While this blogette has been hoping for a cameo appearance by Mark Wahlberg on the set of Seth MacFarlane’s uproarious comedy western, A Million Ways to Die in the West, now filming here in New Mexico, it looks like TRANSFORMERS 4 has flown onto the radar with its imminent return to the Land of Enchantment.
The Lone Survivor and 2 Guns star has been tapped since last year to star in Michale Bay’s latest installment of the franchise and now that filming looms more deets are coming to light including a laundry list of big hitters to join Wahlberg, Autobots and Descepticons, including Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Nicola Peltz, Sophia Myles and Li Bingbing.
‘Transformers 4′ is scheduled for meteoric release on June 27, 2014.
When this New Mexico Filmophile happened upon a day of Lone Survivor filming in Albuquerque last week, I had the chance to re-introduce myself (stammer and gush) to the one and only Mark Wahlberg!
Wahlberg praised New Mexico, saying he likes filming here, reminding me that he just finished-up a great shoot on another NMFilm, “2 Guns”. He admiringly made mention of the hardworking crew and staff who have been handling the remote mountain shoots on this current project.
Besides lauding the local filming conditions and talent, the family man was also quick to state how convenient it is to get back home to California on breaks from shooting.
So now, my original 20 year-old Mark Wahlberg story comes full circle. It was great to see him at work and he’s just as kind and considerate (and gorgeous) as he was when I first met him as a teen.
In fact, after the take I was able to see, he popped out of the scene and said to me, “Sorry about the language”, with a wink and a smile, regarding his character’s colorful vocabulary (he’s got nothing on Ted).
And just like all the reports and fan photos from 2 Guns would suggest, the star’s graciousness extends to every shoot. When I first got to the set Wahlberg was snapping some pics and chatting with staffers and such. YES ladies and gentlemen, I too got away with a pic and a hug!
Things I forgot to ask:
Whether or not he has or will meet-up with Jennifer Aniston, his Rock Star co-star who’s also currently filming here.
Did he hear anything about filming in NM from his “Fighter” co-stars Christain Bale (3:10 to Yuma, Terminator Salvation) or Amy Adams (Sunshine Cleaning)? What about “The Book of Eli” duo, Denzel Washington (2 Guns co-star) or Mila Kunis (Ted co-star)?
What he thought of big brother Donnie’s stint on the NM series “In Plain Sight”.
Though their time in New Mexico has come to a raucous wrap, The Lone Ranger filming rolls on in California.
Walt Disney Pictures has released these breathtaking long shots and set stills of stars Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp from the gorgeous location shoots here in NM and in UT.

The Lone Ranger is set to hit theaters on July 3, 2013!
UPDATE: Wahlberg’s next NMFilm, “LONE SURVIVOR” will hold an OPEN CALL for EXTRAS on Saturday September 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel in Santa Fe.
A wide range of extras of all types are wanted, with special interest/need for those with Military experience.

The production has been filming in various locations around the state, including the now defunct border crossing replica, constructed in downtown Albuquerque which made the news daily in drive-time traffic reports.
The stars and the hard working New Mexico cast & crew are wrapping-up remote location shoots for the graphic novel turned action suspense movie. 2 Guns is set for a summer 2013 release.
Additional cast includes, James Marsden, Paula Patton, Bill Paxton and Edward James Olmos.
Next for Whalberg is another New Mexico film! The real-life military story of “Operation Red Wing”. Lone Survivor begins filming NEXT MONTH.
The 48-year-old actor was thrown from the powerful animal while filming forthcoming Western movie ‘The Lone Ranger’ but he believes the strong bond he forged with the creature made it react instinctively to ensure his fall wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
Johnny – who plays the Lone Ranger’s Native American sidekick Tonto – said: “I’m lucky to be here. I’ve done a number of films on horseback and I’ve taken a couple of spills but this was a violent one.
“I had a good relationship with the horse, which was named Scout, and when I look at the tape I can see that Scout saved my life.
“I went down badly and I was dragged for 25 yards and in the end the horse just jumped over me and clipped me with his back legs.”
Despite being a huge star, the ‘Dark Shadows’ actor insists he isn’t a very ambitious person and doesn’t choose his roles by guessing how successful they might be.
When he embarked on his acting career, Johnny – who has children Lily-Rose, 12, and 10-year-old Jack with partner Vanessa Paradis – just wanted to be able to look back on his body of work and be proud of it.
He added in an interview with the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I never knew where I was going to go. I never really thought about where any of it was going.
“I only knew that, regardless of success or failure, I always wanted to some day be able to look back and go, ‘I did alright. I’m proud of what I did. I didn’t sell out.’
“I’ve never felt particularly ambitious or driven, although I like to create stuff, whether it’s a little doodle, a drawing, a small painting or a movie or a piece of music, so I suppose I’m driven by that. Everything I’ve done has felt natural.”
I will never forget the night when, as a festival programmer, I first unleashed Calvin Lee Reeder’s short film The Rambler onto a paying audience. There was squirming in seats, nervous laughter, outright confusion, revulsion, shock and outbursts of spontaneous applause. It was perfect. Exactly what you want to do to a midnight audience. And I knew – or at least hoped an awful lot – that we’d be seeing more from Reeder in the coming years.

