News has just come in to OHI that a series pilot based on a bestselling book trilogy by author Charlaine Harris is about to film in Albuquerque. “Midnight Texas” is a supernatural drama pilot for NBC. Good news for #NMFilm as word came down last week that the sophomore season of WGN’s, “Manhattan” was its last.

As the fifth season of “Longmire”, stemmed from the novels by Craig Johnson, is getting underway in Santa Fe, Albuquerque now has “Western Texas” and “From Dusk Till Dawn” to look forward to. Both of which add to an already busy television series shooting schedule with “The Night Shift” for NBC and “Preacher for AMC currently in production.

Another book series by Harris called “The Southern Vampire Mysteries” was the inspiration for HBO’s hit series, “True Blood”. The “Western Texas” pilot is being adapted for the small screen by executive producer David Janollari (Six Feet Under) and Monica Breen (Lost). To be directed by Niels Arden Oplev for fall 2016.

Janollari tells EW that the fictitious setting is “where humans and the supernatural co-exist, and where everyone has a secret,” Adding, “It’s equal parts humorous, sexy, and downright scary.”
