A conservative report by the state’s Economic Development Department shows that for the third year in a row (FY2016/17) the New Mexico Film industry has had a record breaking year, beating the previous record by more than $115 million.

Film and television productions added approximately $505.9 million into the state’s economy. Up $387 million in fiscal year 2016.

Sixty-one (61) major productions were in principal photography in New Mexico during FY16. The data shows that the industry continues to support more jobs, with over 448,304 worker days in FY17.

Another New Mexico production will land at streaming network behemoth Netflix. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs directors/producers announced Wednesday, “We’re streaming motherfuckers!” The six part western anthology is set for a 2018 release. Currently filming cast include Tim Blake Nelson, Tyne Daly, James Franco & many more.
