My own little brother is out doing well in the world having left the Land of Enchantment quite a few years ago…since he’s been gone I look for and see shades of him in everyone from his doppelganger and fellow axe-man Ryan McGarvey to the fella who’s brought us all so much in the way of investigative journalism, social media awareness, ho-highlarious Facebook posts and a blog o’fire.
Like so many milestones whether it be the time you see your brother graduate from college and move on further into the world or the last time the nation watches a broadcast of a beloved TV veteran, chapters close and new ones begin.
Yup, one of your faves and mine, my adopted TV bro is up and running with mic all the way to Den Co.
After nine years with KOB-TV, Jeremy Jojola will be signing-off to go to bat for a bigger league at KUSA Denver.
Jai-ho won’t be saying his official, “Hasta Luego” until late July so for now take your chance to rib him as much as possible about everything possible here, here & here and know that this homegrown boy will be taking New Mexico with him wherever he goes!
“I’ve been asked over the years why I haven’t left Albuquerque. A big reason is my wife and my love for New Mexico. I got comfortable here. I became attached. I grew roots. My ancestors looked upon the same sunsets and vistas for the past several hundred years. I can almost feel their souls and spirits around this place. Sorry about the cheesy cliché but its how I feel about this state. People who know me know how much I love New Mexico. I found my identity here. I know what enchantment really means.” – Jeremy Jojola
Congratulations Jeremy – all the best to you and Cheryl!

Now who the h-is gonna get me a lock of hair from the mane of Tom Joles?!?!
Anyone, anyone? Antoinette? I’ll trade you a live, personal performance from NM’s Own Vanilla Ice look-alike.
Unlike some of our previous noms for NM’s Own Celebrity Doppelgängers these TWO local lovies actually have heaping loads of goodness in common with their look-alikes.
So even though our Ke$ha wears pants, our Gabriel Aubrey declined his nom, several of our Own have left us, and Albuquerqueans may prefer the Jackie Alba to the Jessica, these two typify the best of Burque in that they hold transcendent talent and appeal just as well as their international celebrity counterparts.
Having more than just a Network in common Jai Ho a.k.a. Jeremy Jojolawood, a.k.a. Runs with Mic, NM’s Own fave investigative reporter Jeremy Jojola strikes a handsome, skinny suit pose not unlike that of NBC’s reigning late night funny man Jimmy Fallon!
Again the resemblance is more than just purely aesthetic between NM’s resident Renaissance actor, filmmaker and guitar artist Cheo Tapia and the legend that is Carlos Santana!
Keep-up with and support these two heaping loads of goodness and all your favorite NM “celebs”!
Let us know who your picks are for New Mexico’s Own version of global superstars and keep on shining your own star light all over our great state!
The Global Film Maven at On Location Vacations was kind enough to include OneHeadlightInk.com on her very own Top 7 list of noms for a Stylish Blogger Award!
I’d like to personally thank Christine for this as her site is one not to be missed and most of the world knows it! I’m honored any and every time she shines her spotlight on my beloved New Mexico through our humble efforts here on this site for all the world to see!
Thanks!
-Christa

