of New Mexico’s Own, both landing roles in feature film adaptations of best selling novels!
Two more NM child actors win rave reviews all around for their work in the Disney Channel original movie Lemonade Mouth.
Now we’ve learned through our friend Roscoe Pond over at Native American Hollywood that more congratulations are in order!
And again the amazing opportunities for this young talent and all the cast & crew involved is thanks to more best selling literature hitting the screen in an exciting new television pilot, now filming in northern New Mexico.
From Native American Hollywood.com:
“Amber Midthunder has been cast to play Lilly Stillwater, a central character in the A&E pilot LONGMIRE (based on the mystery novels by Craig Johnson). Production is currently under way.” [Starring] Lou Diamond Phillips, Zahn McClarnon and now Amber Midthunder. This is shaping up to be a cool TV pilot. Let’s hope A & E picks it up as a TV series.
As we told you here Albuquerque’s own Willow Shields is making national, nay world news as the young talent who has been cast as Primrose Everdeen in the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ bestseller The Hunger Games.
OHI fave Jack Justice Brown is also making news that swells our hearts with joy, as the Albuquerque native too is cast in a rabid fan followed, bestselling novel adaptation – Odd Thomas is currently in production locally and NM’s beloved Jack Justice has landed the role of young Odd.
Both young actors were recently featured in the NM production of the Hallmark Hall of Fame original movie Beyond the Blackboard as premiered Easter Sunday on CBS – find it to see many of NM’s Own!
Major congratulations to these two New Mexicans for making great strides in their field and being true artists that we can all be proud of!
