Toni Collette did not take home a statue this year but was awarded the Emmy last year for lead actress in a drama series for the United States of Tara (Edie Falco got the award this year for Nurse Jackie). Collette is currently in town filming Fright Night.
Resident designer, part time director and “rancher” Tom Ford dressed the event’s host, Jimmy Fallon among other nominees, winners and presenters.
Temporary New Mexican Joan Allen, was up for lead actress in her NM film Georgia O’Keeffe which was nominated for Best TV Movie, Art Direction, Best Casting, Best Directing, Best Hairstyling, Best Makeup, Best Music Composition and Best Costumes. – HELLO!
You memmer him, he and his gorgeous familia – who shared their awesome pics with all of us. Oh of course you know his name…as does THREE time consecutive winner for lead actor in a drama series Bryan (standing ovation from TOM HANKS) Cranston!!! (as heard above)
The reigning King and Queen of New Mexico Steven Michael and Cherise Quezada hit the red carpet in L.A. today with their eldest daughter (who’s easily giving those young stars a run for their money), direct from Homiewood to Hollywood as part of the incredibles a.k.a. the cast & crew of AMC’s original series Breaking Bad.
As we’ve ~reported here before the world renowned series is up for 7 awards tonight including best drama series and best lead actor for Bryan Cranston (his third nom, w/two previous wins!!!).
Native New Mexican’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Neil Patrick Harris (above) also in da’ house! Tune in to E! for pre-show interviews and NBC for the live awards show hosted by Jimmy Fallon.

UPDATE: 8/25/10 Upon further…reflection this is a very valid example of how/why we love our newsies:
Right?!? A pay per view of these smart, handsome men+ saying such things. It would make a FORTUNE!
ICYDK Your Sindicator is a bit of a local news junkie and radio show groupie…soooooooo this lil’ contest is right up my alley.
Now, NM has enough newsie cuties to fill-up multiple years worth of camp-calendars, but this here is the current line-up of news beef-cake for your voting consideration as presented by JTD of KPEK.
No, I don’t know if they’re taking write-ins, but I do know that there is a plethora of behind the news scenes goodness including a certain a lil’ sexy and a Saint just to name a few…but for now these are your contenders for The Peak’s “Hunkiest Man Hunk” of NM t.v. news:
(g’on git’ yir vote on! It’s good practice for NOVEMBER)
On a very closely related note (to the previous post) there is a MAJOR opportunity with our Fox television affiliate for someone with mega watt talent to host their very own show:
“ALBUQUERQUE – Southwest television station is seeking a host for a brand new morning Style and Talk show on KASA-TV (Fox), part of LIN Media’s top-rated duopoly in Albuquerque, NM. And by “Cool” I mean Mike Powers and by “the Gang” I mean all the beautiful ladies and handsome gents of KRQE y KASA Fox 2 News.
With a picture so crystal clear it’s practically 3D you can gaze into the dreamy eyes of Tim Maestas and depth so real you can almost smell the freshness of grooming products on the perfectly coiffed aforementioned Powers.
For a groovier groove check out those weathercasters, esp. at night with their celestial glow as they pop off your set from in front of their green screen.
My one and only complaint is of the swiveling, HD symbols in the sidebars of video frames. Those things are giving me visual Tourette’s, like other simple life forms I’m totally distracted by the tiny shiny objects.
I’m sure I’ll complain again when all the seksi ladies of KRQE begin to give me a complex lookin’ all fly in Hi Def. Check it all out from the rockin’ new set to the FOF Michael Jambalaya (I say that with great respect for diverse and spicy things) every day on KRQE News 13 and Kasa Fox 2 News at 9.
Reviews are pouring in for this weekend’s directorial debut of NM’s Own Neil Patrick Harris. NPH took his very own production of RENT to the Hollywood Bowl with a mixed bag of talents and we’re hearing he churned out a performance worthy of the original.
From his ABQ roots performing at Musical Theatre Southwest straight through to his Emmy nominated run on the CBS hit series How I Met Your Mother Harris holds steady as on of NM’s brightest stars.
Besides his directorial duties, dogooding and his t.v. gig NPH will be back on the big-screen in 2011 (in 3D no less) when he reprises his stint in the Harold & Kumar movie series in A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas!
