“Albuquerque, N.M., will also receive an advanced [sic] screening due to filming that took place there as well.”
Well hell New Mexico, whatta ya’ know? While local news is quick to report that the country is in a race to procure a pre-screening of NM’s Own (in-part), Marvel’s AVENGERS, per the AP wire pickup:
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Facebook fans are getting an early shot to see the all-star superhero tale “The Avengers.”
Disney’s Marvel Studios announced Monday that it will offer advance screenings around the world in cities where “The Avengers” has gained the most fans on Facebook.
Early screenings will start with shows in Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Houston and Miami on April 14, nearly three weeks before the film’s May 4 U.S. debut. Admission will be free, first-come, first-served.
Marvel plans another round of early screenings in five more cities. Fans can lobby for their city on “The Avengers” Facebook page.
“The Avengers” features Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johannson, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner.
…Cleveland’s own NewsNet5 (begrudgingly) reports:
“Albuquerque, N.M., will also receive an advanced screening due to filming that took place there as well.”
“…hard to believe that we are less than six weeks away from the theatrical debut of The Avengers.”
Today our friends at Dis Fan Review have assembled these amazing AVENGERS images, including the great shot above of director Joss Whedon working with Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) at NM productions hot spot, The Albuquerque Rail Yards.
While Whedon’s Avengers are barreling toward their eagerly awaiting legions of fans in true superhero fashion, more Whedon ties to New Mexico unfurl…
The Santa Fe New Mexican notes: Joss Whedon must love New Mexico! The writer-director of The Avengers, which was filmed in New Mexico, is working on Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog 2, the follow-up to the popular Web series starring Albuquerque native Neil Patrick Harris. Whedon says shooting should begin this summer and that the story has already been outlined.
And third on the wire re: a Whedon/NM connection, New Mexico-born Drew Goddard and longtime collaborator Joss Whedon present, The Cabin in the Woods (opening on April 13), combining “horror, comedy and a slew of sly allusions to movies ranging from the familiar to the for-serious-buff-only…”, so says the Film Journal.com.
The trailer for “The Avengers” has been out since mid-October — but thanks to a newly released alternate version, there are a few more scenes to chew on.
The Russian version of the trailer runs roughly the same length as the trailer released in the U.S. But it offers the first glimpses of Tony Stark (a.k.a. Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr.) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) encountering one another.
The trailer also features Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) as their non-superhero selves, Natasha Romanoff and Bruce Banner.
(We’re still waiting on our Russian translator to figure out what they’re saying.)
Because NM doesn’t play host to pappers or stalkerazzi (like those fiends pictured in thumb 4) nor well publicize when & where we have gaggles of worldwide superstars (good deal?) big cities (even Cleavland) still have us beat for all the great set pics.
Here from NYC, courtesy of my brother from another mother, are a boatload of Labor Day weekend pics of the WHOLE AVENGERS cast all suited-up.
Though just a babe himself, remember my beloved uses A LOT of salty language not suitable for young readers…ENJOY the pics and save your dlisted reading enjoyment to times away from preschool eyes, like at WORK.
Here are a few thumbnails from Michael K‘s gallery with which you can whet your eyes anytime…
Since wrapping things up here in The Land of ‘secluded’ Enchantment back in late July The Avengers have taken-up in Cleavland as scheduled.
This is set video from earlier in the week of some downtown demolition as orchestrated for the sure to be action-packed flick.
And from the online imps who post pirated theater footage here is the film’s extended teaser trailer as it rolled at the conclusion of Captain America: The First Avenger last month.
The New Mexico/Ohio production will open wide next spring!
AVENGERS, NM – The biggest production the state has ever seen has wrapped its New Mexico run for the hotness of Cleavland…
Though gone they’ll doubtfully ever be forgotten…top secret as it was ;)
Just in time for their farewell to New Mexico we get this first peek at the film and the promise of perhaps a soupçon more if you hustle into theaters NOW to see Captain America: The First Avenger…
While we were out:
Thanks to our friends at Disney Film Fan Review we didn’t miss the news that Pepper Potts did indeed get to work in Nuevo México recently.