3) This is my only j-o-b

5) I run this blog out of the sincere desire to showcase New Mexico Talent, Community and Issues
6) I am an agoraphobic, social anxiety sufferer in disguise
7) I/we don’t have a personal mobile phone service or caller ID
And here are the 9 sites I nominate for the Stylish blogger Award:
DListed – the ultimate in risque blog poetry by one of the most unsung word-meisters of our time, the irreverent perfection that is Michael K. (Not suitable for all/most audiences)
ABQontheCheap – Because this concept saves locals some dough and it’s written with a personal touch.
JeremyJojola.com – Because who doesn’t love ‘em a little Jeremy Jojola; local news journalist extraordinaire, funny like Jimmy Fallon, heart o’gold, runs with mic like no other…and he’s one in six degrees to TOM JOLES!!!
abqthemag.com – the glossy, classy, flashy version of all things Albuquerque
Alibi.com – the most powerful website in the city!
1003thepeak.com – a little more global than local but whatever your area code the morning team CONNECTS with their people and have a way of keeping it real, keeping it light, with heart…
Native American Hollywood – MUST have casting deets and dish for Native Americans et al in the Southwest and beyond!
New Mexico was swept with a gasp when Jai-Ho broke the news that well respected, nay loved Santa Fe Sheriff Greg Solano resigned because of behavior that cannot but be classified as outside of the law.
Reaction ranged from cases of the sads, to outrage to deep disappointment. Grandpa was none-too-happy, shaking his head saying, “for a Hispanic to have risen to that level and now this…”
On the other side of the coin you can almost see the dusty settles around the silhouette of the defeated Sheriff, whose back story includes his meager beginnings, rise to the top of Capital City law enforcement, then the rue of human existence (money) and his fallible humanness (redundant) leading him to wield the weapon causing so many to fall – the internet.
But seriously this is a sad state of the State and will no doubt unfold as an epic drama, ripe for the stuff of legends in the annuls of NM history to come.
Read the story as it broke, including Greg Solano’s own statement regarding the embezzlement scandal that led to his resignation…here.
Among the many who are passionate about this novel is local investigative reporter extraordinaire and fan, Jeremy Jojola who was recently able to sit down with New Mexican author Rudolfo Anaya who shares his feelings about his classic work, Bless Me Ultima moving onto film.
Here’s hoping we catch at least a glimpse of each of thee above (Jojola à la Transformers and Anaya à la Stan Lee in Spider-Man), and many, many more locals in front of and behind the camera.
Local “people hoping to be cast in the film can send their photo to castinnewmexico@yahoo.com” – KOB.com
Casting for feature roles as previously reported here.
We didn’t need an investigative report but now we have one…on the heels of such prestigious nods as being named #3 in all of North America for film production, New Mexico’s largest city is now widely being hailed as the #1 City in the country for movie making.
Like Facebook early in the year, Gmail will make the news tonight as Error 502 spreads across the internets making millions cryacross the globe. Twitter Tracker is currently ranking Gmail as the #1 trending topic.
Outrage over the new terms of use that were seemingly sneaked on to facebook overnight, blasted across all forms of “media” for the past few days – Even sweeping across the social networking site itself in the form of various protest groups.
NEWSFLASH – Anything you put on the web, anywhere is likely susceptible to becoming public domain or at the very least can be lifted for some computer geek’s own use in one form or another.
This here outrage is garnering tons of coverage for facebook, I’d like to know what kind of spike in traffic the site is receiving thanks to this “scandal”.
Probably enough of a spike to retain some new users which may drive up the climbing asking price for the site. It definitely serves as a distraction from the recently settled lawsuit against baby face Zuckerberg for allegedly “borrowing” the idea for the whole ‘thang.
As of today facebook has recalled their stance on their omnipotence – thanks (in her mind) to facebook devotee Elisabeth (Sarah Palin wanna-be) Hasselbeck.
“Terms of Use Update
Over the past few days, we have received a lot of feedback about the new terms we posted two weeks ago. Because of this response, we have decided to return to our previous Terms of Use while we resolve the issues that people have raised. For more information, visit the Facebook Blog.
While perusing our monthly web statistics – average stuff like averages, traffic, your IP addresses and such, we found an inneresting stat never even peeped before…There’s a category for most popular searches. Casting and especially casting for the psychotically popular Twilight stuff was waay up there, then there were actor names and other event/reference searches but in a pleasant surprise of local pride – There she be at number one, local news anchor Marisa Maez.
Perhaps the masses are concerned that we don’t pay enough attention to Ms. Maez while pondering other local mysteries like why Jessica Garate is yet to be in a major motion picture, why Jeremy Jojola has, why Foxy McBusty does’t keep up with her dye job, and how adorable the Vigil-Orate household is.
Noted: We will now be paying more attention to Marisa, we will sing her praises and get to laughing along with her as she continues to show us sometimes it’s the right time to bust a gut just for the silly of it.
Seriously, we love this chick and not just because she’s talked about us…but because she is one of the least annoying (and I’m annoyed by everything), best delivering, most consistent faces on the NM airwaves. AND she’s big screen ready. Homegirl looks great in HD! Only a handful of her peers are well surviving the HD conversion, much less thriving in it.
We may want to keep her out of NM film if we want to retain ‘er ’cause after one flick she just might move beyond us…Regis & Jess maybe. We don’t get to see heaping doses of her funny bone on her newscasts, but it twinkles in her shiny ojos caliente regularly. Besides I think the sun has set on Kelly’s time in the spotlight. She’s puttering out into more of an impersonator than a personality. Anyway when Kells takes her millions and her dehydrated chicken bones and retires I think our Jess can fill the seat a-fresh.