Also in 2011 he lends his zexy voice to the 3D animated film Smurfs and next month he will haunt the lives of evil doers as the voice of The Amazing Spiderman in the video game Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.
Are you an incredibly talented and dynamic “HISPANIC” person doing something unique and amazing? Have you ever dreamed of being a TV STAR??
Whether you possess the talent of George or Jennifer Lopez we WANT YOU! Powderhouse Productions is looking for dynamic Hispanic talent for a major TV network.
If you are interested in sharing your story, here is what we need from you:
• BRIEF BIO: In a short write-up, tell us about you and what you do. Tells us what you could offer in a TV show.
• PHOTO: Send us a photo of your face, or a head shot.
• 5-MINUTE VIDEO (Max). Talk to the camera: introduce yourself; show us what you do that’s you special. If you can sing, belt your heart out, if you can cook, teach us how to whip up a family favorite.
Please email/mail documents to Casting Producer, Stephanie Carter:
Good news for local cast and crew – USA Network’s New Mexico Production of In Plain Sight has been picked-up for two more seasons.
And as star Steven Michael Quezada recently touched on with Erica Viking on Coyote 102.5, during his YDI benefit interview, AMC Television’s Breaking Bad is slated to pick-up production on its 4th NM season soooooon…..
Since July 21 a nationwide, online casting contest has been on! Log onto Mad Men Casting Call at amctv.com for your chance for a walk-on role on the outrageously popular AMC series Mad Men.
NM’s Own Leah Black is in the running and is the ONE AND ONLY ray of sunshine from the Land of Enchantment eligible to represent!

“Please go “LIKE” the Regis & Kelly page & then write something

From New Hollywood, NM to NYC – send our local, lovely Leah Black!
Not one but THREE FOUR New Mexico Films will be showcased at this year’s largest fiction/fantasy fan convention, Comic Con International in San Diego California, July 22 – 25.
My beloved Cowboy(s) and Aliens, now filming in the vast seclusion of our New Mexico desert, will be reviewed by non-other than director Jon Favreau (Iron Man) on Saturday to include an open Q & A. Perhaps there Favs will disclose the yay or nay on his gorgeous film’s dimensions be it 2 or 3!!! Like Iron Man’s cousin Thor…
Thor is in and out of the news, most recently for this just released production still for the film which is catching its unfair share of flack. Producer Kevin Feige will be on hand to discuss the much anticipated Marvel release of New Mexico’s Thor and the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger.
“Scheduled to appear for Universal Pictures’ sci-fi comedy-adventure Paul are a who’s who of film comedy. Director Greg Mottola (Superbad) will be joined by cast members Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz), Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead), Kristen Wiig (Date Night), Bill Hader (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), Jeffrey Tambor (The Hangover), Joe Lo Truglio (Role Models), Seth Rogen (The Green Hornet), and Sigourney Weaver (Baby Mama) as they discuss the movie about two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage to Comic-Con ultimately takes them to America’s UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who takes them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever. Q&A session to follow.” – Screen Rant
“The cast and filmmakers of (NM’s) Let Me In, a haunting and provocative thriller written and directed by filmmaker Matt Reeves (Cloverfield), give the Hall H audience a sneak peek at this highly anticipated film. Let Me In is an astonishing coming-of-age story involving a young girl (Kick Ass’s Chloe Moretz) and an alienated boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee from The Road) unlike any you have seen. Based on the bestselling Swedish novel Lat den Ratte Komma (Let The Right One In) by John Ajvide Lindqvist and the highly acclaimed film of the same name, Let Me In takes audiences straight to the troubled heart of adolescent longing and loneliness. Academy Award-nominee Richard Jenkins (The Visitor) also stars in this exhilarating reboot of the beloved original.” – Comic Con
ed. notes: SyFy Network’s NM production, Stargate Universe will also hold court. And last year’s NM Comic Con reps. The Book of Eli and Legion are now out on DVD.
