Eric Martinez, pictured here on set with Sean Astin, in Luke Moran’s Indie drama The Boys of Abu Graib.
As the world knows the mega budget, tour de force production of Marvel’s Avengers is also in town…global movie star Stellan Skarsgård here on that shoot pictured with Martinez at Albuquerque’s Hotel Andaluz.
A dear OneHeadlightInk reader wrote up asking what-in-the-set-signs is filming down south Valencia way…
The film may not as of yesterday been all up in my old prestigious 2×2 mi. digs of beautiful Bosque Farms, à la that unsung Seth Rogen classic Observe and Report, but the GAM signs that have gone so far as Northern N. Mex to smack betwixt Bern Co. & Rio Rancho have turned-up Los Chavez style.
If this post is feeling even less sensical and more cryptic than usual that is because A.) I don’t really know what I’m talking about and B.) Because even if speculation on the part of any of our readers or myself may be correct, we’re not in the practice of real-time dish.
However I will expound further…as I almost always do…that if that sexy Latina Diva Cameron Diaz is down south she’d be remiss not to hit-up Benny’s Mexican Kitchen, stop & shop at the local GameStop where Taylor, the sweetest gamerboy/salesman ever is good for great advice and an adorbs chat-up…maybe he’ll take or at least direct her to his girl’s Jerky Shop…where a certain sessy “Jesse” has been known to partake…
And that’s just what I’d have to say if Cameron Diaz is NOW FILMING in New Mexico!
Tickets will be available before the show (cash only), at the KiMo Ticket office during the week, or through Ticketmaster (fees apply). Box office hours & ticketmaster link are here: http://www.cabq.gov/kimo/tickets
Before your friendly neighborhood AVENGERS take over the Albuquerque International Airport they first sweep the underbelly (literally) of downtown Albuquerque.
NOW FILMING in the basement of the sizable property that is the Albuquerque Convention Center.
So many of you darlin’ readers already know this and much much more and may I just say how excited and proud for you and the whole of our great state for being a part of this grande muy magnifico production!!
(Let’s all remain as respectful and professional as those with NDAs)
Just one week ago over 100 companies were invited here to the world renowned NM set by Marvel Studios for a “Licensing Summit”. Read the transcript of what one of these companies were allowed to say about what they saw and did there!
Star of many a scene in everything from Gamer to Terminator: Salvation; host to NM productions like Beyond the Blackboard, served as a backdrop for In Plain Sight, Breaking Bad and umpteen more Indie & Artsie films and photo shoots, the storied Albuquerque Rail Yards appear to be up for a role in the biggest movie in New Mexico history!
One of the most beloved and dear demographics on the planet (comic nerds) are all atwitter with these pictures via Superhero Hype said to be the set of an upcoming Avengers shoot.
No word or buzz yet whether or not my personal favorite architectural nay public works landmark will score a role in the film, but with its previous appearances as the Gates of Cyberdyne, etc., etc., I don’t know how it couldn’t be at least asked to audition!
Break a leg Rail Yards, but not Scarlett’s because no AVENGER is more coveted the world over!
While we’re learning but scant tidbits from the intense media coverage of Marvel’s Avengers, currently in production here in NM, such as how Mark Ruffalo will achieve the Hulk Bulk, that Captain America will get a new costume for this side of the pond, that Thor says expect tension, and what the character set chairs look like…
Walt Disney co-owned Marvel Studios has begun production on the superhero blockbuster film “Marvel’s The Avengers”. There will be ongoing casting for day players, extras, stand-ins, and photo doubles in Albuquerque, Cleveland, and New York City throughout the entire production which will run through September 2010.
“Marvel’s The Avengers” is being produced by Marvel Studios’ President, Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Louis D’Esposito, Patty Whitcher, and Jon Favreau. Marvel Studios’ Jeremy Latcham and Victoria Alonso will co-produce.
Based on the hugely successful Marvel comic book series, “Marvel’s The Avengers” brings together the mightiest Super Hero characters as they all assemble together on screen for the first time. “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the first feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009. The studio’s plan for “Marvel’s The Avengers” is so enterprising that many of the starring actors involved in these recent Marvel superhero pictures have been signed with options for as many as nine films.
Shooting is taking place at Albuquerque Studios, and will also take place at Grumman Studios in Bethpage, New York, and at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn, New York City. Set construction at Steiner Studios is slated to begin in November and the production is expected to use the facility for months. There will be 2 months of filming in Cleveland, Ohio where over 2,000 extras are expected to be cast.
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has acquired worldwide distribution rights for “Marvel’s The Avengers” from Paramount for $115 million in a deal which also included Iron Man 3. “Marvel’s The Avengers” is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 4, 2012. » Read the full post
ICYDK: Exclusive pics direct from the New Mexico set here on the official Ten Year Facebook page.
Fresh off being violated tenderly “taken” by Ron Howard, Channing Tatum mingles at the end of a day’s shooting on Ten Year in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Ten Year is the latest Big Screen production currently shooting in NM. The made for TV movie Truth Be Told starring Candace Cameron Bure is also filming now – featuring the return of JAG to NM.
Next-up is THE AVENGERS, hopefully NOT to be followed by the funeral of all that has become good and holy in the world of New Mexico as the top spot in the country for film making – we all know it’s purdy here, but sunsets alone don’t keep the very mobile, very big business of movie makin’ generating gobs of jobs and joy in NM – KEEP NM FILM!
Catch Tatum this April in another NM Film, Haywire – formerly titled Knockout, with Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas, Ewan McGregor and Gina Carano.
In the BIGGEST film production news to hit New Mexico since 1910,
our El Majico OFFICIALLY announced Wednesday the NM Film prospect we’ve been following for you here…
Better than an early “Christmas present to the people of New Mexico,” it is perhaps the Swan Song of our departing Governor, Bill Richardson to bring us the news that Marvel’s latest and greatest assembly of Superheroes – will land squarely in Nuevo Mexico come April!
Sure to be the most grandiose and spectacular outing for Marvel Studios, THE AVENGERS will shoot here, where brother Thor first tread, where The Green Lantern and Iron Man got it on…and where Cowboys & Aliens was born…
Welcome to New Mexico!