And now it’s been confirmed from DFFR secret sources that Paltrow made an equally super secret trip into the Land of Enchantment, working for two whole days in reviving her turn as Tony Stark’s main squeeze and right hand woman for the current Avengers shoot.
No specific deets were shed on what the fluent en español GOOPmeister did partake of during her short stay in NM other than the fact that her two children with hubs, Cold Play frontman Chris Martin did accompany her.
Renner back to NM in 3…2…
Looks like HAWKEYE will be NYC bound post AVENGERS to take-up the reins of The Bourne Legacy from Matt Damon…the “whole new” action, suspense thriller is set to shoot in New York this September.
The Hurt Locker star is also gearing-up to produce, direct and star in the Rally Race film Slingshot, expected to shoot in New Mexico.
More on the Paramount Pictures backed film based on the true story of racer, Bill Caswell and the latest on more upcoming Renner here.
UPDATE 9/3/11: In the latest debacle from the Summer Comedy Tour that just won’t quit being anything but funny, backlash from Williams’ perceived hateful rant to a Mexican American/Mexican National during a show late last month draws an apology…of sorts, “Katt Williams apologizes to Mexicans but not NEW Mexicans nor Arizonans…” Full story here.
UPDATE 7/5/11: Apparently the Chicanery of the Katt Williams tour of warped did not start in the Q.
Just days before the comedian struck the Land of Enchantment with a case of the WTFs (below), the “tour” had rolled on into AZ where TMZ is reporting that a member of Williams’ staff shot dead the canine life of a retired AZ Police Dog who got too close for the comfort of said employee (hopefully former employee at this point).
But the odd train doesn’t end there…to make it “right” a mastiff puppy was produced from the tour bus to ~replace the K9 who was killed!?!?
The full story here.
Katt Williams in Albuquerque hours before his increasingly infamous New Mexico “appearance”.
Local Beauty Nicole B. ran into the comedian at Cottonwood Mall in NW ABQ, where she says he was “super cool” and even paid for her kiddos to ride the carousel with him.
Both candids show a wholly pulled together looking Williams, a far cry from what the crowed at Tingley Coliseum would experience much, much later in the night and the mug shot (center) from the performer’s arrest in CA earlier this month.
Showing shades of breakdown in these two episodes many fans are calling out for those close to Williams to intervene…
UPDATE 06/28/11 Katt Williams Ticket Holders:
For Immediate Release
Official statement from Str8lace Entertainment
RE: Katt Williams Show 06/25/2011
We would like to start by explaining our position in regards to the Katt Williams Concert on June 25, 2011. We have recently been inundated by questions and requests for ticket refunds due to the lack of professionalism displayed by Mr. Williams at the recent concert. We are equally upset by the antics that were displayed for whatever personal reason Mr.Williams might be experiencing. We went above and beyond normal measures to ensure Mr.Williams was in Albuquerque and went onstage. Our expenses in doing so far exceeded our original budget and ticket sales revenues, due to the extra expense brought on by delays, over time rent on the venue, sound, labor, etc. As promoters we did our job as per our contractual obligations. We booked, paid for and promoted the show. ALL of the acts Showed up and performed. Some better than others, but they were all there and performed. We have no control over the content or quality of their performances. While we are disappointed, we feel the liability lies in the hands of Mr.Williams himself. We feel your frustration, and are in the same space financially, At a loss. So we will not be offering refunds of any kind. We are very sorry for the circumstances.
Because we are a small locally owned Promotions company we would in good faith like you to keep your Katt Williams ticket stubs for discount on a soon to be announced show we will put on in an effort to show good faith and give something to our community that were effected by Mr.Williams “Performance”. Thank you for your understanding and support.
