Thank You and You’re Welcome!

When the backdrop is our glorious New Mexico vistas, the story is the compelling account of real-life heroes in battle, direction by Peter Berg, cast of Hollywood A-listers and actual Military Veterans, movie magic happens…New Mexico style!

Here for your viewing pleasure is a slue of set pics that have come in, from a very special stint that NMFilm “Lone Survivor” cast & crew spent on location at a New Mexico Air Force Base, on and around Veterans Day!

Cast members including Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Eric Bana, Ben Foster, Alexander Ludwig and Sammy Sheik have been in New Mexico since late September filming Peter Berg’s adaptation of the book by Marcus Luttrell.

Luttrell (pictured below with NM native, actor Jerry Angelo) literally wrote the book, Lone Survivor based on the 2005 Military Operation known as Operation Red Wings in which, “a four-man Navy SEAL team consisting of Lt. Michael Murphy, and petty officers Danny Dietz, Matthew Axelson and Marcus Luttrell departed for a reconnaissance mission high in the Hindu Kush Mountains near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. The team’s target was Ahmad Shah, a local terrorist leader with close ties to Bin Laden who led a group of insurgents referred to as the “Mountain Tigers”. Five days after insertion, Luttrell was the only SEAL to make it out alive.”

In June Luttrell is quoted as saying, “I want to make sure that the movie is true to the book. Most people get their information from movies and TV and don’t read so I want to make sure this movie is as realistic as possible.” – Luttrell to Blackfive.net

“Lone Survivor” is scheduled for release in early 2013…

From the Bruckheimer Chronicles AKA Twitter PLUS Johnny Depp on Set

Posted by on June 28, 2012 | 2 comments

New pics from the set of The Lone Ranger as recently tweeted by Mr. Jerry Bruckheimer:

On another side of the coin I do have in my hot little hand, a picture of The Lone Ranger Star, none other than Johnny Depp himself, on the New Mexico studio set for the film.

HOWEVER, I am not at liberty to publish said pic at this time.

Schooled though as I am in the masscommunication and proliferation of gibberish, I can ever so eloquently offer this poetic description of the very, very, exciting, sought after imagery:

Johnny Depp, as you’ve seen him before…

Somehow expressing quirkiness, eccentricity and a subdued humility all in one ever so slight curl of the lip, blankness of eye, and brow almost undetectably half cocked. All this range of emotion and subtle intrigue displayed as only a thespian of his stature could produce.

From behind shades of only slightly detectable blue, beneath a weathered ebony hat, which is crumpled atop his shaggy hairdo, Depp stands, Depp is…

on a studio lot at either dawn or dusk in Albuquerque New Mexico, having just walked between some StarWaggons® on the asphalt all around him (basically he’s walking around wearing these glasses with this hat).

I have other pics at the ready as well. Those too are Johnny Depp, looking like Johnny Depp, on a starry night after a long days work in the Q. COMING SOON!

P.S. Why isn’t New Mexico manufacturing their own version of StarWaggons® already?!?

More Depp (AKA Mah Woo May) in NM here and Depp in costume here and here.

In Plain Sight in Production and On Location in ABQ

Posted by on February 4, 2012 | Comments Off on In Plain Sight in Production and On Location in ABQ

The “fifth and final” phenomenon strikes New Mexico twice this year as Albuquerque is in the midst of taking its final turn as backdrop and host to USA Network’s hit series In Plain Sight.

Albuquerque Mayor Richard J. Berry touts the production saying, “The cast and crew have been instrumental in showcasing our city’s natural beauty, and creating jobs by staffing 90% of their crew with New Mexico residents.”

Mary Mac & Co. have called NM their IPS home since 2007.

The final season is currently on location in downtown Albuquerque (as spotted here) and surrounding areas – polishing off the series from their longtime home base in I-25 Studios.

Season five premiers on March 16 and concludes in May.

So as New Mexico preps to bid a sad, but fond farewell to the production, as in the case of its sister series Breaking Bad, this is last call!

Pec-tacular and Toothriffic (I’m sorry)

Posted by on April 27, 2011 | Comments Off on Pec-tacular and Toothriffic (I’m sorry)

If you know me, you prolly know my affinity for pectorals (and shoulders), a certain Spiderman action figure (and a certain hubs)…but I digress with an opportunity to post my personal favorite image released from Dreamworks of the wholly NM Film FRIGHT NIGHT!

Not to be outdone by The Avengers (because I won’t let them), tight as they might be holding to the Fright Night movie trailer or even a teaser, or even a gosh darn official poster, SKG/Dreamworks has teased with a viewing of several clips of 3D footage of the film…and though nary hide nor hair of a New Mexican may have been present for the event we’re still blessed with a new image via CineMovie.tv – ¡woot¡

p.s. Sadly, yes horseradish can be too hot…

AAAll Signs Point to Thor

Posted by on March 22, 2010 | Comments Off on AAAll Signs Point to Thor

Movie Web published some pics of a certain comic book hero’s sweeping views of the New Mexico desert (remember in the world according to Nick Lachey teaching J. Simps: two ‘ss”s is after dinner dulce and our expansive vistas are one ‘s’), much to the chagrin the site’s readers who maligned the secret set shots – we like ’em.

But we’re positive like that!