The plot revolves around Emma, a foster kid who follows her heart o’ gold on the search for her long lost identical twin sister. Emma learns her sister Sutton, who’s been adopted by wealthy parents, is missing and commences on this quest of a lifetime…
Well, the star is attached to the upcoming film Guns of the Dead which is rumored as possibly coming here to film in 2011…but, no.
This pic is from a current film shoot. Woot!
and p.s. by all means (eh, hmm…SUSANA!) please do come here…FYI: Just one of the latest A-listers to part from the Q dropped well over $20K on their 4 wk. stay! Woot! Woot!
Now filming – As we first told you the classic novel Tiger Eyes, by iconic writer Judy Blume, turned movie is in production here in NM.
This pic (above) from the Santa Fe set warms even the dark soul of this Blogette, uniting one of the hardest working stars of New Mexico film and entertainment (seriously, homeboy’s IMDb is set to grow faster & longer than the list of approved ailments for medical marijuana – at least until Susana gets a hold of ‘em both), our own Erik Hausmanis with the legendary author herself.
The screenplay was penned by Judy Blume along with her son Lawrence Blume who is also directing the film. The engrossing story of loss and recovery plays out in the relationships and interactions of the story’s main character, Davey – the adolescent who is the vehicle for Blume’s signature brand of sage wisdom delivered as tacitly as our own life’s lessons often wildly, painfully & wonderfully fall upon us.
Along with the many New Mexicans the movie employs, it is young actress Willa Holland who tackles the coveted role of Davey.

UPDATE 07/06/10: Director Jon Favreau has confirmed he will be at Comic Con in San Diego re: Cowyboys and Aliens on July 24.
It’s been a hot, humid, summer minute since I’ve regaled you with tales about the hottest, sexiest beasts roaming the New Mexico desert right now.
The cast of spectaculars continues to grow as Abigail Spencer, Walton Goggins and Ana de la Reguera have been added to the the call sheet along with Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Keith Carradine and Adam Beach.
From social broadcasts on the world wide web Uber director Jon Favreau a.k.a. “Favs” has hinted that Cowboys will participate in the upcoming Comic Con 2010.
The plot has been disclosed and lends nicely to this Sindicator’s postulation that the film will marry West World with Samurai Jack – Whapah!
“1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It’s a town that lives in fear.
But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.
Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he’s been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.”

No confirmation yet on whether those rolling cameras are in fact of the 3 to the D variety and more importantly it remains to be first person confirmed whether or not Favs enjoys the Tequila…or as Grandpa calls it, “t’kill ya”.
