Posted by Sindicator on August 30, 2010 | 2 comments

Toni Collette did not take home a statue this year but was awarded the Emmy last year for lead actress in a drama series for the United States of Tara (Edie Falco got the award this year for Nurse Jackie). Collette is currently in town filming Fright Night.

Resident designer, part time director and “rancher” Tom Ford dressed the event’s host, Jimmy Fallon among other nominees, winners and presenters.

Temporary New Mexican Joan Allen, was up for lead actress in her NM film Georgia O’Keeffe which was nominated for Best TV Movie, Art Direction, Best Casting, Best Directing, Best Hairstyling, Best Makeup, Best Music Composition and Best Costumes. – HELLO!

Local actor Eric Martinez of NM’s ABC series’ In Plain Sight, Scoundrels (and much more) was on the carpet with our focus of the night Steven Michael Quezada.

You memmer him, he and his gorgeous familia – who shared their awesome pics with all of us. Oh of course you know his name…as does THREE time consecutive winner for lead actor in a drama series Bryan (standing ovation from TOM HANKS) Cranston!!! (as heard above)

Love Ranch, NM

Though the most trusted site for production info. tags Reno NV as the filming location for this Dame Helen Mirren, Joe Pesci, Bryan Cranston film, Love Ranch (now in limited release) was actually shot in bulk right here in Nuevo México back in ’07/’08, on location and at our very own, newly labeled I-25 Studios – where productions continue to roll.

Director Taylor Hackford recently gave interview to Beliefnet detailing his perspective of the story behind Reno’s first legal brothel and saying the following about filming in and around the Q:

“We got a tax credit to shoot there. But it’s not dissimilar (to Nevada). It’s that austere, monochromatic, look, bare but still beautiful. Juxtaposing that natural exterior with an artificial interior, where you’re never supposed to know whether it’s day or night, you’re supposed to lose yourself. That juxtaposition was a wonderful stylistic metaphor. But we did go to Reno for three days. It has not been the success story Vegas has and you can still capture the ethos of the 70′s because so much hasn’t changed.” – Taylor Hackford to Beliefnet

Bad is Back

The AMC series premiere last night was the highest rated episode in series history, pulling-in 2 million viewers – a 40% increase over the season two average. Repeat airings boost viewing totals well over the 3 mill. mark.

“The third season of Breaking Bad got off to a great start this week…” – Entertainment Weekly

“There are elements of ‘ Breaking Bad’ that are simply unmatched on any other drama…” – TV Squad

“Awesome season premiere of…the best drama on television.” – The TV Obsessed

“A great start to one of the best shows on TV.” – iF Magazine

“The return of ‘Breaking Bad’ is a reason to celebrate.” – Television News Matters

C-lister Donald Faison spits on the Q in some whiney remarks he made on his Twit page. Didn’t anyone teach a boy, “if you ain’t got nothin’ nice to say…”. Hasn’t bro seen all the news headlines re: These Tough Economic Times?

Criminy, if only we had a buck for every time that tired ol’ phrase was used in the past calendar year we’d be back in the black and then some. The actor should stick to the script whilst he’s still got one in hand.

Shiz, Oscar winning NM Actor Jeff Bridges pimped for Hyndai and is currently hard at work in NM on True Grit. Now that’s how you do.

I guess the only way these ungrateful crybabies will learn to do instead of yap is by taking a look around – Cranston=Emmy, Bridges=Oscar.

We’ll go ahead and put out another “Open Call”: Stars ask plenty from the public in the way of support for their work, their industry and for personal and global causes. I’m sure a donation of Faison’s time or funds would be greatly appreciated by any number of deserving and much in need Community Service Organizations. Cast and crew of NM productions that regularly give back shine as fine examples for any and all who wish to get started on their giving way…

Faison is in town shooting the CBS television pilot The Odds.