In another fine example of why you keep working toward the work, do the work and have a good contract – today a supremo, syndicated superstar award goes to everyone’s favorite pastel suit wearing, huarache sporting, frosted tip donning, Don ‘huevos’ Johnson for winning his (law) suit against the co-creator of Nash Bridges and Rysher Entertainment which produced the show during its run from 1996-2001.
Don was awarded $23.2 million, being deemed entitled to half the show’s profits from royalties and global airings. YOWZA!
In a grating exercise of what seems to be futility (much like listening to Kelly Ripa speaking) you can log-on to the Live With Regis and Kelly website and vote on a temporary replacement for that dehydrated bag of chicken bones (i keed, i keed).
Two of NM’s Own are hedging forward as contenders, but the field remains wide-open. Git’ on-it NM et al. Send one of our girls to take the stool next to and school the cutest little leprechaun to ever yell at you from daytime television.
Reg has often made quips about NM, like whether or not he’d need a passport to perform at one of our Casinos (hardy, har, har – how Grand Torino/Arizona of him). Well, now that and so many more national and Canadian questions re: Nuevo México can be answered if we send ‘em one of ours.
Vote now through July 16 here. There’s also some giveaways or sweepstakes or something for voters…blah, blah, blah.
And p.s. Reg & Kell are owned by Buena Vista, which is owned by Disney and air on ABC which is owned by Disney and we lurves us some Disney in NM so, we should have dibs.
It’s been announced today that Disney’s forthcoming Marvel Television Division will be helmed by producer Jeph Loeb (Heros, Smallville).
“Loeb will work alongside Dan Buckley, publisher & president of the print, animation & digital divisions of Marvel Worldwide to adapt Marvel characters and stories to television as both live-action and animation series. Additionally, Loeb will oversee the development and distribution of live-action, animated and direct-to-DVD series. Loeb was previously a Marvel-exclusive comic book writer and also did a stint on Lost. Marvel’s rival DC Comics has built a primetime presence through its deal at Warner Bros. TV that has spawned such series as Smallville and Human Target.” – Deadline.com
As we’ve touched on here, we lurves us a certain mouse in this NM house! We bes’ be gettin’ our welcome wagon wheels polished in hopes, nay dreams that Mr. Loeb will see fit to film in Nuevo México – a nice muffin basket and or balloon bouquet can’t hurt?!?
The former king of bringing teen hormone to cinema, director Cameron Crowe (Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Say Anything, Almost Famous) is gearing-up for his first feature film since 2005 and 20th Century Fox is now taking online submissions for casting the upcoming film based on the memoir, We Bought a Zoo by Benjamin Mee. The final movie starring Dennis Hopper titled The Last Film Festival, a comedy is pending a release date.
Hopper had also recently voiced a character in the upcoming animated film, Alpha and Omega:
The Walt Disney Company is quietly dotting the state with their mouse ears as the entertainment GIANT’s long reach includes Marvel, ABC and The Disney Channel, all of which are sowing New Mexico roots.
Thor is bound to dominate the big screen next spring, the Q spot is the backdrop for network TV’s Scoundrels starting in June, and the purported next High School Musical, Lemonade Mouth is getting set to employ and roll in New Mexico.
Even ESPN regional television resides in the Mouse House. ESPN happens to operate the New Mexico Bowl – our very own college bowl game, set to air on the national stage ESPN will provide to millions of viewers on December 18 this year.
And as we ~reported here, the Bowl’s title sponsorship is still up for grabs…
If it’s not quite in your budget to buy your own bowl don’t fret, but be sure to dust off your monogrammed mouse ears and put on your perma-smile ’cause NM is poised to join the billion dollar club!
“New Mexico was a challenge…with this show, you never know, you could be doing a scene back on Earth, finding your long lost son or something like that, and then you’re in the desert with other actors, looking for some chemical that’s going to save the crazy alien spaceship that you’re on. You never know what you’re going to be doing from month to month on this show, it’s challenging. New Mexico was very, very challenging, but also it was the most exciting thing I’ve ever done in my career. It was like shooting this big action film: They actually put cameras up on helicopters. It was amazing.” – Brian J. Smith
Awwwww, well Bri, we’ll be workin’ on getting more “amazing” projects here to bring you back soon! Maybe the next big superhero flick shot here…
