The beautiful and talented Natalie Portman is no stranger to NM.
It was here, while she was busy catching the eye of ““Thor”“, that Santa Fean’s caught the starlet out and about. And in northern N.M., Portman delivered a heart wrenching performance along with her equally riveting co-stars, Tobey McGuire and Jake Gyllenhaal in 2009’s “Brothers”.
Now the Oscar winner is set to produce and star in the upcoming Western, “Jane Got a Gun”.
Buzz on the wire is that Michael Fassbender is also in for a leading role in the project. Off the wire, the buzz is the possibility of the film landing in NM for at least part of its early 2013 production.
According to the Hollywood Reporter:
Jane Got a Gun centers on a woman whose outlaw husband returns home riddled with bullet wounds and barely alive. When her husband’s gang eventually tracks him down to finish the job, she is forced to reach out to an ex-lover and ask if he will help defend her farm.
Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall – New Mexico is for Coupling! So much so that Han Solo chose to finally make Ally McBeal his bride here and the pretty birdie now known as Black Swantastic is betrothed AND knocked-up after catching smootches with her on and off screen love interest in the Fe as we brought you here…
Even the mighty Thor himself, who surely danced some New Mexico nights fantastic with his Spanish lady love is now HITCHED!

In the BIGGEST film production news to hit New Mexico since 1910,
our El Majico OFFICIALLY announced Wednesday the NM Film prospect we’ve been following for you here…
Better than an early “Christmas present to the people of New Mexico,” it is perhaps the Swan Song of our departing Governor, Bill Richardson to bring us the news that Marvel’s latest and greatest assembly of Superheroes – will land squarely in Nuevo Mexico come April!
One or BOTH of these super-hero studs coming to a town near YOU, NM!!!
The Comic-Bible sites are a buzz-ity-buzz, BUZZ today about the fact that Marvel’s big boys are set to bring some more of their big toys to Nuevo México.
As we’ve reported here Captain America has been overseas filming in the UK and now some U.S. filming questions may be answered with a big FAT N.M.
Like Thor and light Iron Man 2 werk picked-up here before him it appears a lil’ bit O’ Captain is headed this way.
Yes, the comic rabid are batting about that very prospect. The actual chatter is stating that vague deets are spewing forth that either I-Ron Man III or The Captain is NM bound, but this blogette would not be at all surprised if we get both these
heavy hitters! Captain’s ETA is as early as January…
Looks good! Moments harken back to pivotal moments of the 70’s/80’s superhero movie era, like in Superman II when the bad guys are hurling through space on that sheet o’glass, after court in those revolving hoola hoops.
I’m feelin’ it too, like when Thor’s all banished & stuff – that was totally what it was like when I got banished!
I’ll tell you who he is seksi FBI man ;) – THOR New Mexico baby! (and oh yeah, he is worthy!)
And p.p.s. HELLO Destroyer! INCREDIBLE!
Go NM!!! I can’t stop watching it, like I couldn’t stop staring at the stars of Cowboys and Aliens when I first threw that up!
From the other worldly desert hammer to the Hall of Asgard (above) the mighty Thor is edging toward completion and glimpses of this Kenneth Branagh inception continue to be put forward.
Filmed between California (Del Mar, L.A., Raleigh Manhattan Beach Studios) and New Mexico (Santa Fe and Galisteo), we’ve so far seen the Chris Hemsworth embodiment of the Thunder God, the Destroyer in the desert, and have been tagged in the Global coverage (flattering and not) of this Marvel.
Don’t forget the Thor-fest rolls into Comic Con with many other NM productions!
Branagh & co.’s Thor hits theaters May 2011 in 3D!!
Not one but THREE FOUR New Mexico Films will be showcased at this year’s largest fiction/fantasy fan convention, Comic Con International in San Diego California, July 22 – 25.
My beloved Cowboy(s) and Aliens, now filming in the vast seclusion of our New Mexico desert, will be reviewed by non-other than director Jon Favreau (Iron Man) on Saturday to include an open Q & A. Perhaps there Favs will disclose the yay or nay on his gorgeous film’s dimensions be it 2 or 3!!! Like Iron Man’s cousin Thor…
Thor is in and out of the news, most recently for this just released production still for the film which is catching its unfair share of flack. Producer Kevin Feige will be on hand to discuss the much anticipated Marvel release of New Mexico’s Thor and the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger.
“Scheduled to appear for Universal Pictures’ sci-fi comedy-adventure Paul are a who’s who of film comedy. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who takes them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever. Q&A session to follow.” – Screen Rant
“The cast and filmmakers of (NM’s) Let Me In, a haunting and provocative thriller written and directed by filmmaker Matt Reeves (Cloverfield), give the Hall H audience a sneak peek at this highly anticipated film. Let Me In is an astonishing coming-of-age story involving a young girl (Kick Ass’s Chloe Moretz) and an alienated boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee from The Road) unlike any you have seen. Based on the bestselling Swedish novel Lat den Ratte Komma (Let The Right One In) by John Ajvide Lindqvist and the highly acclaimed film of the same name, Let Me In takes audiences straight to the troubled heart of adolescent longing and loneliness. Academy Award-nominee Richard Jenkins (The Visitor) also stars in this exhilarating reboot of the beloved original.” – Comic Con
ed. notes: SyFy Network’s NM production, Stargate Universe will also hold court. And last year’s NM Comic Con reps. The Book of Eli and Legion are now out on DVD.
This is the first official movie still released where we get to see the contemporary, bicep-bulging, Chris Hemsworth going classic comic book hero as Kenneth Branagh’s THOR.
Another sweet peek into the latest of what will likely be a mega, blockbuster comic book franchise from Marvel, as previously glimpsed in the leaked bunny dropping we first showed you here of the New Mexico production.
“The epic adventure “Thor” spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.” – Marvel.com

Today’s release of IRon Man 2 is tied to NM 3 fold – As previously reported: the teaser above introduces NM’s Thor during Iron’s end credits, the villainous, scene stealing Rourke shot his pick-ups for the movie at Santa Fe’s Garson Studios and lastly the film is brought to us by the incomparable Jon Favreau who is at the helm of the upcoming NM Production Cowboys and Aliens starring those two uglies.

NM’s Own Thor makes a dent in the end credits of the forthcoming Marvel epic Iron Man 2. The easter-egg cameo kicks up NM desert dust when the Land of Enchantment plates roll into frame where the hammer of the Thunder God has apparently been discovered…dun, dun, dun.
It’s pretty awesome looking. As the footage is so obviously pirated, it will surely be promptly removed…catch it while you can.
But more importantly let it tickle your titillators and scoot you into theaters to support the hot flick that has digitals a la College of Santa Fe, multiple NM filmers Rourke and RDJ and the upcoming comic dream by Iron Man’s Jon Favreau. Go New Mexico!
Movie Web published some pics of a certain comic book hero’s sweeping views of the New Mexico desert (remember in the world according to Nick Lachey teaching J. Simps: two ‘ss”s is after dinner dulce and our expansive vistas are one ‘s’), much to the chagrin the site’s readers who maligned the secret set shots – we like ’em.