As we told you here, acclaimed indie short, The Rambler by Calvin Lee Reeder has achieved both raves and a strong fan following since its first film festival rounds back in 2008.
Now set to yield a full-length feature adaptation, The Rambler is currently in production right here in New Mexico.
Lindsay Pulsipher retains her starring role, as seen in the original “blood-soaked mini-classic”, pictured above right in Reeder’s, The Oregonian.
Universally adored actor Dermot Mulroney has been added to the cast, and has not been camera shy in the fledgling days of The Rambler shoot.
See Mulroney pictured above with homegrown actor, comedian, producer Steven Michael Quezada (Breaking Bad, Warrior Woman, Duke City) and New Mexico producer/actor, film industry vet, Chris Ranney.
The production got underway in Roswell, NM over the weekend. A casting call for (volunteer) background extras was issued last week, details here.
Local actors have been in auditions for featured roles for weeks, extras casting is underway and crews have been hard at work, as have been the writers for months now, tackling the grand finale season of the best show on television.
New Mexico’s own Steven Michael Quezada, aka “Gomie” was facebooking on set today, as were production team members and talent saying,
“Oh it so good to be back at work on set of the best show on tv, Breaking Bad” -Studio Member
“Today was an amazing day. Not only did I get to act with Bryan Cranston, [but] I found out today was the first day that they officially started shooting..so I’ll be in the first episode of the last season of Breaking Bad” -Actress Monique Candelaria

Welcome back Breaking Bad!!! CONGRATULATIONS to all our hometown talent and crew who are back at work! Break a leg!
While gaggles (including yours truly) gathered at the state capitol today, to lobby to keep New Mexico film incentives not only enticing but alive, the rest of the world waits with bated breath to see the next development from the NM hosted production of Disney’s, The Lone Ranger.
Variety has pointedly eluded to a Lone Ranger production meeting going down in the Land of Enchantment, scheduled to include the film’s stars Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, this week!
This morning NM’s own Skyranger gets an aerial look at a prospective set.
As the world knows the mega budget, tour de force production of Marvel’s Avengers is also in town…global movie star Stellan Skarsgård here on that shoot pictured with Martinez at Albuquerque’s Hotel Andaluz.
Like I told my girls on Facebook, I just love me some sessy Jesse a.k.a. the delectable, award winning actor Aaron Paul, back to work portraying the ever precious Jesse Pinkman on Breaking Bad. As Coco knows, the show has always been simply “perfection”, but since Jesse cried his eyes out in that crack house I’ve just been crushin’ on ‘em like mad!
And here he is with one of our absolute favorite local dynamos, the magnificent, multi-talented NM actress Andrea B. Good. Drea’s Breaking Bad these days, kickin’ it on set with the amazing cast and crew of the Pride & Joy of New Mexico Productions, for the fourth season of the Emmy winning AMC series.
Today, my most serious TV crush since Tom Hanson, is sporting a new buzz cut, much shorter since we saw him last, guesting on co-star Steven Michael Quezada’s own Late Night TV talk show. Most of the co-stars including the beloved, equally talented and sessy (barely legal) RJ Mitte have stopped-in to make appearances w/SMQ on The After After Par-tay – check it out here!
And keep checking-in with us for more homegrown Br Ba updates to hold you over til’ season premiere time! In the meantime Lisa and I will try not to sniff the Pinkman off of Dre’ the next time we see her and just be satisfied with daydreaming about our favorite make-believe, methmaker with a heart o’gold!
Tours of Old Town posted this pic of the IPS cast & crew between shooting scenes of the USA Network drama – Season 4 premieres May 1.
Last week a fan captured the scene in NE ABQ where the beginnings of a shoot were taking shape. This is our favorite set shot as it confirms Walter White’s season 3 attorney will be back on the job for season 4.
Next-up is THE AVENGERS, hopefully NOT to be followed by the funeral of all that has become good and holy in the world of New Mexico as the top spot in the country for film making – we all know it’s purdy here, but sunsets alone don’t keep the very mobile, very big business of movie makin’ generating gobs of jobs and joy in NM – KEEP NM FILM!
Catch Tatum this April in another NM Film, Haywire – formerly titled Knockout, with Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas, Ewan McGregor and Gina Carano.
Now filming – As we first told you the classic novel Tiger Eyes, by iconic writer Judy Blume, turned movie is in production here in NM.
This pic (above) from the Santa Fe set warms even the dark soul of this Blogette, uniting one of the hardest working stars of New Mexico film and entertainment (seriously, homeboy’s IMDb is set to grow faster & longer than the list of approved ailments for medical marijuana – at least until Susana gets a hold of ‘em both), our own Erik Hausmanis with the legendary author herself.
The screenplay was penned by Judy Blume along with her son Lawrence Blume who is also directing the film. The engrossing story of loss and recovery plays out in the relationships and interactions of the story’s main character, Davey – the adolescent who is the vehicle for Blume’s signature brand of sage wisdom delivered as tacitly as our own life’s lessons often wildly, painfully & wonderfully fall upon us.
Along with the many New Mexicans the movie employs, it is young actress Willa Holland who tackles the coveted role of Davey.
