UPDATE 7/4/11: Quote of this and every day, “I know that if you’re a woman born in the United States, you’re one of the luckiest women in the world…” – OPRAH WINFREY
Do you prioritize someone who only makes you an option? Do you elect to be idle and rely on others to provide you your happiness or define your worth? Are you waiting for something new to come along and make things better for you?
If you or someone you know is afflicted with the symptoms of inaction and irresponsibility named above then it’s time to mix-it-up, if not for yourself then for your momma. If you don’t like your mother, then for her mother. How? Why?
The next time you’re feeling sorry for yourself, instead of meditating over your vision board, running to a mani/pedi or bingeing on Warm Delights take a think on the pioneer women who bathed lastly in the family bath water, those who today are mutilated or banished by their tribes, starving refugees, cult prey, objectified and oppressed women all over the world, right next door, or right under your own roof – from the beginning of time through today, tomorrow and on and on – and do better for yourself. At the very least, utilize your capabilities and exercise your potential.
If not for you, then for the women that came before – For every woman who waded in mucky bath water, who was taken too soon, helplessly stricken, who didn’t have the right to choose, the opportunity to get out, a chance to try, or even just the freedom to be – be a better woman today and lend to inspiring stronger women tomorrow.
Lesson Learned: Queen up your own castle – no one else is gonna’ do it for you.