If you like me have been asking yourself, “Katt who?” amidst all the online & around town buzz today over his appearance in the Q last night…and if a quick Google search only leads you to the above TMZ story of this “the second most important black guy on the face of the Earth”, you may find it interesting to get the low-down from those who were there…
Two of New Mexico’s Own set the *record straight with deets of what happened at the Katt Williams show where yet another Avenger was out & about…
Luckily for Nick Fury aka Samuel L. Jackson and the rest of the crowed who showed for this event the consummate awesomeness that is The James Douglas Show and the rest of the NM crew brought it!
The Truth From the Sidelines – by Marco Nunez
I have been reading all this stuff on FB about the KW show last night, and it’s funny to hear how all of the stories have morphed into such far cries from the truth! It goes from “he was late and High and didn’t put on a good show” to “He came in with Samuel Jackson Riding a zebra smoking heroin and threatened to rape all the white women and steal their pink fur coats!”
The whisper game is funny!! I helped the promoters do some tech stuff on this show ( I booked the Audio/Lighting and booked a tour bus for Katt To get here from L.A., and provided our van for ground transportation) So I was able to see what went on beforehand with all of them. AAANNNDD I wasn’t there for the show ( we left as soon as we were done with our show because we had to play at Hard Rock) so I know that when we left everything was fine and the only variable was Katt.
The truth is… Everyone from the Albuquerque side of things The promoters, The James Douglas Show & Dancers (Tracy & Glenda), Big Moon, Eric Martinez, The radio stations involved, Tingley staff, Stage company, Audio company, lighting company and even the girls who showed up to walk Katt onstage DID THIER JOBS!!!
The promoters from str8lace did EVERYTHING THEY SAID THE WERE GOING TO DO! THE WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TO MAKE SURE KATT SHOWED UP IN ALBUQUERQUE.
I’ve heard Katt said last night that he didnt know about this show??? I personally booked the tour bus (WITH THE PROMOTERS MONEY) to get him here. The Hosts last night were faced with a crowd of 6k angry, frustrated (AND RIGHTFULLY SO) people, and still held it together.
IT WAS NOT ANYONE IN NM FAULT THE SHOW WAS ROUGH LAST NIGHT EXCEPT KATT WILLIAMS. AND I WOULDN’T EVEN BE MAD AT HIM, I FEEL SORRY FOR HIM. THE FURTHER YOU HAVE TO FALL THE MORE ITS GOING TO HURT WHEN YOU HIT THE GROUND. ILL PRAY FOR HIM.
As far as The JDS is concerned…WE HAD A BLAST!! THANK YOU ALBUQUERQUE FOR SHOWING US SO MUCH LOVE!! Both Tingley and Hard Rock last night were both great shows for us!!
Thank you very much for supporting us like you do!
Ok, normally I wouldn’t even say anything or get involved. But I want to say that Big Moon and I had nothing to do with the promotion, booking, organizing, or anything on this event besides hosting it.
Yes it was unfortunate what happened, and I’m not taking sides. However anyone who was there, saw Katt’s behavior for themselves. Spitting chewing tobacco in his hands and rubbing it in his hair, yelling at the audience, leaving the stage to pray, doing push-ups…the list goes on.
He did know about the show, he did get paid, he even did a drop on the air talking about how excited he was to come to Albuquerque. Shawty, AJ, The JDS and us all did our jobs to make sure everyone was comfortable and had the best time possible.
NO ONE had control over Katt but Katt. He showed up late, got served papers, and disappointed a lot of people. Again, I am not defending the actual promoters but everyone who was backstage including Samuel L. Jackson could see that everyone was doing what they could to accommodate Katt, his late arrival, his stage show AND could see that something was wrong with him.
I’m a huge Katt Williams fan and was sad to see him in that state. But no is responsible for Katt but Katt.
– Eric Martinez, Katt Williams ABQ Show Host

As the biggest production get of the outgoing NM State Film commission nay the biggest production get in the history of the state the Avengers have brought New Mexico global recognition, excitement, jobs and an influx in tourism!
