The world is just days away from the grand, wide opening of NM’s Own Cowboys & Aliens…
OneHeadlightInk friend, soul sister, past life comrade and current Michigan State Professor, Dr. Laura Birou is one of the select few who’ve been privy to a screening at this year’s just wrapped Comic Con International Convention.
Here is what the good doctor has to say of the film in her very smart, special and concise way:
“…it is not of the same caliber of Iron Man. The Craig-Ford dynamic was wonderful. The Craig-Wilde dynamic, not so much. Rockwell was awesome, had some of the best lines. Script was under developed, a lot of holes.” – Dr. Laura
First they titillated with this now they…tantalize with this (above), the first of what are sure to be many movie posters for the highly anticipated NM Film Cowboys & Aliens.
And the countdown has begun for the first glimpse of the official trailer in T-minus 1 day 23 hours…
We got an early look at Wednesday’s Cowboys & Aliens trailer. We learned Daniel Craig’s alien-fighting cowboy puts James Bond to shame, Harrison Ford has never been nastier, and this really is both serious western and serious alien invasion movie. – io9
UPDATE: Cowboys may not have taken the top nod for the single MOST anticipated movie of 2011 at the Spike TV Scream Awards, but another NM tocado film DID.
The event honoring the best in sci-fi, fantasy, comics & horror airs TONIGHT on SPIKE TV! N. Mex. is a gem in the desert housing all of the above over the past several years (THANK YOU NEW MEXICO FILM!).
Cowboys recently wrapped and absconded after their love affair with our painted skies et al over their many months long shoot in No. N. Mex.
Watch tonight as they’ll likely collect the honor of most anticipated and be sure to hit-up the Iron Man master himself – @jon_favreau to remind the Cowboys & Aliens director that we want a premiere!
The buzz-buzz is that Favs brought HARRISON FORD to his first Comic-Con experience to participate in the Cowboys and Aliens panel this evening…How did Han Solo never go to Comic Con before? Stud.
Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde and Sam Rockwell also appeared. The NM shoot is getting lots o’buzz as Favreau says C&A will be back for Comic Con 2011 just before the release of the much anticipated film – which, as was just disclosed will be in 2 Dimensions…Favs said, “f*ck it” after early digital test shoots.
Just a few weeks into filming the Cowboys ensemble did not disappoint – even bringing a preview reel of the movie that brought the crowd to its feet.
Woot!
First pic of Daniel Craig on the New Mexico set:

After over eight years together as a family Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart chose the burgeoning Film Capital of the World to finally tie the knot.
The secret nuptials took place Tuesday at the Governor’s Mansion in Santa Fe, the ceremony was presided over by El Majico himself.
While the whole of New Mexico is all atwitter about the upcoming shoot of Jon Favreau’s Cowboys and Aliens (as we told you first) this ~reporter simply awaits a Tequila Summit with the I-ron Man director extraordinaire.
Production is getting underway in northern NM as Favreau himself tweets to the masses – where he also gave this sneak twitpic of the Cowboys camera tests, which mainstream media and comic geeks alike are eating-up esp. after the director recently disclosed that it is the easy on the retina Daniel Craig all suited-up.
Those still hungry for production notes and inside dish can “Like” Cowboys & Aliens on Facebook. Get your write-in on to all of thee above encouraging the aforementioned Tequila Summit and suggesting an NM Premiere!
Fresh off his I-Ron Man duties, uber director Jon Favreau is headed to New Mexico to film his latest epic Cowboys and Aliens.
An open casting call for paid extras is being held Saturday May 22 from 10 am – 4 pm. Men, women and children of all ages and races are needed. As we told you here men with long facial hair, particularly mutton chops are desired. Horsemen also in demand.
Yesterday – Uber 80′s western Young Guns filmed in the Land of Enchantment. Back in 86-87 I remember all the girls in mid-school being all atwitter about it. Don’t forget to meet & greet Young Gunner Lou Diamond Phillips at Frontier Restaurant mañana when he buses for the Arts.
Today’s release of IRon Man 2 is tied to NM 3 fold – As previously reported: the teaser above introduces NM’s Thor during Iron’s end credits, the villainous, scene stealing Rourke shot his pick-ups for the movie at Santa Fe’s Garson Studios and lastly the film is brought to us by the incomparable Jon Favreau who is at the helm of the upcoming NM Production Cowboys and Aliens starring those two uglies.
Mañana – You can enjoy the hot, hot, hot & hilarious trailer for NM’s Own MacGruber yesterday, today and tomorrow…the film opens wide May 21.
NM’s Own Thor makes a dent in the end credits of the forthcoming Marvel epic Iron Man 2. The easter-egg cameo kicks up NM desert dust when the Land of Enchantment plates roll into frame where the hammer of the Thunder God has apparently been discovered…dun, dun, dun.
It’s pretty awesome looking. As the footage is so obviously pirated, it will surely be promptly removed…catch it while you can.
But more importantly let it tickle your titillators and scoot you into theaters to support the hot flick that has digitals a la College of Santa Fe, multiple NM filmers Rourke and RDJ and the upcoming comic dream by Iron Man’s Jon Favreau. Go New Mexico!
These two, who’ve so obviously been badly beaten with an ugly stick, are heading to NM. And like the words truffle butter and brownie, that brings on all kinds of warm.
The quietest gazillionare/movie mogul Jon Favreau, known first and favorably to me as the super rich guy on Friends is bringing his sure to be a hit, Cowboys and Aliens to New Mexico this Summer and according to ubercaster of NM’s desert sky stars, Elizabeth Gabel:
“…we will need men to grow out their facial hair, especially the mutton chops and mustaches. Please start growing hair now and send me an updated photo at elizabeth@egcasting.com or mail one to