Now CHECK-OUT the above poster for Marvel’s Avengers as on display at the International Licensing Expo in Las Vegas last week – all three Avengers who recently rocked out with Mötley Crüe in the Q are shown as they will appear in the movie and in the plethora of merchandising sure to follow…
Movies.ie also notes, “Captain America’s modern suit which has wings on the helmet along with an idea of what Hawkeye will look like…the Iron Man suit has been updated too.”
These and more of the Albuquerque adopted super heroes are still in our midst as production rolls on this week. Meanwhile New Mexico represents on the big screen as host to some of the highly skilled hands of Sony Imageworks that touched-up the current box office topper The Green Lantern.
YOU still have a chance to put YOUR hand, face and/or feet in The Avengers if you can make it out for what’s really, really HOT IN CLEVELAND:
Producers will see people 18 and older
12-4 p.m. July 15
10 a.m.-4 p.m. July 16
at the Holiday Inn
6001 Rockside Road
Independence, OH (just outside the land of Cleve.)
As in the case of casting in the Q this call sheet too advises that people “come well-groomed…wearing your best business executive outfit,” Adults may submit “current pictures of children under 18” for consideration as possible extras.
The Avengers will shoot for approx. two weeks within 30 miles of Cincinnati – Enjoy your influx O-hi!
People should “come well-groomed and wearing your best business executive outfit,” the call sheet said. Adults also may submit “current pic tures of children under 18” for consideration as possible extras.
From the boys who are presenting the Morning Edge Golf Tournament: Take a Slice Off Hunger, we learned that THE HULK aka Mark Ruffalo was recently spotted at the ABQ Uptown Mac store.
Our own Albuquerque AVENGERS are in town for a few months longer before heading to that Ohio land of Cleve…
If I had the dough I’d sponsor a “Hole in one” where contestants could enter to win in a shoot-out to putt and plug Kim K’s hole (her mouth cocinos).
Chris Evans aka Captain of America but not NM, should sponsor it with me since that tonto can’t find anything to do.
I hear NM lover Samuel L. Jackson plays a mean game o’ golf! ROCK ON Sgt. Nick Fury!
Info. on AVENGERS open casting call in Cleveland – here.
Maybe like that very cute, but hyper pubescent boy from my 9th grade summer school remedial math class, Chris Evans thinks it’s adorbs bordering on irresistible to throw an almost nonsensical put down on every other thing…Or maybe like a Dixie Chick in London he wants to declare a full on public denouncement.
While on a quick jaunt to la la land from his host city of Albuquerque, New Mexico where he’s being paid millions of dollars to play grown-up Marvel comics with A-list cast & crew Chris played cut-up with MTV news spouting off about the drabs of the shooting locale.
Me thinks it’s the former that made this lucky actor sound off like this, esp. seeing as his screen idols and fellow Marvel heroes who’ve worked and played in the Land of Enchantment before haven’t been known to quip and complain about the state.
To quote an even lesser man, “Silly kids, let the adults do the talking for the state.”
Before your friendly neighborhood AVENGERS take over the Albuquerque International Airport they first sweep the underbelly (literally) of downtown Albuquerque.
NOW FILMING in the basement of the sizable property that is the Albuquerque Convention Center.
So many of you darlin’ readers already know this and much much more and may I just say how excited and proud for you and the whole of our great state for being a part of this grande muy magnifico production!!
(Let’s all remain as respectful and professional as those with NDAs)
Just one week ago over 100 companies were invited here to the world renowned NM set by Marvel Studios for a “Licensing Summit”. Read the transcript of what one of these companies were allowed to say about what they saw and did there!

Like habitual New Mexico movie star Seth Rogen, his fellow funny men and gajillions of Hollywood celebs who take to the hills, whether it be for work or rec, RDJ was getting his hike on in Albuquerque TODAY!
No official word on what Iron Man is here for but gossip abounds that he may be set to shoot his scenes for a little film called THE AVENGERS, duh!
Star of many a scene in everything from Gamer to Terminator: Salvation; host to NM productions like Beyond the Blackboard, served as a backdrop for In Plain Sight, Breaking Bad and umpteen more Indie & Artsie films and photo shoots, the storied Albuquerque Rail Yards appear to be up for a role in the biggest movie in New Mexico history!
One of the most beloved and dear demographics on the planet (comic nerds) are all atwitter with these pictures via Superhero Hype said to be the set of an upcoming Avengers shoot.
No word or buzz yet whether or not my personal favorite architectural nay public works landmark will score a role in the film, but with its previous appearances as the Gates of Cyberdyne, etc., etc., I don’t know how it couldn’t be at least asked to audition!
Break a leg Rail Yards, but not Scarlett’s because no AVENGER is more coveted the world over!
UPDATE 5/2/11 Though the statement released by Marvel Studios today (below), is being batted about all over the web as possibly being a ploy, a conspiracy or a cover-up, OneHeadlightInk.com can confirm:
The Avengers production moved ahead in Albuquerque today, business as usual. Samuel Jackson is here, film actually rolled – CONFIRMED
Reports were flying this morn’ that a New Mexican or at least someone in Samuel L. Jackson’s beloved Nuevo Mexico had perpetrated a crime against all that is holy in the superhero world by HIGHjacking from Sam one of the most coveted scripts in comic movie history…
Like the much lored tale of the then latest version of the iPhone being
planted stoopidly left behind in a coffee shop or brew haus…this here story is sure to be chalk full of twists and turns.
News ~broke last week that media outlets were being offered the buy. This weekend it has been confirmed that production of the blockbuster in the making is halted until further notice and sources tell Film Fan Review that the script indeed remains on the loose BUT WAS NOT STOLEN from New Mexico USA but rather lifted in either Burbank or Los Angeles California, UFO.
Mama smells stunt and/or rewrites from the production that is sure to yield many of both…in any case this should not go down in the annals of New Mexico Film history as a black eye on our great state…
Unless fiscal opportunist “Harry” Winston Brooks or NM Film
seductress Saboteur Susana don’t each have a solid alibi….
UPDATE 5PM (MST): Several NM Set Insiders are stating to us that they have received no notification of a production breach or break and will be reporting to their jobs at next call.
UPDATE 5/2/11 Marvel Studios has released this statement:
“Filming for ‘The Avengers’ is active, on schedule and going well,”
While we’re learning but scant tidbits from the intense media coverage of Marvel’s Avengers, currently in production here in NM, such as how Mark Ruffalo will achieve the Hulk Bulk, that Captain America will get a new costume for this side of the pond, that Thor says expect tension, and what the character set chairs look like…
The latest in supplementary casting news is as follows from FeatureFilmCasting.com:
Walt Disney co-owned Marvel Studios has begun production on the superhero blockbuster film “Marvel’s The Avengers”. There will be ongoing casting for day players, extras, stand-ins, and photo doubles in Albuquerque, Cleveland, and New York City throughout the entire production which will run through September 2010.
“Marvel’s The Avengers” is being produced by Marvel Studios’ President, Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Louis D’Esposito, Patty Whitcher, and Jon Favreau. Marvel Studios’ Jeremy Latcham and Victoria Alonso will co-produce.
Based on the hugely successful Marvel comic book series, “Marvel’s The Avengers” brings together the mightiest Super Hero characters as they all assemble together on screen for the first time. “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the first feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009. The studio’s plan for “Marvel’s The Avengers” is so enterprising that many of the starring actors involved in these recent Marvel superhero pictures have been signed with options for as many as nine films.
Shooting is taking place at Albuquerque Studios, and will also take place at Grumman Studios in Bethpage, New York, and at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn, New York City. Set construction at Steiner Studios is slated to begin in November and the production is expected to use the facility for months. There will be 2 months of filming in Cleveland, Ohio where over 2,000 extras are expected to be cast.
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has acquired worldwide distribution rights for “Marvel’s The Avengers” from Paramount for $115 million in a deal which also included Iron Man 3. “Marvel’s The Avengers” is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 4, 2012.
